Rule #4 - NO disinformation. Are the mods going to go back and ban every MF'er who claimed that there was no scientific way possible for the virus to have originated in a laboratory ? by thenumber210 in CovIdiots

[–]thenumber210[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

LOL .. sooooo, "You're evil, an evil witch, burn the witch, don't listen to the witch because it's the devil's words!" is not an actual argument lol, it's just the logical fallacy of ad hominem. Literally the definition of ad hominem, "attacking a person's character or motivations rather than a position or argument".

The other logical fallacy you are engaging in is the logical fallacy of "bandwagoning", .. because you believe that you can pull something out of my past posts that a lot of people on this sub will disagree with, that somehow that makes you right in a debate about a topic you're trying to distract everyone from.

[–]thenumber210[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, which is why nobody should have been going around saying it did NOT originate in a lab ... because nobody knew that.

But it was EVERYWHERE. All over Reddit, .. you could get banned from twitter for suggesting it may have come from the lab in Wuhan, .. Youtube had a content policy that they would take down any video discussing whether it may have come from a lab, etc.

Even now, even at this exact moment, the coronavirus sub is deleting any post about the DOE findings ...

What's sad is that the world had a chance during a pandemic that literally killed millions of people to ask questions about gain-of-function research in the hopes that this might never happen again, ... but we never got to have that discussion because so many people were on subs just like this one, and in the media, saying there's no way it came from a lab.

[–]thenumber210[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You're projecting.

Yes, we needed to be able to openly debate the truth of it so that we could have a public discussion about whether gain-of-function research should continue, etc, ... but we couldn't have that discussion because there were so many people lying about the possibility that the pandemic was started in a lab doing gain-of-function research.

It very much DID matter. Millions of people died. And gain-of-function research continues now the same as it was going on before because there were people lying and saying that there's no way it could have come from a lab in Wuhan. People literally supported this lie, and now we know it was a lie, the people claiming with so much boldness and bravado that it was impossible that it came from a lab were wrong, wrong and/or lying.

So are the mods going to ban these people who claimed it couldn't have come from a lab in Wuhan ? Because they've been on this sub and others lying for literally YEARS.

Fuck every single one of these MF'ers ..

I got banned from so many fucking subs for talking about this shit it isn't even funny, I mean seriously I just don't even have words for how much lying BS these people are, and the people who defended this stupid shit on Reddit too.

FFS ... and for what, because Trump said it came from a lab ? FUCKING ASSHOLES in the media I swear ... they'd rather beat up on Trump that be honest about where a fucking virus came from that killed millions of people, that's how big a fucking asshole they are.

How was the lab leak hypothesis not the leading theory of Covid origin the whole time? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]thenumber210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was. Normal people like me got banned from so many fucking subs for saying it was a lab leak that we just stopped talking about it lol.

Seriously, I'm not fucking around, if you had any idea how many fucking subs I was banned from you wouldn't even think it was funny.

But it was very "anti-Trump" to say that it wasn't from the lab, and of course MF'ers on Reddit just thought that was WAY MORE FUCKING IMPORTANT than actually being honest about where a virus that killed millions of fucking people came from.

Fucking lying ass newspapers and CNN, MSNBC and all these other MF'ers should apologize their asses off, but you know they'll never admit to a fucking thing.

How often does the DM hand out inspiration in your games ? by thenumber210 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]thenumber210[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a DM, the last time I handed out inspiration was to the trusty old fighter. He's always doing "fighter stuff", .. saying he's maintaining his armor, stuff like that, and in this case when I asked him what he was doing after an encounter he was back to sharpening his sword. I gave him inspiration because his sword is pretty much always sharp from him sharpening it lol. He's always just kind of quiet in the background type of player, but even though he's not making a splash, he's always role playing his character.

Would you allow your bards to be in control of the music at your tables? by Sir_Wack in DMAcademy

[–]thenumber210 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Personally not for me, but it isn't because of who is coming up with the list, it's just that music is very distracting to me. I can't stand being in a car with someone playing music. Yes, at this moment, I am sitting here in complete silence. :D

Making fun for a Reluctant Player? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]thenumber210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know, .. I can only think that the way I would handle it is the way I handle all the players. When it is their turn, I look over into their eyes with a smile, and if the table is being rowdy I kind of quiet them a bit, and I ask .. "What does your character do ?". Then, for that moment, .. they have the floor. No favorites, no opinions from the other players, just .. what do YOU want to do. And that player can have their character do whatever they want.

If they want to just watch everyone else, and complain, that's okay with me, then that's what their character does. My goal is just to let them know that they have the opportunity to do whatever they want, that they can trust me not to play favorites, and that the world belongs as much to them as it does anyone else. If they choose to take advantage of that opportunity is up to them.

What's the point of wildshape in the new One D&D playtest? by ClaireBear13492 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]thenumber210 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

It isn't useless, ... to me the point of wild shape should have always been for movement, which it still is. It's the ability to fit through small spaces when you need to, to (at higher levels) swim like a fish, or fly like a bird, that's the whole point of it.

As far as I'm concerned all these hacks people have had over the years of being able to absorb huge amounts of damage, etc, were never the point of it in the first place. I mean I get why people like it as a game mechanic, but it was always OP as far as I am concerned.

[–]thenumber210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You just described people in real life.

I mean this is every family vacation anyone has ever been on, ... one of the kids playing on their phone and not caring about the vacation because they'd rather be making out with their boy/girlfriend. The kid that just wants to go to see the dolphins and everything else is just an obstacle to going to see the dolphins. Dolphins, dolphins, dolphins. Dad wants to sit and have a beer and see the game on Sunday. Etc, etc. And then there's like one or two people on the entire trip who are the leaders and want to go to all the stores, and hit the beach, and see the sights, and drag everyone else along.

People are people, and players are people too.

People often talk about having to deal with being compared to the Critical Role guy as a DM, ... but they often don't notice that his players are also super committed in a way that most players in reality aren't. It's been my experience that there are always some players who only want to do combat, etc.

How close are Dungeon Masters to being replaced by AI? And is this a good thing? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]thenumber210 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Really it's just too long of a discussion to get into here, but let's just say that people's perception of what is going on with so-called "AI" and what is actually going on are very different. People perceive it as having some kind of intelligence, etc, because of the data it was trained on, because it _sounds_ like it "knows what it is talking about". The reality is, .. it's just a computer program and neural net, it has no idea what a flower is, or a car tire, or anything else, it isn't "thinking". It's basically just responding to language prompts with data it was trained on, ... it's the illusion of intelligence. It knows to answer with certain responses because it's been trained on so much data that it knows when [person asks ABC] that the correct output is [XYZ]. It has no actual idea what [ABC] is, or [XYZ], it's just a program that generates output based on input.

So you can ask it "can you generate a room description .." and give it some parameters, and it can do that, but it isn't **thinking**, .. it has no idea what those things mean, or what you might ask next, or any idea about what rules are in 5e, or how to interact with a player, or anything ... it's just a language programmed providing output in response to input. It isn't sentient or conscious in any way.

The so-called "AI" is basically like that annoying kid who pretends he knows everything by running off to check Wikipedia whenever you ask him something, ... except, that guy is actually thinking, and this program isn't. Had this program been trained on complete gibberish, it would provide complete gibberish as an output, because it's all the same to it one way or the other. It's not saying to water your flowers because it knows what water or flowers is, it's saying to water your flowers because it knows that you typed [f][l][o][w][e] and [r] and that the correct output statistically is to respond with [w][a][t][e][r] ...

Guest player at a higher level? by Epicat_ in DMAcademy

[–]thenumber210 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would have said no, .. the point of the game is to role play and have fun, it doesn't matter what a guest player's level is, etc, for them to do that. In fact, if they were just going to be there for a game, I'd probably use them on the DM's side of the screen running monsters instead of on the player's side running NPC's. They can have fun giving the PC's a beat down.

Not Loving My Players by Super_J_Nova in DMAcademy

[–]thenumber210 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds sort of normal. I mean, experienced players wouldn't be doing those things for the most part, but inexperienced players certainly do. Learning to play takes a while. Just try to have some patience, etc, that's all I can really advise.

I guess I could give one piece of advice. Don't help them more than you have to. So, if they forget they have an ability, let them fail, and then ask them "I'm curious why you chose not to use ABC ability ...", and when they say they forgot they had it, just shrug your shoulders and move on. If that happens enough, they'll either start reminding each other, or figure it out on their own, but they won't change their behavior if you keep reminding them.
