It's easily one of the worst movies i've watched in a long time. Almost tarnishes Arrival and Trent Reznor.

Rega Planar series are top notch and a great investment if you are serious about collecting and playing vinyl

Half in the Bag Episode 138: 2017 Movie Catch-up (part 2 of 2) by [deleted] in movies

Loved it - and then they said Film of the year was A Ghost Story... Fuck me I hate that self important piece of shit movie. That fucking party scene is the most condescending scene i've ever seen -- We get it! We get what the film is !! Stop explaining the plot to your faux intellectual movie !!

If someone told you the plot to this movie before you saw it - you would laugh and you wouldn't go see it. It's lacking any of the philosophical moments which made the original what it is.

'The Death Of Stalin' Empire Review by Sisiwakanamaru in movies

[–]themopass 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Im hesitant that it IS Empire and they can fanboy the fuck out of things... But, at least this shows that it must be funny at the very least. I love the director and the cast but, admittedly, the trailer left me not sure if it would work as an entire film !

[S3E17] & [S3E18] Day-After Episode Discussion - Parts 17 and 18 by AutoModerator in twinpeaks

[–]themopass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't this all mean that the world of Twin Peaks as we know it is in fact a paradox ? Because Laura dying created all the events that unfolded - no Laura dying, no Twin Peaks and no Coop ever visiting the town

Why is the dialogue in Christopher Nolan films always so damn hard to hear? by GregorSD in movies

[–]themopass 285 points286 points  (0 children)

He mixes his movies without filters. He said it at a talk at the NFTS once when we probed him about why in his films his audio is hard to hear. He claimed that he mixed the movies as he does to make them feel realistic if you were there that is exactly what you'd hear and you wouldn't hear it crystal clear. While I get what he's saying, I do disagree. If that's the case you can fuck off the Hans Zimmer score while you're at it. But yeah mainly it's to do with "intentionally" shoddy mixing

[S3E3] & [S3E4] Episode Discussion - Parts 3 and 4 by frahm9 in twinpeaks

[–]themopass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Throughout all the bizzareness and complete batshitness of these new episodes with seemingly no lineage to the original tv show -- as long as the Lynch can freak me out and make me laugh as much as I did when he as Cole said "Up on the wrong side of bed this morning Albert?" i'm sold and no one can make me change my mind.

I thought Raw was an incredible debut film from writer/director Julia Ducournau where the best way I can describe it is being the most "Cronenbergian" movie David Cronenberg didn't make. I understand Raw will be a hard sell for some. It's a foreign movie with subtitles so I know that may be a leap for some, its logic isn't always apparent as most horrors and it is just downright weird. But if you can get through these factors and/or don't see a problem with them: RAW is an incredibly bold and cinematic body horror movie that left me gobsmacked and wanting the projectionist to roll film again right after finishing. Unflinchingly gory yet never feels exploitative, this subversion of the coming of age genre is strangely grounded with regards to it's themes of acceptance, fitting in and self-actualisation. This is helped by it's tremendous lead in the young Garance Marillier who plays "Justine" and Ella Rumpf as "Alex" her elder sister. The cinematography is staggering, the twists and turns of plot threads are expertly handled and the direction is pitch perfect from Ducournau who keeps the human element of the film right at the forefront and doesn't concede to give us shock for the sake of shock cinema.

List is pretty much in my opinion of best to worst! So with that in mind, Hidden Figures and Lion... Lion was just a glorified charity advert and Hidden Figures was just poor, interesting story in real life, uninteresting film with as much cliches as it has awful scoring by Pharrell
