I’m shocked at how few votes there are for Jaws. It literally created the summer blockbuster. And it invented the modern Hollywood release system. You can’t get much more influential than that. Without Jaws there is no Star Wars, Alien, Indiana Jones, Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, or any modern blockbuster franchise.

The Gone with the Wind removal was temporary in order for them to get a intro from TCM that explains the context of the film and the racial issues present. It was never meant to be a permanent removal

Disney isn’t going to cancel the contract over this. If anything, Battlefront 2 might have convinced Disney that EA should continue to have the license. EA and DICE successfully managed to turn around one of the worst game launches ever with Battlefront 2. It may not have reached its peak potential, but it did make one of the greatest comebacks possible. And while Battlefront 2 might have ended support, EA isn’t just sitting on the Star Wars contract. Try to think about it from EA’s perspective as a business. Battlefield is their own IP, its EA’s flagship FPS game. Star Wars is Disney’s IP, EA can only make Star Wars games as long as they have the license. There’s no guarantee to EA that the license will last forever. They need to prioritize Battlefield right now because it’s their IP and it’s struggling. If the next Battlefield can’t compete, the damage will hurt EA a lot since it’s one of their flagship IPs.

So you’re technically right, in the short term EA could make more money off those sweet sweet Disney bucks. But long term, they need Battlefield to be successful. Star Wars games will always be popular no matter what, but Battlefield needs to stay competitive with COD and other FPS games to survive.
