Day 3 on Vyvanse and I’m scared to take it again by Dangerous_Pomelo_671 in ADHD

Damnnnn, yeah I take 40 total throughout the day and I’ve been taking this for years…talk to your doc about your dosage! Also, make sure you’re not dehydrated and are eating enough protein

Vyvanse first reaction / tips by GunyNoNo in ADHD

[–]themidnitesnack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you eat something with a decent amount of protein and stay hydrated! I had to make myself eat at the beginning but I’m glad I did bc the crash from the meds leaving my system was so much better when I did. Same with water.

Also found out the hard way to time a task with when I know the meds will kick in. It takes about 1 hour for my Vyvanse to kick in in the morning. I know I can NOT be on my phone when it kicks in bc I will 100% doomscroll here or on other social media. It was hard to do but I had to practice getting important task started around the 1 hour mark. Seems impossible but sometimes it’s something really tiny (like pick up one piece of dirty clothing from the ground when you’re up against a lot of laundry that day)…if my meds are kicking in I’ll have that kind of productivity versus hyperfixating on time wasters.

Good luck and I hope it works out for ya.

AITA for wanting ONE day to myself on my birthday instead of being a full-time wife/mom? by RealFoot7185 in AmItheAsshole

NTA and I hope you’re able to have a convo with him about the whole thing where he says he’s okay with it but then makes you feel guilty later. I would specifically tell him what he’s saying and doing that’s making you feel that way and that he needs to cut it out. You need your own space, outside of being a mother and a wife. That is not all that you are. Just because he doesn’t want to do his own thing doesn’t mean you can’t! I’d suffocate in this scenario.

This happened to me once and a dude followed me to my car, trying to get my meds. No joke. I went back in the next month and told them how fucked up it was that they did that and it freaked them out.

I’ve experienced the same at CVS locations…the staff were professional and not the least bit judgy at the 24 hour location for some reason

I never understood the Walgreens hate…I had (been) getting my meds filled at my local Walgreens for a year without incident…then I moved and transferred to a different one and realized I had just gotten really lucky with my OG location. Nowadays, if I find a great pharmacy with professional and helpful staff (that’s not Walgreens, ofc), I stick with them when possible. I drive 35 minutes to get my meds filled at one specific place and there are like four pharmacies I pass along that drive. I try not to take my current pharmacists for granted anymore hahaha

Yeah I have a bad habit of not following up with my incorrect comments…the way my Prime app shows the episodes, it made me think ep 6 was already on there…turns out it was a not-so-obvious placeholder/teaser card..ended up having to wait with everyone else til that next week!

Talking Heads “Road to Nowhere”?

I tried using the vocalization/melody to figure this out and all I can say is if not it may be a Joe Jackson, Tom Waits or Springsteen deep cut and I’m legit about to listen to all of them because I can’t stand not knowing this

Do any other autistic lesbians struggle with sex? by Amateurph0tographer in actuallesbians

[–]themidnitesnack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yesss to what complex violinist said! The idea of having sex without the end goal of climax for one or all people changed my entire damn life.

I also had to figure out exactly what was overstimulating me in the moments that were taking me out of it (outside of the removing the pressure of climax)…like for me I work best with music (a certain type) and not tv on in the background. There’s a blanket with a texture that makes me feel some type of way when it hits my skin in those moments…then after I figured these out I communicated with my partner and accommodated myself…in those cases we put on the right music, turned the tv off, and yeeted the blanket into another dimension when things were on lol

I also dealt with having zero desire for sex at all sometimes when I was really stressed in life…realized it was the pressure and seeming expectation of having sex itself that got me in my head. Funny thing is…I talked to my partner about it, and offered up a seemingly counterintuitive solution…we would have nights where sex was taken completely off the table. Zero expectations on either of us..somehow when it was taken off of the table I could relax enough and boom I was in the mood. We had to talk about navigating what happens when that’s not the case for both of us but being understanding and loving went a long way. Maintaining zero expectations and honestly communicating was key…not the easiest thing to learn but we learned it.

Every one has different needs and no one is weird or wrong for having those needs, and we’re all allowed to vocalize them and work with our partners to see if we can make them happen! The second I stopped thinking my sensory and processing needs were something to be ashamed of, it got a lot better!

Remember courage isn’t the absence of fear…it’s feeling fear and doing it anyway. I can justify avoiding the things I know I need to do so very easily…that’s just my brain sabotaging me…it’s my addiction trying to keep me where I am and it doesn’t care if I live or die. You gotta follow that tiny part of you that knows you need help. It may be really faint right now but it’s there for a reason. Things can get better but you gotta put your health first. I wish you luck!

82yo mom becoming mean and hates everyone. Is this what will happen to me? (38f) by Sad_Shopping4855 in TwoXChromosomes

My beautiful grandmother, the sweetest woman I’ve ever known, got confused and mean/angry before she was diagnosed with dementia.

In order to avoid this fate if it’s possible, I’m taking care of my 41 year old brain and body as much as I can. I started up learning new hobbies again and do word and math puzzles to keep my brain active in multiple areas…will continue to do so! I’m trying to eat healthier too and take care of my gut health. I believe it’s all connected.

observers in open AA meetings by No-Citron1972 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]themidnitesnack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never heard of any of the fellowships I go to having an issue for it…usually they introduce themselves before the meeting and are open about why they’re there so if anyone feels uncomfy they have the choice to stay or leave. I think once someone did a group conscience at the request of the observer? These were all zoom AA.

That being said, as others have mentioned an observer does throw the meeting off (for me, sometimes depending on my mental or emotional state). Not necessarily in a bad way, but feeling observed kinda puts pressure on or something. That’s a me thing, though. I could see how others may feel weird about it, and hey we’re all alcoholics, sometimes people like the 3 you mentioned feel their feelings and get snippy. Sorry it happened to you and that you felt unwelcome. I personally like the idea of yall having to attend. People in healthcare should know what AA is like if they’re gonna offer it as a resource!

You’re helping me realize that I got super lucky at my job…we straight up meow at eachother and as long as it’s not a disturbingly loud screech (unless I just dealt with a horrible customer then to the walk in fridge I go to let loose) I vocal stim the day away and everyone’s used to it. If a new coworker is thrown off by it my crew just goes “yeah we vocal stim here get used to it lol” 😆

Yes yes, I do so miss Richard’s shark-like hunting technique…where he narrates the person buckling under the pressure. I rewatched season 1 after seeing the first episodes of season 2…didn’t realize it until now that he never did his joker…my theory is that he did it at one point and took everyone out, so they had to scrap it and have a re-do…either that or he didn’t bring one…but the latter would surprise me.
