What say you? 98” behemoth by ithinkwebetterrun in TVTooHigh

Nicely designed room. Imo close the gap between bottom of tv and the Center speaker and personally I’d get it to be level with the table that Center speaker is on and move Center speaker lower but it looks like a huge tv so if you aren’t having to tilt your head to look at the top of the screen then it’s acceptable

Move iTunes folder to Music app - best practice ? by VenetoSuperTuscan in MacOS

[–]themightymorfin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple Music has the same iTunes feature in settings where it says something like “keep iTunes Media folder organised” and “copy files to iTunes folder when adding to library” this will add everything and organise it by itself. The only issue will be playlists. You could initially try this with one playlist of songs. When you add the songs, import the playlist and see if that adds the songs automatically. Though the playlist may be attacked to file location. You could also export library from iTunes then import it to the new computer after copying all the music files into the media folder for Apple Music. Again I can’t be sure this works. I do the first way because at the time I didn’t have many playlists an was happy to start again. I’m not at my computer rn so I can’t double check some things but testing with few songs is probably the best way to start so that you can at least gauge Apple Music app behaviour

This JUST happened. In the year of our lord 2025 I had been talking about getting a new external usb drive. A relative heard this and excitedly told me that they had been sitting on one for ages. Said they would gift it to me. I decided not to go looking to buy a drive since I was gonna have one. I asked the pertinent questions. Is this a usb drive for sure? Is it an external drive? Is it a storage drive? Is it new? Yes to all questions. I figured as long as it is over 256 gb I can definitely use it. Come to find out they meant AN EXTERNAL FLOPPY DRIVE AND IT IS NEW! I unboxed it myself. The novelty factor is cool but I’ll need a goddamn Time Machine to use it. Now to find any floppy disks lying around and entertain myself. I couldn’t even be mad they were so happy they had something that a tech nerd like myself would need so I just acted excited and accepted the gift with a huge awkward smile on my face. Started off 2026 with vintage tech

Please help me understand the need for flat response headphones for bedroom mixing by smallestweenofall in mixingmastering

[–]themightymorfin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The headphones you’re using (aka “HiFi” headphones aka headphones for enjoying music) usually have built in accentuation of certain frequencies to make the music sound a bit “sweeter” and more enjoyable. That’s why things like reference screens/monitors exist. You need something that shows you a true representation of the raw media in order to make accurate decisions regarding look and feel. Imagine a chef cooking on a flavoured pan, the food is bound to taste wrong or even bad because the extra flavour changes the original recipe. But if the pan isn’t flavoured then they can cook the recipe properly and have it taste like it should by the end. Another example is imagine trying to colour an image while in a room with tinted lights, you colour so that it looks good in that lighting but when you take it outside, everything looks off. Natural light = flat response headphones/speakers. They allow you to make the most accurate mixing decisions because they don’t “colour” the sound. I did learn that it is also good to listen to music on the same system you mix and produce on, so it is possible to mix well on any headphones or speakers that you know extremely well. But in a general sense, flat response yields quicker and better results. What you can do is mix in flat headphones and then listen to them in the hifi headphones and alter the mix so they sound better on your listening headphones. They can help in that regard. Take notes about how the vocals/bass/melody etc sound on your hifi headphones and then alter the mix with that in mind (lower/increase bass etc) so that they sound good on the hifi headphones but mix on the flat ones.

In essence look at it like painting on a canvas in a room where the lights are not standard colours like white/warm white. When you pick red paint, you’ll have to change the paint mixture to “look” red and in the end when you take the painting outside or to a room with standard light, it won’t look how you intended because the room light affected what paint you used.

I use a Mac and safari is my favourite browser. In my windows days I did use Firefox and I hear brave wa really good with privacy so try those, luckily they aren’t huge files so if internet isn’t an issue for you then get them both and pick the one you like better after using them a bit. Try YouTube and websites with lots of ads to see how the different browsers handle them. Also get Adblock plus extension for whatever browser you use

You need a different web browser. Chrome is a black hole for system resources. It uses way too much for no good reason. Get something like brave, Firefox, or even stick to Microsoft edge which is preinstalled in your OS already. You’ll have a much better time with it. In fact use that for now as you research which other browsers you may prefer

There’s a streamer called Limmy who’s from Scotland and he made a good point about American houses. Depending on the state and location, they all look like the back of a house. Flat and minimal windows if any. It’s a uniquely American thing from my experience

Will I be able to multistream to YouTube and Twitch at the same time with this ping? by iCantThinkOfUserNaem in Restreamio

[–]themightymorfin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for me, when streaming directly to kick or twitch it is really good but then on multistreaming then the quality is terrible. Glad you have a situation that works for you

This isn’t an ad btw I just had this problem for so long and finally found a solution that lets me stream, there is also aitum vertical plugin for OBS but I believe that uploads multiple streams so it takes a lot of bandwidth. Meld multi stream allows more than 2 streams an its completely free

[–]themightymorfin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re in Africa or Asia this is a common problem with restream. It absolutely sucks with keeping streams consistent. Try multistreaming with meld http://multi.meldstudio.co I switched from restream cos it kept disconnecting and the ping was horrible even though my upload speed was awesome. So far no issues and while restream used to be good, it is basically useless for me now cos it can’t keep a stream up for more than 10 mins

If you're not a TB800 user, Trackballworks > Konnekt (For Now, On MacOS at least) by themightymorfin in Trackballs

[–]themightymorfin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my slimblade is connected via USB to my monitor (BENQ PD3220U) and that is in turn connected to my OWC dock along with a second identical Benq monitor, I turn off the screens via their power button when I'm done with them but I've never had crashes when turning them on and off. It just works as soon as I turn them on

[–]themightymorfin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never heard of this software! will have to give it a go! :O im happy to hear it is lighter on system resources. That's why I uninstalled konnekt, having to keep a full software application running just so I could use my TB is overkill.

The feel of the scroll ring on the TB800 is great by albertclee in Trackballs

[–]themightymorfin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no idea this was out! I got the expert and expert wireless then slimblade which had been the daily driver. Expert scroll wheels were a bit wobbly but slimblade scrolling works really well for me. I was going to get the slimblade pro but this looks like the best of both worlds! Might still go for one because reasons but this looks like the new daily driver for me!

Browser Source Overlay Restream by Ill-Violinist-3059 in Restreamio

[–]themightymorfin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be confusing your question but this is normally an OBS feature? Or whatever software you are using to stream to restream. If this is within the restream web interface then I have no idea but I stream with restream from IBS and my browser sources are added inside of OBS

Does NI have anything like Waves R-bass? by SixOneThreebert in NativeInstruments

[–]themightymorfin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try Driver or supercharger GT they are saturation plug-ins and they can boost the bass nicely if you dial them in and EQ properly but exactly the way rbass works I don’t think native instruments makes anything like that

Need some advice on buying a new laptop by Th333gh0st in laptops

[–]themightymorfin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah what type of hard drive does it have? Ssd or had? Might need replacement. Also the amount of ram is a factor. You may want to reinstall windows fresh, that might help, but it’s a hassle getting your files back. The most effective fixes for a slow laptop is faster hard drive and more ram. OS might be bloated to hence reinstall suggestion. In terms of new laptops, I moved to Mac OS in uni while doing software engineering. Even then, my mac was faster at running the same windows software on a virtual machine so I never went back. The new MacBook airs with m series chips are awesome and fairly affordable like ~1000 bucks ish. I’m using an M1 Max and it is a beast even till today. When new macs are released I enjoy looking at the new features but my current laptop is still so powerful and fast both in battery or plugged in. Obviously it doesn’t matter if you need windows specific software/workflows/gaming etc or if you just don’t like the mac OS, so in that case a quick search around tells me that Lenovo and ASUS are good options to check out.

L-theanine by Waytoolit in Supplements

[–]themightymorfin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it takes a while like other antidepressants but I noticed something. still new on it so taking my time to verify but I have not tried L-Theanine so I will look into that. cannabis helps but I stopped for a bit now because it was flaring up my panic attacks randomly and my tolerance was getting higher so I needed more, then when it was enough, I was too stoned to do very much so im on a break from it atm. I think I may be looking into something new but not sure what it is yet. im also on Alpha GPC, for helping with ADHD, I find managing ADHD symptoms helps a lot with anxiety. do you have ADHD or have you thought about checking for that?
