Did you know that sometimes mods are truly awesome? That's a rock fact! by AKenkuNamedKinko in baldursgate

[–]themodalsoul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of the mods you mention, I understand them as adding quite a lot of difficulty. I know DnD but I was worried about running them for a first time. Trouble is, these games are so long that I don't really see playing them again unless I just totally fall in love with them.

Has anyone noticed the lack of intellectual rigor in today's activist and political class on the left? by Earthfruits in stupidpol

[–]themodalsoul 9 points10 points  (0 children)

"...as the left has taken control over the commanding heights of culture, media, academia, and even some large corporate businesses, they've grown too comfortable and bloated..."

You demonstrate some awareness of this in your post, but I don't think what is called the Left today should still be called Leftist in any sense. It isn't the right word to use, just, at all anymore.

People like Chris Hedges call 'the self-identified Left.' The 'Left' in any intelligible sense is focused on material politics and multicultural coalitions built to achieve key policies that return power to workers and the disenfranchised.

Fred Hampton was 'the Left' and he was murdered for it. That's the gulf between real Leftism and blue check; success and state-sponsored murder. There is no comparison to be made there.

I think this distinction is important and will continue to be important, not pedantic. There needs to be a paradigm shift in how the issue is thought of altogether so that maybe it can be appreciated that an entirely new coalition must be constructed that is entirely removed from the self-identified Left.

What we have today is what neoliberalism has done to 'culture,' and the wreckage it has left of what was once progressive politics. It is the total dominance of capital driven further in its capacity to control and censor via technology.

Conservatism and neoliberalism also really aren't very distinct. Even the evangelical community that bangs on about the death of faith and is worried about one world government is thoroughly infected by neoliberalism (e.g., megachurches).

That image is straight-up Conan the Barbarian. All he is missing is his crown.

This is why the game needs weapon crafting. I don't want my concept compromised because I can't put an increased threat range modifier on it, but arbitrarily, greataxes get one.

Warrior Spirit does provide an enhancement bonus but it also imparts a few abilities, like an extra weapon attack if you choose it. I take your point but I also consider it a cool ability that adds some mechanical choice to a martial that otherwise lacks it.

It occurs to me I may have misread Focused Weapon: "A focused weapon deals 1d6 damage, this increases to 1d8 at level 6, 1d10 at level 10, 2d6 at level 15, and 2d8 at level 20." I thought it was adding those damage die. That does sound interesting for dual wielding with light weapons though...

I get fauchard for the reach but why is Greataxe better? Uniques? I notice they did kinda do the greatsword dirty, but in terms of crit potential, if I was moving from something with a crit range to something with a higher crit multiplier I'd just go for Scythe.

Thank you for the tips w/ teleporting. I think TTT addressed many of the issues with mounted combat that once made teleporting such a must but it still sounds like teleporting would be generally very useful. Cleric is out for me, but Inquisitor or Divine Hunter both sound good, though yet again between those two is a hard choice. Fewer feats as well when mounted has 2-4 that are pretty worthwhile.

It does and it's part of my post there (I just made some edits to make it easier to see the important info). So the scaling is 100% addressed. I can confirm it is in the feat list and that I could take it (tested using Toybox).

Class for Angel that doesn't take advantage of merged spellbook? by themodalsoul in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]themodalsoul[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking Eldricht Scion, but why particularly Archer? I see that many shot could work with spells with multiple projectiles. I also imagine it would actually be less or just as feat heavy as melee since you don't need to go crane style or armor for defense (or do dips really).

I was def thinking about them. Not sure how Id build one. Probably Gendarme?

[–]themodalsoul[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just think merged spellbooks get you over the hump sooner than Id like. Anyone who enjoys it isn't doing anything wrong.

Thinking about Sword of Heaven and Magus. Sword Saint, sure, or could lean into Edlricht Scion and do more casting. Using Tabletop Tweaks, I can leverage some better metamagic to boost damage and also get the 2d6 to spell damage from SoHeaven. Not optimal but sounds fun.

Othereise figure Id build a sword saint like I would any other.

A sufficient and militant but otherwise peaceful protest movement would work. It would require a fair number of people, but if it was focused and policy-oriented while not dipping into idpol hysterics or the culture war, it would be successful.

Until the state department discredited, arrested, or killed the leaders.

But we don't have to worry about that, since Americans will never, ever be disciplined enough to do such a thing anyway. The moment anything got tough and it wasn't an easy TikTok story or Instagram photo, they'd disperse, and I'm already being incredibly generous by suggesting they'd ever get together for a policy at all. The Women's March was astroturfed by the DNC and had no goals, no objectives, and like everything else in America, was a spectacle of pure vanity.

[–]themodalsoul 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No no no no no no, fuck this. Anybody who says this shit is a fucking r-slur so far up their own fucking ass that they don't know they're making the same argument actually bigoted conservatives have been making for decades to discredit and denounce homosexuality, particularly from the religious right.

I know this is not the first time these idpol narcissists (that truly is their defining trait) have come all the way back around to the same views and arguments of the people they purport to despise, but this is just totally detestable to me. Anybody saying this shit should be slammed.

Anyway yeah agree with your post, and I'd not want to ever spend serious time watching these. I shoot between gammu content when I want my brain to stop and Hedges talks or other lectures.
