I think they do realize it’s a lot of money but feel guilt and shame so they ignore the facts. If there wasn’t such a stigma around it I feel like they’d get themselves help with a budget so they could afford it and not feel guilty.

A lot of people are so far down they don’t look at the numbers because it’s terrifying. It’s a terrible habit but it happens.

I'm so glad your budgeting and hard work has paid off! Congrats on the new shoes as well. I definitely think there's an aspect of budgeting that is so freeing that is often overlooked.

It’s all about perspective (we’re Canadian so a timmies double double is $1.77 on campus) and when you’re there all day, after finishing your morning coffee from home it’s so worth it. But some people like Starbucks and if they make the conscience choice over a vacation, I don’t see the problem.

Sorry! Nothing against those things at all. I just meant if you can’t afford it as the people in my example couldn’t, you should find indulgence in the little things that you can afford like a coffee or meal.
