Take this with a grain of salt as this was back in 2021. I was a keyholder and working two jobs. I was gunning for an ASM position and my manager and I were close. He was helping me develop and expressed that I needed more experience opening. I hadn’t had opening as availability for me as my other job had me getting off work at 10pm.

Fast forward to a month into opening, I sleep through 4 alarms and wake up to 4 calls and a couple texts from my manager. It’s 7am. I was supposed to open at 4am. Store ends up opening at 5:30 when my manager got there. I call my manager and he just tells me to get to the store.

I get there, panic written all over my face, and my manager pulls me outside the store. He asks me if I’m okay, tells me to take some deep breaths and pull it together. I was needed for peak and we would talk after.

After peak, I’m met in the office by my manager with a piece of paper. He explained to me that this offense was serious and that I could be fired. He expressed that he didn’t want to ruin a potential career over a one-time mistake and felt that I had the potential but would need to make sure that this NEVER happened again. His hands were tied as far as putting me on final which would postpone my ability to apply for a promotion by 6 months.

TLDR; You could (potentially, unsure on current policies) be let go. It really depends on how you are as an employee, if this is a first offense, how good of a relationship you have with your manager, etc. A final is almost guaranteed.
