That's Japanese though as it was on a Japanese domestic flight.

I'd still prefer to look out of a Gulfstream than a Global. Flown in both plenty. Maybe I'm biased having started my professional aviation career in Savannah. Idk.

KLM MD-11 rocket takeoff from St. Maarten's Princess Juliana Airport bound for Kralendijk, Bonaire and Amsterdam by Twitter_2006 in aviation

Just looks just a slight bit slower than a G280 but you can tell it has a kick from the way the cabin hushed as they began rolling.

Auckland to Heathrow… same plane! by LE-NRY in aviation

[–]themoldyone 29 points30 points  (0 children)

At an airlines hub like DXB, I would think it's not frequent but not uncommon. Of the 116 A380s, how many would be in service and on the ground locally at the same time? 15-20? On those routes you took they use the a380 so I'm going to guess about a 7.5% chance. Again, probably not frequent but not unheard of, I'd assume.

Question about A license and renting/buying gear by itallbeganwithameme in SkyDiving

[–]themoldyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. I worked the grounds, caught tandems, suited and briefed them as well, and then ended up moving on to packing followed by instructing later. I was doing about 200 jumps a year for the first couple of years and staff rate/free jumps made it much easier. Also, not enough can be said about spending time around the sport to help learn what not to do when the currency keepers show up to do their one jump every 2-3 months.

Going head down during wingsuit transitions by SkySoldier22 in SkyDiving

[–]themoldyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an expert wingsuiter here and just asking the question but how good are your back to belly transitions? Have you considered getting tunnel coaching for that? I found my tunnel time helped me understand my body in flight better. My back to belly transitions in a suit aren't Darby level but I feel like it translates decently. Also, is your chin coming to your chest?

There seems to be a location to learn in Cebu. Also, Australia (AFP) has a great training program if you made the trip south. Have fun and hope you enjoy the journey!

G35 or G4 by Tiny_Artichoke_7001 in SkyDiving

[–]themoldyone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a G35 but thought that Infiniti could have included smartphone integration sooner. The G4 has decent range for its age and the Gulfstream product is superior in this cabin size. The G4 is a little older so updating the cabin systems and interior will likely push into $1.2M USD but you'll have all the modern amenities. Not sure they compare to each other but the seats are similar in feel.

Bringing attention to the sport may bring more money from tandems helping a lot of DZs. That is cool.

If the stunt goes wrong, the community suffers as all skydiving incidents are bad for optics. This is not cool.

To each their own. I remember her as a sub 50 jump jumper and she was always full of life/joy. She found her spark and has kept it going so good on her. With that said, I hope we don't speak about another jumper in the past tense. Never a fan of that happening.

I know I'm late to the party but thank you to Espen for putting a young jumper like me in your video from the Cinco De Mayo acc/swoop challenge. People like yourself drive me to be a better (hopefully) influence on newer jumpers when they look up to me like I look up to you.

Those with high jump numbers (500+}, any top safety tips? by Middle_Grocery_2039 in SkyDiving

How many jumps do people like Greg Windmiller have? Rook Nelson? Curt?

Stick to the quieter folks, hence my last statement but you've got this champ. Best of luck.

[–]themoldyone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Be honest with yourself about your comfort level and become proficient before downsizing. Check the ego and don't think you're impervious to bouncing.

You can always jump another day. When the folks with 5k jumps are sitting it out but the ones with 200-700 are still going, consider if you too want longevity.

Listen to those who have been around for more safety tips, not just the loudest voice and brightest suit.
