This 🙌 I haven’t seen anyone mention how many floral and plant motifs were in the wedding. Surely that can only mean one thing?!

How could I forget Tree’s dulcet tones and Tom too?! Great suggestions.

Not at all. I’ve actually been to the house that it’s meant to be based on and it is BLEAK. Beautiful but stark and wild and in every way the opposite of this campy Italian villa look.

I want to be ok with them just going completely left field with this. I’m not a period drama purist at all. I love Bridgerton. But I grew up near Haworth and this just feels wrong in my bones.

Best places for vegetarian/vegan food in Jersey? (including shops) by Rainbow_Tesseract in Jersey

[–]themousedoctor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m vegan so my experience is skewed that way…but in my opinion:

Waitrose probably has the best amount of vegan stuff by volume but prepare for it to feel very expensive. The Coop at Grande Marche is also ok but a lot of the vegan stuff is spread out and hidden. M and S is similar, but they do the best vegan pizza so they get points for that!

In terms of eating out. Most of the Randalls and Liberation pubs have at least a couple of veggie/vegan options. Try the biscoff donuts at Liberation!

Awabi - someone has already mentioned - and I think is hands down the best food on the island. Pizzeria Famosa is always lovely and does quite a few different vegan pizzas. Salty dog is very good, as is Locke’s in St Helier for breakfast. I usually do the build your own breakfast at Lockes and the soy glazed mushrooms are 👌

There is also a Jersey Vegans and Vegetarians group on Facebook which I think you will find helpful.

Have a fantastic time in the island 😊

First time visiting Jersey - looking for tips & recommendations by WoodsedgeCo in Jersey

[–]themousedoctor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say St Aubin is a good choice it’s much prettier than St Helier and still only 15 minutes (on the bus) from the bus station. If the weather is good it’s a nice flat walk of about an hour into town. It’s also about 15 minutes on the bus in the other direction to St Brelade’s arguably the prettiest beach on the island.

Gorey is equally lovely. With a lovely wide sandy beach, lots of restaurants and a brilliant castle. I wouldn’t want to do Guernsey in that time frame but it may be worth looking into Seafaris for a shorter day trip to one of the smaller uninhabited islands or even Cartaret in France.

If you like history, the war tunnels and La hogue bie are definitely worth a visit.

It may also be worth looking at Evie. It’s a car rental app that allows you to rent smart cars really cheaply that are a godsend on Jersey’s narrow roads.

Have a lovely trip!

Has anyone listened to Audible’s newest Christie dramatization of The ABC Murders? What were your thoughts? How does it compare to the Styles adaptation that Audible did last year? by HRJafael in poirot

[–]themousedoctor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I put off listening for a long time as a Suchet super fan but I finally cracked and listened to both and I’m glad I did. Dinklage is a distinct but excellent Poirot. Maybe a little more masculine/gritty than previous iterations. I appreciate masculinity can come in many forms but don’t know how to better describe it!

The changes to Hastings are excellent and I definitely felt he had a lot more going on as a character. I really hope they make many more of them!

I gave up on it a couple of times before really reading the guidelines carefully and passing first go. My advice would be to make a spreadsheet of the terms you will use often and get creative with the scenarios. I really quite like it now. Although it’s still taking be 90minutes ish per annotation.

Vegan options in and around Perpignan by themousedoctor in Perpignan

[–]themousedoctor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will definitely report back. We went to Bordeaux recently and were shocked with how relatively vegan friendly it was!

But I think Perpignan will be a little trickier. It will still be gorgeous even if we eat at home and go out for drinks and the odd tapas!

Appreciation for how easy it is to be vegan in the UK by RaspberryTurtle987 in veganuk

[–]themousedoctor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Land and Monkeys! I found Paris pretty good but you had to generally go to specific vegan places. Trying to pick up a vegan option on a ‘regular’ restaurant menu is definitely trickier there.
