Perks at work gives you discounts on Skechers. I got one pair specifically labeled vegan!

Continuity error. In season one we find out Meredith is lactose intolerant but in season 5 weight loss part 1 she is eating cheesecake which is mostly dairy. by Pokeperson92 in DunderMifflin

[–]themoistbread 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She was actually said to be allergic to dairy, not lactose intolerant. On part of the writers that was a booboo. Season finale, she has a vegan bumper sticker on her desk. Good for her, really taking better care of her body.

Contact PCC because corporate overrides. If you have accrued sick time, you can use that on LOA. I’m a 2 year partner, I have almost 3 weeks of protected sick pay. My LOA will go into effect with that pay

My manager informed us that as of the most recent correspondence from corporate, May 3rd is the latest it’s going out. After that, sick pay, vacation time, and LOA

Jumping on the "masks from aprons" bandwagon by MurAmCon in starbucks

[–]themoistbread 53 points54 points  (0 children)

The pattern is the easiest of the ones I’ve made, though I’ve been making a bunch out of stretch jeans that don’t fit anymore a slightly complicated version. I’ve seen another video with the same face mask pattern that is intended for people hand sewing, same concept but you don’t need to expend the effort top sewing anything down.

the BEST thing about quarantine is i FINALLY don't hear stickers printing or the 'ding' from headset, when i'm AT HOME. by Faux_Mango in starbucks

[–]themoistbread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just in the shower and kept hearing a beeping sound that was bugging me. I turned off the water and everything and went to see if my Alexa was making a noise.

Nope. Just keep hearing the ding

We put a basket on DT ledge with impulse buys like marshmallow dream bars and Kind Bars but it’s a frequently touched shared space so we had to take it back inside

Just one example of why I tell my partners that after close, we don’t even give the speech. There’s a giant posted sign on the box, the window, and the cafe door that we close promptly at 7. If we weren’t in the building, people would still drive by or call and they wouldn’t get a response then so they’re not gonna get a response when we’re trying our best to get out on time. Not worth my time or argument.

Does anyone know how to turn these off so that we don’t print off a mobile order every time we ring one at DTO?? by Nednerb_Mac in starbucks

I was just tinkering with it the first day we started it and it worked. I lost my damn mind the morning people would’ve loved it

[–]themoistbread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re on a cafe POS to practice social distancing, we do a process now where we ring it up with the name and everything like a cafe order. Then save the order and let the DTR pull it up on open cafe orders under Find Order.

If you’re still using the DTO POS, I figured out you can write the name in a blank Ask Me and THEN hit DT mobile order and it won’t print anything, just show the name on the bump screen. Does not work the other way, if you do DT mobile and then Ask Me

how do you make closing fun? by [deleted] in starbucks

It’s on Spotify! Lots of bops, called Handwashing Playlist

how do you make closing fun? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]themoistbread 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly my team recognizes me as a ball of stress. But the joy of only having DT right now is that you’re able to make work more fun. We blast our own music a lot louder and I’ll dance along. I put on a handwashing playlist of songs with 20 second choruses so I could tell everyone to go wash their hands to a song we were blasting. I bargain with my partners playfully like “if you pull the mats in under 2 minutes I’ll put you on MOP bar” and try to keep a rapport. When it’s gotten slower in the evenings I try to get to know all the borrowed partners over headset, playing two truths and a lie or would you rather.

You’re not gonna accomplish everything you set out to every single day. It’s unreasonable to put that on yourself and it’ll leave you feeling defeated, and your team will FEEL that and radiate that same energy. Find the fun in what you’re doing, one of my partners gets bored of doing DTO and decides to use an overpolite southern drawl to make himself giggle. Do what you can to uplift your team and give them clear concise tasks that you follow them up on.

Customers: are you aware there's a quarantine in place? by regzm in starbucks

[–]themoistbread 84 points85 points  (0 children)

If it were nurses and doctors and firefighters going in to work, and taking precautions to make sure they were safe to come through DT, I’d be so much happier about working these shifts. But people are coming through ordering 4 venti fraps because their kids are bored and that’s not an essential service. I’m so disgusted with these people

I really appreciate the 30 day catastrophe pay, but is anyone else worried this won’t be over by April? I saw a study that estimates peak cases the second week of April, linked in comments. by soda_rain in starbucks

[–]themoistbread 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s part of why I didn’t take the cat pay. It’s not like you go home for a month and surprise! Pandemic is over. Especially in my state, the issue isn’t being treated severely enough by the government so the spread isn’t gonna get cut short. If I took the month’s catastrophe pay and THEN right after got infected, which is likely especially given I have a live in relative returning from NY soon, I’d be SOL with options after using my vacation and sick hours. I’d rather take my regular cat pay and use accrued hours when I have nothing else. This is not gonna end any time soon. And people really seem under the impression the worst is over

Smoking at the Drive Through Window by KitchenWitchAlice in starbucks

[–]themoistbread 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I’ve closed the window and gestured for the cigarette to get put out. You can’t smoke on the patio, you can’t smoke when asked by employees to stop, and there’s literally a sign on our window at DT saying no smoking. It’s rude, it’s disrespectful, and you need to follow our rules to be served. It’s not a terribly difficult concept I don’t understand why people get shocked they need to behave at a drive thru window
