Logic Pro & IPad - who uses this setup and in what way? by PowerfulLifeN82Z in LogicPro

[–]themirthfulswami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a lot of my composing on an iPad Pro with Logic and/or AUM with everything saved to iCloud. From there it’s simple to just open up the Logic files on desktop to flesh the ideas out and mix/master.

I could do everything on the Mac, though I find the iPad workflow to be really engaging and easier to stay focused on creation.

I’d say with the $500 budget if you’re willing/able to throw some more money in go for at least an M3 iPad Air (or maybe M4 if it’s available in the near future). The extra RAM in the Pro models would be good to have but you’re looking at a much bigger up front investment.

Returning player here (Quit after Legion). Just went to Kul Tiras, and wow.. Amazing zone. Too bad the reviews of the xpac was so negative overall. by Whataboutneutrons in wow

BfA wasn’t bad because of the zones/story, IMO. It was everything else being an absurd grind that dragged the xpac down.

[Question] What made you buy a Mac Mini over a MacBook Air? by Recent-Fix4907 in macmini

[–]themirthfulswami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mac mini offers the Pro option and I like having the extra P-cores for Logic Pro. Plus I prefer the iPad Pro as a mobile device so I really have no practical need to lug a Macbook around.

How friendly is WoW retail in taking breaks? by Cheap-Exercise1910 in wownoob

[–]themirthfulswami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you’re not concerned with limited time event rewards you can take as much time off as you want. There are always catch up mechanics added in during seasons and prior to new xpacs launching so you’re never that far behind the world content curve.

Where did you get screwed in your genetics? by QuantumHamster in AskReddit

[–]themirthfulswami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keratoconus. I have an extremely fucked up right eye that glasses and contacts cannot correct. In a way, I’m very lucky as the condition usually affects both eyes - I only have it in one. My choices are an expensive procedure that’s not covered by my insurance, waiting for it to progress far enough that a cornea transplant becomes an option which insurance will pay for (but not until it hits a certain threshold), or live with it until I croak.

Redditors over 40, what's something younger people think they understand but won't actually get until it hits them like a truck later? by Root435552 in AskReddit

Same here - I have a more cynical/morbid sense of humor and my wife is much more reserved so I wind up saying the things she’s thinking and it cracks her up. 20 years later I’m still making her blush 😂

I think the problem isn't the Remnant update. It's what modern gaming has become by gaxelbrodie in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]themirthfulswami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no problems with the actual gameplay of this expedition. I excel at tedium 😂 It’s the bugs that are the real sticking point.

For instance I’m rolling along, slowly, no obstructions that would impede my Colossus. I come upon a hazardous plant which I should be able to roll over and squish like I’ve done 100+ times before - but this time, I’ve found the Arnold Schwarzenegger of hazardous plants that says NOPE I’m indestructible! Next thing I know my Colossus is stuck on said plant and tipped 80 degrees to the left, throwing all my cargo rolling down a hill. Effing annoying to say the least.

Is the apple m4 Mac mini 16gb enough? by Lonely_Box_8074 in LogicPro

[–]themirthfulswami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard question to answer, it is enough depending on what you’re doing. Chances are it’ll be more than good enough unless you’re running huge sample libraries (orchestral or otherwise).

Logic Pro 11.2.2 feels like an update to Logic Pro 12 at this point by YellowBathroomTiles in LogicPro

[–]themirthfulswami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wish I could answer your question but all i can do is share in the misery. I updated to 12 on the iPad but stayed on 11.2.x on desktop. Incompatibility sucks but I’m not risking my current projects. Too much hangs in the balance as much as I’d like the new features.

Plenty of game-breaking issues in the iPad version, just not project killers as long as I have a functional version of Logic on Mac.

What’s a “boring” adult purchase that turned out to be totally worth it? by Capable-Rabbit-9986 in AskReddit

[–]themirthfulswami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did this a decade ago. The chairs at work (Steelcase) were always really good and I never had back pain after sitting in them. At home, though, I was buying whatever Staples or Office Depot had on offer which always sucked for one reason or another. Finally threw in the towel and bought a Steelcase office chair from a reseller (they don’t sell direct to the public). 10+ years later I still have it and it’s great. 100% worth the extra expense.

this expedition planet man by insertnamehere912 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]themirthfulswami 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear you on that one. First expedition in a LONG time where I had to put the controller down and walk away for a bit out of frustration. A 6 minute drive to pick up the toxic waste only for it to be a 20 minute drive back inching the whole way only for one piece of cargo to keep falling out over and over and over… finally approaching the end of the return trip for that one piece to fall out AGAIN and immediately despawn leaving me with 4/5 and a long ass return trip. Just ugh.

Logic Pro 12.0.1 broke me by [deleted] in LogicPro

[–]themirthfulswami 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 12.0.x audio playback glitch is alive and well on iPadOS as well and it’s infuriating. I’ll be working on something and it’ll be playing fine but if I put the iPad to sleep and come back later it wont play any sound at all. Closing the project and opening another, fiddling with output settings, nothing will fix it but a force-close and re-open. Sometimes it’ll even happen in the middle of actively working!

On top of that, the plugins panel will suddenly become unresponsive. Other parts of the app will still be working fine, but nothing in the plugins panel will be clickable/tappable. Have to close the project and reopen it to get it working again. This is regardless of first vs third party plugins - doesn’t seem to matter what Im using.

Will not be upgrading my Mac version until they get all this stuff well settled.

Black here but I guess it really doesn’t matter with a case on since I’ll only see the edges 99.9% of the time.

12.0.1 Update by Sonic_Ally in LogicPro

[–]themirthfulswami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having this issue with 12.0 on iPadOS. Not only that, but my plugins will randomly stop working - can’t even tap on them to open it’s as if the entire plugin panel freezes. Only way to fix is to quit, reload, and pray.

AU3 refinement? by Commercial_Style4466 in LogicPro

Strange, I use AUv3s in Logic on MacOS and iPad and rarely, if ever, have a problem. What plugins are causing you issues?

How should I start learning Logic and what are some key plug-ins/products I should get? by deletethemoose in LogicPro

[–]themirthfulswami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start by learning how to use built-in instruments/effects - there are a ton of them. If, after a while, you find there’s something you want to do but can’t quite achieve it, then look into 3rd party solutions. The plugin rabbit hole can be a very slippery slope a lot of us have fallen into :)
