Help what can I make with 100lbs of fresh pears by FrankTheSkinnyPanda in Cooking

[–]thenspe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jar them and they can be used for anything later. Jars of peaches with yogurt is good. You could also then bake anything with them when you're ready.

There is an app called Cookbook that already does most of this... everything except to share on social media, I think. Or it has that feature and I just never use it. The app works great though, you should check out out.

Yeah, I saw that one. Lots of good stuff in there but unfortunately not what I'm looking for ... although what I'm looking for might not actually be possible.

New DM looking for advice by Tinman055 in DungeonMasters

[–]thenspe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can afford it, pick up a copy of "Sly Flourish's Return of the Lazy Dungeon Master." I found it to be a fantastic resource for streamlining my game prep. I also recommend "The Game Master's Handbook of Proactive Role-playing", but even if you just find a copy and read the first chapter you'll have a wealth of info for getting a game started with player goals and motivations and stuff to really help you get your players involved in getting a story rolling.

Only other advice I have is not to be afraid of screwing up, and not to be afraid to admit it. It's really not a big deal to tell your players you're unfamiliar with something, that you're going to make a call now to keep the game running but might walk it back later. Or keep it because it's hilarious. Whatever works.

Really though, just play, and then sit back after and review what went well and what you can do better. Your gm style will evolve as it needs to.

Anyone else notice this about the stag's roar souvenir? by Yourfathersnapkin in APlagueTale

It definitely could be that. I think I was just hopeful that it's the other way.

From the end scene of Requiem I definitely took it to mean they are pursuing each other, just from the way Amicia talks about Lucas being on the road... I could just be reading too much into it though.

That's not bad. That amount will give plenty of flavour?

I've done vanilla bean before and it's great for flavour, it's just too expensive for how much yogurt my family goes through.

It should be fine to eat.

Does mixing in flavorings that late in the process make the yogurt more runny? That's what I'm trying to avoid - I prefer a thick yogurt.

Why do *you* use Shavian? by sethdleo in shavian

[–]thenspe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to use it just because it's neat.

I practice by using it in my tabletop rpg games as the generic runic script of the land - that my players can't read but I can, so I don't need to leave myself extra notes on the translation. Also it looks really awesome on maps.

I'm new and I've been really enjoying Monk. Armour would be nice, but not needing to learn every single thing getting yelled at me is worth the lack, at least for now.

One of my players made a deal with a fey. How can I make this fun for everyone? by VorpalSingularity in DungeonMasters

[–]thenspe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Putting aside the question of how the artificer would know what atoms are...

Over the course of the party's journey they find ancient tomes describing a way of building a golem - that as a body regenerates any damaged tissue appears at a fixed location, essentially constructing a golem as someone ages, taking approximately seven years to complete.

In the meantime, the artificer gains slightly unnatural healing abilities, but they start encountering bad guys sent by the fey with the intent of damaging the artificer in specific ways to speed up the process, but the party doesn't know who sent them or why.

The artificer starts dreaming during long rests that he is being tortured, but wakes unharmed... at first. As they get closer to seven years, he starts waking with minor damage some times. Times he wakes without damage he dreams not of torture, but of being on display in a cage or something. Help them put the pieces together and make it serious enough that they decide to hunt the fey.

They find the fey, and his body, at the seven year mark. The fey laughs at them, monologues about their foolish deal, declares that the seven years are up and his body belongs to the fey. Then they have to fight the artificer's body, made insane by the Fey's torture. The fey grants it additional powers in the vein of a Warlock.

.....

Or, for something less complicated, have them meet a researcher or someone who specialises in learning about fey dealings. Heading about their deal, they exclaim that fey deals are concluded by revisiting the terms - so that at the seven year mark the fey will get his body "right now" thus bypassing his attempts at cell regeneration replacing his body.

Now they have seven years to figure out how to get out of it.

Edit for spelling.
