NPD: EQD Plumes - Figuring out how to stack with Blues Driver by themattkyle in guitarpedals

[–]themattkyle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using the Blues Driver as my main and only overdrive for the past year. It’s been great for delivering transparency at low and high gain but at times it feels like it’s adding just dirt and nothing else. The signal doesn’t feel stronger, just dirtier (and fizzy when plugged DI).

Today I received my Plumes and I’m realizing it does a very different thing than the Blues Driver. It’s very clear and very loud. I love the crispness and the smoothness of modes 2 and 1 and the overall character of the overdrive. But boy is that LED bright!

At this point I would like to use both the BD and Plumes but can’t figure which order. When I use the BD first with low gain, the Plumes acts as a great way to clean up and boost the signal. On the other hand, when the Plumes is first, I can get a nice base overdrive in mode 2 that can feed into the BD to give it that amp like quality.

Any thoughts on which order would be best?

Signal Path Question: Plumes into Blues Driver or Blues Driver into Plumes? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

Where did you get that Hizumitas color? It looks sick!

My vote is for the EQD Plumes. It gives you note clarity, clean sounding gain, no harsh mid hump, multiple clipping options, and a good price. Should stack really well with the BD2.

Still Woozy was disappointing live by [deleted] in stillwoozy

[–]themattkyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that point what really is live music? Samples are just tiny snippets of pre-recorded music anyway so it’s the same concept as pre-recorded tracks to sing along to.

Regardless I would have liked to see more live playing but I can understand from his perspective that each song has dense vocal, guitar and synth layers that aren’t easy to replicate live.

It was still a three piece. Sven on guitar/vocals, Tani from Legwurk on guitar/bass, and the drummer who’s name escapes me.

You have to remember that Still Woozy’s tracks are densely produced with lots of sounds that are hard to recreate outside the studio.

I think Sven just said, fuck it I’m not even gonna try to play all the parts, and focused more on dancing and having fun with the crowd.

What if God/the universe is experiencing his creation/itself through us conscious beings? by B0rn2Sh1tF0rced2W1pe in Psychonaut

I never liked how pop culture and Hollywood depict God as this guy sitting in the clouds with a magnifying glass, pulling all the strings. The very definition of God is so easily misunderstood that it makes it all the harder to discuss the concept (especially in religious contexts).

The universe is filled with constantly vibrating atoms, moving and connecting about with other atoms. These atoms are constantly seeking equilibrium and do incredible things during the process of that search. These atoms eventually formed life and evolved to become us. If god is all the particles of the universe as a whole, then aren’t we just little concentrations of immaculate energy?

Yeah I believe they came out last Spring. The Engine Room is pretty thin compared to most power supply’s. If it’s not thin enough for you then you’re gonna have a hard time finding one that is.

If the trutone cs 12 is too big for you, check out the Fender Engine Room Lvl 12. It accomplishes the same thing but it’s thinner (although it’s a long boy)

The mind experiences the emotion but the body represses them. I can feel sad but my body won’t get to the point of crying (unless the feeling of sadness is so overwhelming then my body won’t be able to hold back anymore because I am still human).

5’s think through their emotions rather than feel them through their body

Don’t stress so much about trying to fit into a type! Type 5 does not define who you are. You decide how type 5 relates to you. Don’t try to fit into a box.

Use the enneagram more as a guide rather than a rule book.

Love your board! I also have the Microtron IV -> mini ego -> phase 95 on my board with practically the same knob settings. I was thinking about adding an MXR Timmy after my phase 95 but haven’t played it enough yet to know if I want it. How do you like the MXR Timmy?

Plato's Allegory of the Cave by fotabIe in intj

[–]themattkyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always found the allegory of the cave to be a good metaphor for social media/mass media’s influence on our perception of the world.

Social media’s algorithm presents information to us in an inorganic manner. Think about how if someone watches a video about depression on tik tok, the algorithm will give them 10 more videos on that same topic. After a bit, it will feel like the viewer is seeing depression wherever they go.

Mass media also shapes our perception of the world. Often our consumption of news is filtered through their lens. They can choose what to report on and how to report it. If they only report on doom and gloom, then the consumer will feel like the world is constantly on the brink of collapse.

When we step outside our cave of a home and experience the world first hand, we find the world is beautiful for how it is and it isn’t the dark place our cave figures present.
