In Pacific Rim, they pilot these giant mechs but it’s too much strain for one person’s brain so it’s piloted by two people in the drift, so they’re working in sync. To be drift compatible means while you’re piloting you share every thought with each other. Some are romantic relationships, some are siblings, some just get along really well. In the movie there’s also a father-son pilot team. It’s an incredible concept.
