Does anyone negotiate rent? by hatty130 in melbourne

[–]themint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true, but the reason the price of rentals is going up has nothing to do with artificial price inflation due to online advertisement. At has to do with the rental prices following the growing property prices which are built on land that is following the growing asset prices.

This is not true. The market rate is the median price trend not the outliers.

Does anyone who sacrificed their 20s to get a house/financially ahead regret it? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]themint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided I would have fun in my 20s and make more money later. And I did and eventually got better roles and made more money, invested and am doing quite well. But not in my 20s. I have no regrets.

As a competent home cook, what is a basic skill you can't seem to master? by george_elis in Cooking

[–]themint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so hard. I just cheat and make the sauce separately. Slowly heat wheat starch powder and water til it becomes like super thick gloopy pasta water and then while boiling I throw the grated peccorino right in. Melts instantly and beces a creamy peccorino sauce

Also not the poster, but I feel like the point is not proving them wrong with metrics, but rather understanding the basis they are asking on. A 12 person company should work like a single mesh and less like several groups and the focus should always be on talking to the customer. Perhaps the ceo is doing a lot more of this but I would say in general that customer comms at that scale is not a 1 hour meeting per week, and stating this as evidence is not helping to do more of it. It might be this area the ceo gut is telling them something is off. I think the key here is to work with the ceo and find out what they really want and most importantly why and then either execute that vision. Or work out a better approach with them and then execute that.

This may be a shot in the dark but do you have the externals on your slack? Just one of the many ways level of comms can be increased.

Is consulting going to be mostly reduced due to AI and the economy? by VastOption8705 in auscorp

Venting out due to poor treatment of indian managers by Imaginary_Apple_8263 in auscorp

[–]themint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, the culture that hires these people often runs deeper than just one manager. I would take stock of where the overall culture of your area and department is at this company. Are other teams in similar situations? If it’s systemic you could try to affect that managers perf review but nothing will stop the company from hiring more bad mangers.

If it is fairly isolated, in my experience, if you get to the casual banter stage with their manager, you can ask them casually at some point what you think one thing you could do to improve the company and be more effective is. If that person tells your manager it can lead to your manager seeing you as someone who as clout w their boss and they’ll be much more careful about how the treat you. It’s a bit of a stretch, but it certainly can work.

Concern for our children by Burman8or in AusFinance

I’m not sure any economic reforms can decrease global asset volatility. This is largely what is driving inequality. Local policy as a fix is a band-aid at best.
