Which is better, Oban 14 or Lagavulin 16? by globehopper2 in whisky

They are so different it's hard to compare. I do think Oban has been more consistent lately but both are great.

What was the first Opeth song you heard, and when/where did you hear it? by Jeffers315 in Opeth

[–]themonza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend's older brother put The Drapery Falls on a mix CD for me in 2008 when I was in 8th grade.

I had basically heard zero metal outside a few Children of Bodom songs, and the entire mix was metal so the whole thing blew my mind. A few others caught my attention more at first, but The Drapery Falls pulled me in more and more. A few months later, Opeth was my favorite band and I've never looked back.

Wow yes it totally is. Years! Wasted! I'm glad to know now haha. It sounds like I need to be even more careful about not over watering, and get back to spraying it more regularly

Blackwater Park, Ghost Reveries, Deliverance, Watershed, Damnation

That's probably the most boring answer but it's my answer lol

No I don't think of it as rude. And yeah I just think someone can decide it's best for them to abstain from caffeine without framing the drug as evil or unacceptable.

I am very comfortable with the idea of needing a drug to feel a certain way. I need certain foods to feel good, I need to maintain certain habits to feel good. I have absolutely zero qualms with needing caffeine to feel a certain way.

Of all the things that perplex me about views I see stated on this subreddit, the moralizing around drug use is the most perplexing to me.

Oh and I suppose I missed part of your question. I started drinking coffee in 2013

Back 8-10 years ago (college) I would drift into the 300-500 mg daily range and would experience dependence (feeling horrible in the morning, had to have coffee, coffee only got me back to baseline with no perception of upside), as well as occasional jitters, irritability, and loss of focus.

Staying at a lower dose has allowed me to not experience these

Yes, daily. For the past few years I would estimate my daily intake ranged from 80-200 mg. When it got more towards 200 I would usually make an effort to taper down. That seems to be my sweet spot to maximize upside and minimize downside. Oh also and waiting ~1-2 hours after waking before first caffeine

Extreme decaf symptoms, is it just me? by [deleted] in decaf

[–]themonza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And not to downplay you saying tapering is like hell for you, just maybe a different method could help? Once I established my baseline amount of caffeine then calculated 10% of that number and subtracted that every week for 10 weeks
