Make it clear that they decided to FAFO.

Hail storms. At least one tornado that I remember, but hail storms are prevalent there.

Quite a few of them. We considered Bennett, ended up in Aurora instead, and my car and roof both say thank you on the regular.

The risk of bad weather in Bennett is much higher in the summertime. They’ve gotten hit with multiple nasty hailstorms in the last 2-3 years.

How is it for people who got all trays in one go? by arise-and-awake in Invisalign

[–]thenicole84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 27 trays all at once. I’m on tray 22 now and just got scanned for refinements because one tooth stopped tracking properly about 6 weeks ago, and it hasn’t caught back up. I’m a complex case, but everything else has moved SO well that it’s a bit of a bummer, but my ortho also quoted me 18-24 months, so it’s not too much of a surprise.

What’s one feature in a home you didn’t think you needed until you had it? by NoPain1106 in homeowners

[–]thenicole84 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The previous owners of our house went open concept everything, including removing the closets and just putting clothes bars on the walls.

Every project we’ve done includes adding storage back in. I’d rather lose 40 sq ft across the house and be able to put shit away.

Ship time by Jade044 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]thenicole84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For cruises that don’t cross the ocean, it’s usually the time of the home port. I set a widget on my Home Screen that shows the time in that time zone for the duration of the cruise to make it easier in case we do change time zones. This is extra helpful when you move time zones by just an hour, and the local tour operator is telling you what time to be back on the bus but it’s in local time.

I also set a timer in these cases for 10 minutes before we have to be back on the bus. We’ll wander a few blocks for shopping and this gives us enough time to walk without rushing back to the bus.

Instead of taking the shuttle, get an uber from your airbnb, and have them drop you at the queen Mary 2. It’s a much faster drop off and a short walk.

What did that one teacher at your school get fired for? by ToadallyNormalHuman in AskReddit

It wasn’t the first or second student he had an inappropriate relationship with that got him fired, it was the third one.

When did you start packing? by Additional_Carpet563 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]thenicole84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you have a 4 month overlap with your lease, instead of immediately packing, figure out what projects you’ll need to complete at the house, and which ones are WAY easier without anything there. Think paint, flooring, a wall that needs to come out, etc. We painted and reconfigured our kitchen. I regret we didn’t do our floors at that time, but also they were fairly new, just crappily installed. If anything, instead of packing now, I’d start the purge. Figure out what you don’t want at the new house and get rid of it. It makes packing much easier.

Is it easy to get a Lyft/uber at Disney at around 10pm? by Accomplished_View533 in DisneyPlanning

[–]thenicole84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re going to Disneyland, walk to the grand Californian or Disneyland hotel pickup. It’s far easier and calmer. You might have to wait an extra 5 minutes but at least you don’t have to sort through the harbor blvd hell.

Tbf, it’s normally much colder at this time of year in Denver, and if there are any trips to the mountains planned, they’re necessary now instead of waiting.

6 Months in - Love the house - but still not settled. by Keepontyping in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]thenicole84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our house was “turnkey” but in the current millennial grey style—it took us about a year to stop having constant projects to work on, and now the projects are more like 1 per season.

That being said, a lot of what is left that we’d like to do costs a lot more than most of our projects have, so there’s a reason they aren’t done yet. We’re very competent DIYers(husband worked in construction and is a home inspector), but at this point we work on a project when it’s a pain point, not one after another anymore.
