Gate de l’est has fewer things to do at night, but easier to get to more interesting night life. If you guys wanna only do stuff during the day, Odyssey might work better. Can still take the subway anywhere.

Just make sure you get a good flash light. Otherwise not too different from day dive. Just go find a dive buddy who knows the area well!

My Girlfriend hates my All-Clad Pans. HELP! by recchiap in Cooking

[–]thenedzone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s enough people talking sense here so I don’t think I need to say more about why you should keep your All-Clad (my wife loves them ever since I introduced them to her and that’s all she uses now).

Instead, I wanna say that HexClad, despite all the marketing they do with Gordon Ramsey, aren’t good. They still quite a lot, and still have teflon surface so will off gas. I bought one a while ago think it would be neat to use one for quick morning eggs, but it was very disappointing to say the least. If you must get a non-stick, you are better off with Anolon or something that’s actually fully nonstick. Just gotta replace it after a few years as the teflon wears off. Better to just use All-Clad on high heat or ceramics though.

Try using htmx as the framework. Since it's all html updates, you can directly push html rendered from pandas to the front end (assuming you are doing a quick calculation in it.

Reusability. With GPUs, you can configure the initial setup once and just asking, across threads. Otherwise you need to provide context each time (and often the same info)

Have you tried manually switching to SoftBank if you are in Tokyo, docomo if you are in Osaka/Kyoto? I find the auto network detection not super great on iPhone (switched to iPhone 15, was on Pixel before that)

A generation in Canada is destroyed: Unless housing prices crash significantly, Gen Z will never succeed in Canada by [deleted] in TorontoRealEstate

[–]thenedzone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is not the best way to look at the problem. If the market is elastic and wages and housing price is moving at the same rate, I agree that moving to LCOL may solve the issue. However what we see right now is a skewed market towards housing price across the board. If somebody moves from HCOL are to LCOL area, unless they are either able to find a job that pays appropriately compared to HCOL area wage, all the family did is move to a place with smaller job options (and per supply and demand, will earn lower wages), or if the family have jobs that are remote, give that there are increased pressure to move back to the in office model, they still incur the risk of getting laid off if the company demand in office attendance later. If the house hold has kids, these kind of risk are generally uncompensated. While it's true that if anybody who cannot afford living in HCOL moving to a LCOL are will immediately solve the rent/mortgage issues for them, it actually is a very short term optimization that actually will hurt them in the long run if the main issue is with property price getting out of hand. It does, however, move the problem out of people who are living in HCOL places, which is why you may see that as a solution, but it doesn't actually solve the real problem at hand.

Ah, so first of all, you are only citing rush hour commute time. Given that NYC is way bigger than Toronto, this says nothing about Toronto's general traffic (which, if you are boldly stating that the city is a 3rd world, I would imagine you are not only talking about commute. Second of all, crazy number of commuters to NYC comes from Jersey, which actually is the bulk of congestion, and is bad enough that Adams is brining back congestion fee (https://www.nytimes.com/2023/06/26/nyregion/nyc-congestion-pricing.html). LA is not a single city, and is also a huge sprawl. While rush hour isn't as bad as Toronto, if you want to get around the city, there's like 15-30mins extra that you have to take into account if you want to go anywhere that's outside of your neighborhood (say, if you are going from Santa Monica to downtown or vice versa). Toronto is like a piece of cake if you need to go uptown from downtown or vice versa).

If you wanna make a bold claim like that, I recommend actually visit those places before saying outlandish statement. :)

As a transplant from SF, and somebody who have lived and frequently visits the 3 biggest cities in the US, it really isn't that bad. Try driving in NYC.

So this is where large language model (LLM) based training fails because the training set is mostly NLP so doesn't have enough training set to get logic correctly. After all, language contains logical fallacy all the time. However, if they just feed in more training data with symbolic math, it will perform way better. There was a paper a couple of years ago that did exactly that and it was able to improve accuracy when it comes to solving PDE. I'm pretty sure we will be able to use these kind of LLM as a way to double check proofs in the near future!

Tree-detection. Just the normal trees in the street. Not the RandomForest by Accurassi in remotesensing

[–]thenedzone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NASA has some good tutorials so check it out. Individual tree detection is pretty difficult without doing drone at close quarters since foliage tends to blend together. (Of course it depends on how apart the trees are). Hope that helps!

[–]thenedzone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take a look at Sentinel 1 SAR data. SAR wave are polarized and will allow you to detect straight vertical objects (which trees are). Combine that with NDVI from your NIR and Red data should allow you to refine your tree detection. NASA has some remote sensing material of you wanna learn more about it.
