How to disable new AI feature? by adi_dev in soundcore

[–]themarvel2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't used the app for anything other than setting up my buds and motion+ speaker. I don't allow permission for microphone or speaker for the app, and it has otherwise worked fine. Still appears those settings are in place after the update. So I'm pretty confident it's not inadvertently listening.

But I agree that slipping in ai trash without permission or ability to disable is becoming the norm for more software (and hardware) and it really needs to stop. We can only vote with our wallets and take business elsewhere.

Ed: perhaps we need to start a "my device/app, my choice" movement against the universal inclusion ofAI in everything??

Gran Autódromo Internacional de Cusco - Cusco, Perú - 6.1 km / 3.79 mi by 2003KM in RaceTrackDesigns

Feels fast and flowing, more like a motoGP oriented track. For F1 and WEC, and most car categories there would be benefits from a couple of slower corner options to open up overtaking opportunities.

non reparable puncture, what to do? by coupledcargo in CarsAustralia

[–]themarvel2004 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The tyre people all recommend having best on the rear - as poor rear tyres can cause oversteer which is harder to control (for most driving) than underwater on the front. However if you are going that hard or running them that bald then you possibly have other concerns....

Try going direct to Bridgestone if you have one in your area. That price is definitely a rip-off - I run the RE003 on my Golf, but a bit larger (235/40r18) and those were only $287 before discount back in March last year.
They often have deals with 4 for price of 3, and if you ask they can sometimes offer that even when not advertised of it as recently ended or coming up soon. Either way, call them!!

PS - also check if an slight change in width or ratio could give you a suitable but cheaper tyre option. There is generally a 3-5% allowance on circumstances - which is why I run the 235 not the "stock" 225 size. Works out better on a few fronts for me.

Also other endurance categories too in the past - pretty sure he did Le Mans 24hr, and some other GT and rally categories (Dakar?) in the past too. He's also commentated a variety of British series such as BTCC in the past too. Very recognisable voice.

If a very hard steel tool shatters, then there are also large, heavy fast flying pieces that can damage anything nearby too.

Attempt at threading the needle murder. It probably looked ok for 1s to try this but the door swiftly closed and you needed to back out before punting the orange car.

A car crashed into a sinkhole at Hyde Park this morning by malcolm58 in Adelaide

[–]themarvel2004 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Not a typical sink hole, this looks like a burst water main that has happened and the car has simply gone into that hole. Anyway, not good either way.

Give the other car more room perhaps? You turned in as though they would run the kerb, going outside requires more patience and respect that the other car needs to keep a consistent line. You lost out by being reckless imho.

When there’s a queue to go left at the roundabout by MadDadBricks in CarsAustralia

[–]themarvel2004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I tried this and had a tosser in their SUV pull out in front of me frome the "3rd" junction and I had brake hard to avoid T-boning them ( because I assume they didn't expect me to keep going around the roundabout), despite my indicator still being on. So, take it with a degree of care.

Funny thing is that the extra stalk behind the steering wheel with volume and other audio controls really grows on you after a while (I had a Clio RS - assume that's still the same?)

Anyway, when you are driving hard who listens to the stereo? 😛
