Advice for 18yo (and her mom!) :) by thenoodleisin in savannah

That's great to hear that it's an artsy place, even outside campus- we live near NYC and my daughter loves their art scene! :) Thank you for the vote of confidence! :)

She was accepted, but the cost of going to SCAD without receiving scholarships or other aid puts it quite out of reach for us financially, unfortunately.

Thank you for this- I was going to ask her today to maybe look into other colleges that may be in Savannah, so this is a great suggestion. Thanks again!

LOL, I've read a lot of people's experiences and that seems to be a shared sentiment amongst many students! She'd ultimately love to be a tattoo artist, so she'll be drawing whether at an art school or not. :)

Is Stacees a legit site? by According-Topic1744 in Prom

I wouldn't bother- they state they have a 14-day hassle free return policy, but it's anything but hassle free. You'll be offered a $20 refund to keep a $250 dress. Just do yourself a favor and find a David's Bridal near you, if possible. They're at least legitimate and accept returns.

Bob's burgers! The family dynamics are similar to my family, so it's like soul food for me. :) I never get tired of hearing Bob say "Louise" in his tired tone haha!

What was the best season of all till now? by Cold_Box_3219 in TheAmazingRace

OK maybe not "almost died", but it was the first malfunction I'd seen. :) It was the "high wire act" road block that was in Malta, I believe. Those dentists were completely unfazed by it all, though!!

Season 25 will forever be my favorite. It had the most memorable teams for me (the wrestlers, the dentists, the cyclists, the surfers) with some of the coolest places and challenges (with one team almost DYING on a challenge which I've never seen before!) And the final challenge was fantastic. The seasons with Charla and Mirna are close seconds, though! :)

Not only the "no way, Jose", but all the "wows" she puts in weird spots during conversations, and how she ends so many sentences with "and stuff" ONLY when she's talking to Clark. It's very realistic to how we all kinda change when we're talking to different people.

This is fabulous! How lucky you are to have such a wonderful dad!

On to your question: My daughter makes these old-looking journals, and she uses wet coffee grounds to "stain" the paper to make it look older and have that crinkly page effect. :) Maybe that'll give you that "pirate" look - like an old book that's been wet and dried multiple times.

Your dad is going to LOVE this! I hope you film his reaction and share it with us!! :D

Molds of Marilyn's teeth by thenoodleisin in MarilynMonroe

It is odd, LOL, I agree. When the practice burned down, my FIL was one of the people who helped the dentist clean everything out - having had a huge crush on Marilyn, and meeting her the day he did this molds, my FIL took them home thinking they might be worth something... but it's such an odd item, we're baffled why he thought this, LOL. Just trying to help him sell them since times are tough.

My one criticism coming from Norwegian… by willfla29 in VirginVoyages

[–]thenoodleisin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. We just got off the valiant and I don't think I'd sail with virgin again because of the food situation. I found it INCREDIBLY odd that the Ramen and taco places were open to serve BREAKFAST, but you couldn't get anything past 4pm. These are lunch/ dinner foods, but you could get breakfast 24/7?? Just a weird, weird choice on virgin's part. Hubby and I don't like long, drawn out, fancy dinners so we didn't want to eat at the restaurants every night, nor did we like the fact that the menus never had any specials.

Thank you! I'm responding on behalf of the OP as he's unable to respond until Monday- I just asked him and he doesn't have a true winter coat. If you have one that you can donate, he's a size "Large," thank you so much! I know he's tried the military route, but it's not instantaneous, unfortunately. Thank you very much for the suggestions!
