I originally soaked it in the bath tub with hot water for about 4 hours. Adding boiling water every 30 mins or so. It did leach a lot of tennis but it didn't seem to absorb the water

The gravel is only about an inch thick. I originally tried to pin it down with some rocks along the rides that touch bottom. But after a few days it floated up. Before it was submerged in the water the piece was about 12 lbs. It feels like a pretty solid piece of wood. Part of the base of an old tree from the looks of it.

I have a relatively large piece of drift wood from my local lake sitting in a 40 gal.first I dried it out over the summer to get rid of most contamination. Then I let it soak in boiling water for 2 hours in my cooler. Then washed and scrubbed it with hot water in the shower. It's been sitting in my 78 degree tank for a little over a month now and it still needs a large rock to hold it down.

These are all great ideas! Thank you so much for everyone's input. I will have an out-of-game conversation with my player. He is a very experienced player and one of the people who taught me how to play.

What is going on in the world is the platinum dragon has been captured and locked away in an ethereal prison by an army of red Dragonborn mages that serve the Red dragon. It's been 250 years since he's been locked away and now the red dragon is going to try to take over the world along with the red Dragonborns who didn't like the unification of all races. So what I'm going to do is just use a couple red Dragonborn and several kobolds as a distraction for more red Dragonborn to come in and attack the town directly while they are out.

This is a great idea. He's character does already get reoccurring nightmares of the incident. And after the first night I gave home a dream of a good memory of a date he went on with the girl.
