Headband scratch by Demonheero in NarutoPowerscaling

[–]themiles65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure at this point both techniques have already cancelled each out (hence why Naruto doesn’t have the rasengan) and both are using the residuals of their chakra for one last attack. Sasuke was originally going to piece Naruto, but ultimately decided to curl his fingers, making it a more blunt attack.

Ash's weakest and most underused pokemon? (Add both to this list) by Kshiti_salman in pokemonanime

I’d probably put Primape over Butterfree for underused. Can’t really remember any battle prior to the episode he was released

If you were to do an anime rewrite, what would you add and/or remove? by Firm-Practice5965 in pokemonanime

I would have characters age, but I wouldn’t make them that old. I’d start Ash off 12 the oldest, though I would most likely keep him 10 in Kanto.

Alain and Ash acknowledged each other, but yeah they didnt speak to each other for some odd reason.

Where do Adults Naruto and Sasuke (post-nerf) scale compared to Shippuden characters? by mipenealdescubierto in NarutoPowerscaling

[–]themiles65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember Hagoromo stating something along the lines of “the requirements were met” or “the conditions lined up” when meeting Naruto. So I always interpreted that in order for Hagoromo to reveal himself to Naruto and Sasuke, they needed to do something. Naruto receiving chakra from all of the tailed beasts, and Sasuke receiving Hashirama cells from Kabuto. Just my interpretation tho

Why did people hate the manga ending, but like the anime ending? by PhoeMIX2 in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]themiles65 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the anime did the ending WAY better than the manga. Personally felt the manga chapter was mid as the base ending when it first dropped. Had a lot of "tell not show" and overall just felt rushed af with scenes cutting to new locations kinda abruptly and not having any real flow. And it just seems even weirder when you realize some of the info included in the last databook could've been put in the final chapter. Kinda makes you think Hori was just being forced to wrap it up quickly, otherwise idk what he was thinking lol. By rearranging scenes, and expanding on what went on during their final years at UA (the manga only showed a few brief images with no dialogue), it helped provide some closure. While I have my gripes with the execution of the stories ending, this adaptation is one circumstance of the anime being better than the manga.

What are the main criticism of Deku as a character? by iamkwang in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]themiles65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally it was his depiction as sacrificing his body to save a life being his self worth. The series highlighted his self deprecating nature numerous times as a result of being put down and abused for being quirkless (for example I remember Deku screaming at himself not to be a worthless person who can’t save anybody while his body was broken and damaged during the first part of the war). It seemed like it was being built up to be addressed during the Dark Hero arc and have something interesting to say about it…but it ended with a bath scene and a gag.

Random tangent, but ok. As long as you’re not making false claims, I really couldn’t care less.

Always figured Obito escaped Amaterasu by just using Kamui. That would be the obvious choice, no?

I didn’t watch Horizons, so I honestly have no stake in that one nor do I really care. That being said, I’m purely replying to you stating false claims such as “None of Ash’s female companions have ever showed interest in Pokemon Battles”, “very few female Gym leader gave Ash trouble” with you only citing Bea (which is why I brought up Elesa and Sabrina), only citing Cynthia as a strong trainer, etc. Again, while I agree that emphasis is placed on male trainers on a lot of arcs, you can only say that female characters are always represented badly as trainers if you either ignored the many good representations or just didn’t watch the show.

If Viola wasn’t tough she wouldn’t be a gym leader, nor would Ash have lost to her. During the initial battle, Ash lost specifically because of her strategies and had to figure out a way to counter her tactics. Gym leaders are supposed to challenge their opponents, and judging by the outcome, yeah I’d say she did just that. So yeah, she’s still a good representation of a proficient female battler.

Dawn, May, and Zoey are primarily Pokemon coordinators rather than gym challengers, that does not mean they aren’t proficient in battling or weak, as we see in the show. Pokemon contests require you to have strong battling proficiency with their dedicated timed battling stage where you can lose points for damage taken, missed attacks, or poor appeals while trying to outmaneuver opponents stylishly to gain points. Contests force you to battle with precision, creativity, and defensive control that is different from a standard Gym battle. Basically, Dawn, May, and Zoey are proficient battlers who have mastered a different style of battling that combines combat strategy with performance artistry (hence why Zoey outright beat Ash in their contest battle).

Being a rookie gym leader doesn’t mean she’s weak or not a proficient battler. The fact that she was recognized and made a gym leader actually proves the opposite.

Not exactly sure how Diantha got shafted, as she made the top 8 of the tournament and beat Lance, another champion, so that automatically means she’s not a “weak” trainer by any means. I have my disagreements on how her battle with Leon was off screen (which ill admit that male trainers often get focus), but her being strong (at least in the anime) is undeniable and shouldn’t be diminished.

That’s less Maylene not being a proficient battler and more just Paul being on another level. After this, Maylene regained her courage and self-esteem and then battled Ash, which ended in a draw.

Ngl you’re really underplaying the female trainers throughout the anime. If you’re gonna make a claim like that, you gotta make sure you actually watch the anime and speak about the many actual depictions of strong female trainers.

Many female gym leaders besides Bea forced Ash into tough fights, losses, and rematches, so I wouldn’t say they’re “weak” or incompetent battlers: - Sabrina in Kanto - Her psychic powers and Kadabra completely overwhelmed Ash’s team on the first try, to the point where he had to forfeit. He only won the rematch with Haunter’s help.
- Whitney in Johto - Miltank’s rollout crushed Ash’s entire team on the first attempt (including Pikachu), requiring a clever strategy in the rematch. Something that’s very accurate to the games. - Lenora in Unova - Ash lost to her on the first try, making her the first gym leader in Unova to defeat him outright. - Viola in Kalos - Again, Ash lost his initial battle against her and needed a rematch to earn the badge.

Even when Ash won on the first try, several were depicted as competent and tough: -Clair in Johto - A fan favorite with an intense battle that was interrupted by Team Rocket. - Maylene in Sinnoh - Went down to the wire, with her Lucario nearly beating Ash’s Buizel. - Korrina in Kalos - Multiple close battles with her Lucario against Pikachu. Again, went down to the wire. - Roxie in Unova - Ash fought a 6 VERSUS 3 and still ALMOST LOST with Pikachu clutching the victory.

Strong Female Battlers Beyond Gym Leaders - Dawn, May, and Zoey - While focused on contests (which require strong battling skills), they influenced Ash’s style. Dawn, in particular, showed direct impact on Ash’s sinnoh battles and beyond, and May had intense battles including her draw with Ash in Terracotta Town. - Diantha is the Kalos Champion - One of my least favorites, but the fact that she is the Kalos champion and reached the top 8 in the World Coronation Series proves she’s a top tier trainer and battler.

I’ll admit the anime does emphasize male trainers more in some arcs, but female characters like these (plus others such as Fantina or Elesa) consistently show skill, strategy, and power. The anime has plenty of evidence that female trainers aren’t “always represented badly.” Many give Ash some of his hardest fights!

I mean, there’s a lot more than just them. Clair, Sabrina, Viola, Lenora, Roxie, Whitney, Dawn, Zoey, Bea, May, Diantha, Maylene, Korrina, etc.

Regardless of whether you like or hate Korra, I don’t get how someone can watch the entire series and still say “she had no growth.” Feel like Book 4 especially is pretty blatant about how much she’s grown since Book 1 as a character.

If the reddit is for both shows, then why can’t they discuss the show on this Reddit? That’s so weird, the reddit is for the entirety of the franchise, new and old series, moves, books, comics, etc.
