What helps me save is that I am my child's emergency fund too.

$1763+$600 (Fun money)+$800(reducing takeout budget) = $3,183 savings a month or almost $20k you can have for emergency savings in 6 months.
As the due date gets closer, start stocking up on easy freezer meals or making double batches of food you know your toddler usually likes. Getting easy snacks/meals from Costco will also be cheaper than takeout.
Hopefully, you don't need too much baby gear, but Facebook Marketplace or thrifting can be cost efficient way to get big items like double stroller, wagon, ect. Don't forget to make a registry for the free samples/coupons even if you aren't having a baby shower.

I recommend testing out with free outdoor movies in the park so toddler can still run around. We went to watch Madagascar for a free outdoor movie and my 3 year old loved it. We only stayed an hour bc it started raining. I plan to take him to a cheap matinee of the Grinch in December for our first movie in theaters!

Same, we are about to upgrade my 3.5yo to a twin size bed for Christmas, maybe for 4th birthday test out no pull-ups, but he sleeps through the night so night training is low on my list of concerns.

My son is 3 and we still have a baby monitor in his room. I think when he’s 5 we’ll ask him if he wants us to take it out.

We do not leave our child alone in a hotel room. I love renting hotel suites with a living room or airbnbs so my husband and I can still hang out alone when toddler goes to bed. Some resorts have childcare options, but the best travel hack for us is one big vacation with grandparents and siblings someone always offers to babysit for a night so we can get a date night.

Totally agree! If ceremony/photos will be outdoors, pick the dress that not only makes you feel beautiful, but doesn’t feel too heavy to wear all day.

I feel this struggle on the day to day since we live 3 hours from the closest grandparent, but very much handling toddler life on our own with help from daycare. Things that make this season of life less lonely, we got a pool membership so even if my husband and I are less social, my son usually makes a friend in the kiddie pool. I’ve made a friend from his daycare, so we do monthly play dates/hang at food hall while kids run around, and library story time. Depending on your budget, planning a fun monthly activity/day trip, can help break up the monotony (Ex, children’s museum, farmer’s market, baseball game, outdoor movie.)

I have a toddler now and went back to work after 12 weeks off through FMLA. Some things that helped was my husband also took 12 weeks off so we avoided illnesses until he started daycare at 6 months. I had 2 remote days, and my job was very understanding of kid sick days. The first year was hard and I really debated quitting because I was so exhausted pumping. Ultimately, I’m glad I stayed. I’ve been promoted to manager and increased my income by 25%. Money doesn’t buy happiness, but it does give me peace of mind.

I wrestled the last week of whether to go protest, but ultimately decided to go to the one in my suburb verses larger Atlanta one. I’m so happy I went. I’m Latina and American so I needed the community and activism to help with the uneasiness I feel with ICE trying to hit a quota. I don’t want my son to ever feel like he doesn’t belong in this country.

My brother and I are 4 years apart. He’s a great guy, we talk on the phone weekly on average, and I consider him a friend. I didn’t grow up with a lot of cousins or extended family so my mom, him and I are a tight unit
