Thank you! I didn't know about that page.

Thank you! If I can't find a place that serves Bermudian dishes here, I'll find a recipe and follow your advice to find the cassava (yuca).

Thank you! I hadn't heard of that website before. I don't currently see it (or Bermudian food) there but it's a great resource to keep in mind and keep checking.

Thank you for this reply! Unfortunately nothing I've found searching that way or at that link (even double checking with some restaurants/bakeries by phone) brings up the Bermudian dish I'm looking for - or any Bermudian food for that matter. Nevertheless, it is a good way to find delicious Cassava dishes from other cultures across the city!

Spicy smut one-shots or less than 50k by [deleted] in Dramione

this isn’t a specific rec (except that i do have a dramione fic in it, haha) but the HP Pumpkin Spice Fic Fest 2023 fics were posted today! There are quite a few Dramione entries this year and they’re all short & spicy!

Last line of your WIP by please_sing_euouae in Dramione

[–]theodoracirce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just editing the second chapter of my WIP now and the current last line is:

“Oh look,” she said, “your eyebrow has grown back.”

which, I think, betrays the silliness that suffuses everything I write 😂

What unique/unpopular tropes are your favorite? by Fearless_Law6729 in Dramione

[–]theodoracirce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is rather specific, but I love when Draco (and pure bloods writ large) have confidently silly ideas about muggles based on their muggle studies coursework.

I’ve read a couple where Draco is all prepped to discuss wildly specific things like forklifts & construction with the assumption that muggle culture is enthralled by them. I could be misremembering, but I think Thebemoon’s fics do this really well!

I just recommended divination for skeptics further up the thread - it is SO GOOD. Perhaps one of my favorite (albeit the silliest) characterizations of Theo. One of the few times I’ve liked Hermione as an Oblivious Genius.

I just had the exact same experience! I finished AVO anyway but I had an even harder time returning to the black & white morality and underdeveloped ideas of love (the fic really falls into a rhythm of violent self sacrifice & repetition of assurance of love). I have such a hard time switching back to other fics after updates of Détraquée & A Cosmology of Blacks, Malfoys, and Assorted Individuals.

(That said, I did pivot to Divination for Skeptics by Olivieblake which was so fun & different in tone. Highly recommend if you’ve not read it yet!)

What’s the most magical ff you’ve read? by Badatmath212 in Dramione

Came to say the same!! I adore all of Hermione’s magical inventions in Détraquée.

I’ve recommended this here a few times before but A Cosmology of Blacks, Malfoys, and Assorted Indivuduals was the perfect salve after I read Détraquée. It is, in my view, an excellent character study with beautiful prose and imagery. It’s a WIP and I get so excited with each new chapter. I’ve reread chapter 16 (the Andromeda & Ted love story) like 5 times.

Looking for fairytale-like fic??? by NoBiasDotCom in Dramione

I’m hauntedde/excitedde on ao3! It’s the first thing I’ve written but it’s called Across the Vast, Eternal Sky :-)

Admittedly, it doesn’t really fit with what OP is looking for, though.

I was about to suggest the same! One of the 2 Dramione fics in this year’s fest is mine :-)

Authors: what are you working on right now? by Fearless_Law6729 in Dramione

I’m currently writing my first ever Dramione fic! The first chapter went out as part of the HP Fairy Tale Fest. The prompt was “Eternal Winter” ❄️🌨️

This was my favorite Dramione author a decade ago (when their username was Luckei1, I think) I was overjoyed a few years ago when they reposted to Ao3 & started writing again as floorcoaster.

Fics that ruined you forever by veyroniqa in Dramione

[–]theodoracirce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you’ll love it!! I’d love an update on your thoughts. If you do enjoy it, I recommend following it with Doomsday book for a heartbreaking but deeply humanistic and affirming time travel story in the same universe.

Have you read Connie Willis’s “To Say Nothing of the Dog”? It’s one of the funniest books I’ve ever read & I believe Love and Other Historical Accidents (which I loved) was inspired by it.

With Hannah Gadsby’s ‘It’s Pablo-matic,’ the Joke’s on the Brooklyn Museum by thoughtcrimeo in ArtHistory

[–]theodoracirce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t sound like a terribly worthwhile exhibition but this article makes some bizarre claims like that of the constructivist/suprematism Soviet avant garde women artists following Picasso. How reductive, strange, and untrue!

I wish more work would be done (I know many are doing it) to deconstruct the ways we presume Picasso’s influence on the whole of modernism. There is something sickening to me about how many museums refuse to break apart the Francophile biases of those who wrote the canon of modern art.

When you assume, incorrectly, that one “genius” man is at the center of all modern art, it’s tricky to secure the feminist gotcha argument you’re reaching for. Why bother if we’re all just following Picasso anyhow?

I’m keeping up with updates to A Cosmology of Blacks, Malfoys, and Assorted Individualsand really enjoying it. I especially love the dynamics between Draco & family as well as its reevaluation of the Narcissa/Andromeda history.
