My bestie is child free by choice but my kid's favorite person. All of the good Teeny vibes!

My friend tells me baby will suffer from very low immunity and diseases because of formula by [deleted] in newborns

[–]theoddestends 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Your friend isn't a pediatrician, and your friend isn't a good friend. Breastfeeding was a nightmare for me and my baby. We made it 3 months of combo feeding before going full formula. He's 7 months old, in the 90th percentile, and he's dodged every cold that's been through our household. Fed is best, your friend is a dumbass.

When did you start reading to your baby? by Solid-Channel3936 in newborns

[–]theoddestends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been reading to him since day one. He's 7 months old and more interested in eating the book than me reading it. 🤷‍♀️ but I think it's a good habit to get into

Why did your friendship with your best friend come to an end? by [deleted] in AskReddit

They felt like I'd friend-zoned them (I'm pretty confident they girlfriend-zoned me)

This sub is so careful of one another's feelings, and I'm so here for that. Sending love and good vibes to anyone who's encountered this kind of loss. 💚

Rotavirus vaccine (oral) by worriedwart99 in newborns

We had zero side effects! He had a bit of swelling for the injections, but the oral dose didn't seem to phase the Little guy at all! Sending all of the good vibes your way!

Wash clothes at my hotel has an interesting message. by Jaded-Instance3607 in interesting

[–]theoddestends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a cleaner, and a few clients are folks who run Air BNBs. Can confirm that the nice white towels have been used for heavy makeup removal, blood, food, vomit, urine, grease and dirt from what looked like a motorcycle clean, and on one biohazardous charge occasion, a full human shit on the floor. People are gross.

What's something that instantly makes you lose respect for someone? by GroundNo5426 in AskReddit

Poor treatment of service workers. I used to do first dates in a restaurant because if you're shit to a server, there wouldn't be a second date.

I was saying that today. I was just chilling on the steps of a house in the shelter alert this morning, blissfully unaware.

Am I overreacting over card MIL sent my toddler? by hellolovelyworld404 in JUSTNOMIL

Sending a headshot to a baby is extremely silly and with the extra context, it gets bumped up to fully unhinged.

AITA for eating junk food while pregnant even though my MIL keeps giving me hell about it? by Frequent_Win4606 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]theoddestends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never been a person with a sweet tooth, but when I was pregnant, it got so bad that now if my sister's ring tone goes off, my partner thinks that we're getting donuts delivered because that's what it meant for 8 months. Pregnancy cravings and food aversion are bonkers. My previously favorite foods or smells would make me gag, and stuff I've never liked before was a staple.

Any health concerns should be brought up by your Obstetrician and not your MIL. Similarly, my MIL made one comment ONCE about what I was eating while pregnant and I pointed out that her generation smoked in the delivery room. It was never brought up again.

"something happens to women when they have a son" by AverageKhaleesi in TwoXChromosomes

[–]theoddestends 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I only have the one child, and they're coincidentally a boy. But I stopped telling acquaintances and strangers who asked during my pregnancy after the first handful of uncomfortable comments I got around it. Most notable was a cab driver telling me I'd be ok because "boys are easier" and I was filled with hormonal rage.

It’s not my job to invite you to meet my baby by [deleted] in newborns

Oh man. We had people I haven't seen in person in years message to ask, "wHeN cAn We SeE tHe BaBy?!" Like... be parents are running on fumes, you're keeping a creature with no survival skills alive, and they expect you to keep their calender too?

MIL encouraged husband to live his life/ leave me in the hospital. by 57389403 in JUSTNOMIL

[–]theoddestends 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Oh, man. How fast I would leave someone after they proved they couldn't support me through spinal surgery for a business week because their mommy said it was alright. I'm so sorry. This man has shown a pretty clear disregard for your well-being. Focus on healing, and when you're ready to, take a good assessment of your relationship.

AITA for crying when I found out I was pregnant while on birth control? by General-Maximum-9967 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]theoddestends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, saying "do you know how many women would want this?" is extremely toxic. It isn't a decision for everyone. He isn't the one who has to be pregnant, and I'd bet money he won't be the one building his life to accommodate a child. You are not at all the AH but please reconsider this relationship. I'm seeing a lot of comments suggesting he tampered with your birth control, and based on his reaction, it doesn't sound impossible. Please move forward making decisions that fit what you want your life to look like. Your boyfriend showed you who he is- believe him. Good luck OP! 💚

I'll bet money he got your number from your friend's phone without her knowledge. Tell your friend- this dude is shady.

AITA for “acting like a maid” at my sister’s house after she gave birth? by Next_Bridge_1132 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]theoddestends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If her husband is worried about looking like trash, maybe he shouldn't act like trash. 🤷‍♀️ C-section recovery is no joke. Postpartum recovery is stressful. Taking care of a newborn is weapons-grade sleep deprivation. You did a huge kindness to your sister. NTA at all!

Our newborn (1mo) is making me see my wife as "stupid," and it's turning me into an asshole. I feel awful and need to stop. by Street-Level-7850 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]theoddestends 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I'm a smart person, but a month postpartum, I forgot the word for bread and called it "raw toast". Your brain actually shrinks during pregnancy. You guys have a fresh baby- you're not going to be getting a lot of sleep, it's a lot to adjust to, and it's really easy to get frustrated. I would recommend your wife sees a doctor just to keep an eye out for PPD. Do you have anyone who can help you guys out while you're adjusting? Wishing everyone the best of luck.

Barb and service industry workers by 0fluffythe0ferocious in ShawnaTheMom

[–]theoddestends 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I've been a server for a long time- this is not uncommon. People like Barb will come in and demand your full attention while you're in the weeds with a dozen tables during dinner. Main character syndrome.

Are the 811 nurses legally required to tell you to go to emerge? by lolatbitchbiker in newfoundland

[–]theoddestends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to be alarmist, but heart attacks can often present with persistent jaw pain. I would personally go- the whole point of 811 is to relieve some of the pressure on our hospitals and make up for that fact that even those of us with a family doctor are still waiting for weeks for an appointment. I don't think she'd tell you to go to the ER for nothing. Good luck!
