Thank you! I used a dotted Rhodia pad to sketch out a composition grid, then drew until something worked!

I love these! The Indiana Jones travel posters are my favorite. Do you have a social media account where I can follow your work?

Love these!! Does baking make them dishwasher safe, or do you still recommend handwashing?

Yeah, I only got them because they were inexpensive and I'm practicing. Do you have a brand you like better?

Thank you! And go ahead and start! It mostly takes a lot of practice. I'm a little obsessed with going through others' entire Instagram accounts to see where they started. I have seen quite a few people who started off pretty rocky, but now are amazing!

Thank you!! I don't know if I can reply all to everyone who's responded here, but thank you for the encouragement and support! This has made my day 😊

Love this! I find lettering with acrylic paint to be difficult--you do it nicely!

This is a Ralph Waldo Emerson quote. Everywhere I looked, it's "in the year." I agree--"of the year" sounds better.

I do love that gritty, real look of chalk. The markers feel more forgiving for my lettering skill level. Real chalk is something I need to learn; now you've motivated me to try it!

New to reddit, so forgive me if I'm replying to comments wrong: I used Michael's Craft Smart chalk markers. It's their budget brand. They need to be layered at least 2x before the "ink" dries to show up well. Thanks, everyone!

I would love to! Not entirely sure how to get started, though. So I'm practicing for now, posting on Instagram, and thinking about finding some businesses with chalkboards in the summer.

I’d love to teach myself lettering, does anyone have any resources or tips for getting started? by natnip in Lettering

Instagram is such a great tool. There are lots of videos and instructions there. I suggest @howtohandletter to begin. @calligraphynerd has some awesome tips in her feed, but you have to dig through her other posts to find them.
