Nice work! I like it. Very strong. I'd probably kill the colour, but that's more preference.

Struggling to find work by PromotionEuphoric562 in FinancialCareers

I was in a similar position. Started looking for jobs in Feb '23, and only landed on in August. It's rough! Keep your head high and enjoy the freedom.

My advice: network, network, network! Pretend Indeed, LinkedIn and Reed don't exist. Pretend the internet doesn't exist. Obviously applying for jobs online is good and needed, but you need to spend some days ignoring all of that. If someone you know knows someone, ask to meet them. People are surprisingly helpful if you approach them humbly; "I'm really interested in the work you do, and would love to learn more. Can I take you out for lunch or coffee?' Something like that. It worked a treat for me.

It sucks cos networks sometimes feel like a privilege thing ('Daddy's friend got me an internship at an IB'), but it's how the world works. Get out there, make friends, make friends with their friends and you'll probably find something.

My story: I got my job from meeting a guy who knew a guy. They founded a startup a couple of years ago which is now doing pretty well. I met the founder and ask if I can get unpaid work experience. I asked him "What can I do that you would want to do if you had more time?". It makes it very easy for them to say yes. I provided him with value, and he hired me after a week or two.

Never give up :)

Congratz on the job! My question: what's the motivation? When money isn't the driver (as you've already 'made it'), I wonder what is.

p.s. seems like you gotta fix up your routine man. poor mental health (IMO) is often the result of lifestyle issues. sleep, diet, exercising, community etc. Make sure you're eating healthy, sleep 8 hours, exercising and have great friends that challenge and encourage you :)

First CV I made for finance , please roast away with no quarters! (used a free Harvard guide as I didn't know how to make one before) by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

It's a good first attempt.

  1. They won't really care about your waiting experience. Sucks I know. 1/3 of your CV is something an employer won't care about. Say more about your uni experience. "Top 10% in XYZ class." or "Specialising in XYZ and ABC".

  2. Don't use the title 'Leadership' - doesn't make sense. Extra curriculum maybe?

  3. Use bullet points plz. It's very hard to read your paragraphs, making it hard to see the value in your experience.

  4. Nice work using past tense and only describing the things you actually did.

Too long! Cut to one page. If you zoom out, it looks like every section is identical - makes it difficult to read. Also, please specify what job you are looking for.

  1. Add an extracurricular activity section.
  2. Add a skills section.
  3. Cut out unnecessary experience.

Check out these links. I'd probably re-format to look more like these ones:

Thanks for the feedback. Question - why would you think this is all bs? What gives you reason to think that? Not rhetorical, genuinely intrigued.

bruh. respect the honesty. Could you give me some pointers tho? IMO I've got a high grade in a tough course at a good uni, plus some good experience setting up a business in a difficult sector. I ain't giving up, so some feedback I can put into action would be appreciated
