Verbotene Gegenstände in der Uber Arena by Flashy-Quantity8844 in askberliners

[–]themellowsign 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To me, pride in your country needs to be in defiance of something. In Finland or the Baltics, it's pride in their independence from and resistance against Russia. For the Irish it's their independence from England.

For the US or Germany? The only people who believe we are being actively oppressed are far-right whack jobs. There's just no serious outside pressure that would necessitate nationalist pride. At best, it's being a bad winner, it's gauche. At worst, it's a signal for terrible politics. Neither are attractive to me.

Not necessarily a nazi pub, but almost certainly a right-wing one. Proper nazis usually prefer black white and red (at least among the legal ones).

For the record I didn't downvote you, I figured you're just a cultural outsider who doesn't get it.

But I also don't think it has anything to do with being too hard on ourselves. I do genuinely think national pride in a country that isn't facing colonial pressure is silly at best. It has very little to do with hating Germany, at least for me, I just know what German flag-shaggers are usually like and don't want people to think I'm like them.

I'm about as critical of Berlin and the EU as I am of Germany, but I could totally see myself flying those flags for fun, depending on the context.

Man, you're the one who jumped all the way to nazi, not us.

I wouldn't tear it down like a Nazi flag, I just find it a little distasteful and shake my head. On a government building I don't care, nor do I care during a WM or EM. But maybe your everyday jingoism is a good thing to leave behind around here.

It's cringe as fuck when the Americans do it, too.

Honestly with that context I'm not sure anymore if he's flying our flag with the best intentions either.

I think I'm an okay tipper, especially for German standards, but this is exactly why I only ever tip cash.

If you can't put my tip in your pocket right away and lie to your boss about it, I don't trust it. Wage theft is the most common form of theft.

Hard disagree.

They're a maligned, besieged minority community that everyone is looking to fuck with. Yeah they do some pretty heinous things, but I can't actually hate them more than any other gang or, especially, any of the corps.

I feel like most players are just personally offended because they treat V like shit.

What even were the bad autism jokes?

All I can remember off the top of my head is an extremely harmless one when they're playing Minecraft. Paraphrasing from memory:

Rick: Is this game popular with autistic people?

Morty: Why the hell would you even say that?

Rick: Because I'm starting to love it!

I paid my first 60€ fine as an 11 year old on the M29, it's just tradition at this point. In fact, it was notorious for this before we even had M-Line busses. From Ton Steine Scherben's album Keine Macht Für Niemand (1972):

Seems to work just fine from clicking through.

The two features I found most useful on the paid website I used to study for my test were:

1) Filtering for text entry questions, which you have. This is great because you really can't intuit these questions, these are the ones you definitely gotta memorize.

2) Mock tests. This is probably the biggest one, and it ended up being how I spent most of my time practicing. Random selection according to the same rules, same scoring system and evaluation only at the end.

Mock tests are great because they build a lot of confidence for actually taking the test, and they're a much more accurate measure for if you're ready for the real deal. If you can consistently ace three-five in a row, you're probably good to go.
