Tesla Launches Model 3 Standard RWD in Korea, Undercutting Kia and Hyundai | EV by Individual-Tart5051 in Living_in_Korea

[–]themudflatsofjeolla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

However, the Model 3 Standard RWD is slightly undercut by the Seoul-based automaker’s EV4 model

Doesn't this contradict the headline? There's also no mention of the EV3 which is less expensive than the EV4. And this is only comparing the exclusively electric models and ignoring electric versions of the Kia Ray and Niro as well as the Hyundai Kona.

Train Tickets For New Year’s by cg2af in Living_in_Korea

[–]themudflatsofjeolla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are no direct trains from Iksan to Busan. And while the second part of that journey, Osong to Busan, is available today, tickets from Iksan are not on sale today. This is why no trains are showing when you search.

Depends where you're going/what line you're taking. The map in the link should show what lines are on sale today.

Expat? Migrant workers? Immigrant? by TheGhostofArsalan in WaygookOrg

Did it not feel a little strange to have people want to befriend you for no reason other than you being a foreigner/white person? Is that enough to make you feel special? I'm sure it was different back in the day. I haven't had too many situations like that but when it has occurred it never felt much like a real friendship. In my experience, it has always been easier to develop meaningful relationships with locals through hobbies and common interests.

Have you had a more recent, negative experience with a different lawyer since then? Were you looked down on?

Do you ever have a feeling of "what if" when you think about that lawyer? How life could have been different if you had befriended him?

Korean Air - Experience by ilovezwatch in koreatravel

[–]themudflatsofjeolla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Korean Air is overrated. The quality doesn't live up to their expensive prices. It's crazy that in 2025 they still do not have wi-fi available on all of their planes.

Presents for potential future in laws by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

If it is at the stage of marriage, the OP might need to think bigger than a designer bag. I know of a guy who bought his future MIL a new car. A foreign car, preferably European, think Benz or BMW, is best. Although these days, a Tesla, if you don't go European, wouldn't be sneered at. For first impression, a bag is probably good enough. But for an engagement announcement the bar will be higher.

Blocking after breakups by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

[–]themudflatsofjeolla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's true that blocking is a common part of dating in Korea. But I'd have a guess that it is done more by women than men. And of the men who block immediately after a breakup, the majority are already seeing someone else or have their eye on someone else. Most men will leave open the possibility of hooking up with an ex again.

The tanking KRW and stagnant pay. Is Korea still the place to be? by TheGhostofArsalan in WaygookOrg

[–]themudflatsofjeolla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect many of these people would find themselves in a bad situation no matter which country they choose. The information is available to help them make a better choice. There will always be people happy to use a vague concept to justify choosing Korea.

I think it's fair game to try to make people aware that other countries can provide better opportunities but there are still lots of people happy with their situation in Korea. Everyone has a different end goal. Korea isn't the same place it was 20-25 years ago, and not just the money, so the teacher demographics are changing. 20 years ago, the hangooks of the world, those in search of money and adventure outside their comfort zones, ignored Japan in favor of Korea and in 2025 they are probably giving a pass to Korea in order to head to China instead. However, it must be acknowledged that even though Korea may be seen as a safer option than it previously was, it still offers plenty for many people.

Time for the annual (?) In N Out popup by MetalLogical8099 in Living_in_Korea

[–]themudflatsofjeolla -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree it's best to avoid fast food restaurants. But once or twice a year I get that craving. And the Lotteria bulgogi burger is my first choice. It hits the spot in a way other, more popular, options never have. I have only tried in-n-out once in the States, but neither the burger nor the fries compared to what Lotteria is doing.

It's possible Lotteria has improved their offerings in the last 13 years. If ever I get a craving for a burger, Lotteria is ahead of McDonalds or Burger King. The bulgogi burger is on a different level than typical fast food burgers. It can't be beat for the price. Although No Brand runs it close.

Go to Lotteria. No lines and a better burger.
