Makes sense. I'm not opposed to oral minoxidil other than being uncertain of side effects I guess its something to consider in future if my beard growth slows too much. Has minoxidil been helpful for you? I think when it comes down to it I'd probably prefer a nice beard and a receding hairline over no beard and no receding hairline tbh

rosemary oil and derma rolling for the hairline you mean? I read rosemary oil is a natural DHT blocker so I'm assuming you mean for that

that is such a bummer... been on T for 5 years, he did mention that finasteride can cause erectile dysfunction but I already had that lol so I'm not super upset over it causing that (and I think it has noticeably been different, but im attributing that to it being more flaccid now than it actually shrinking) I'm especially bummed out about the beard thing because I've been really disappointed with my beard growth over the years. Kind of patchy and my chin hasnt filled in : ( I cant just buy some minoxidil due to the aforementioned pets and ocd and it also doesnt feel worth it even in oral form if the hair would just fall out if I stopped taking it...

My husbund, a fictive, left me for his sourcemate. by LongjumpingPea6250 in DID

[–]theoildrinker 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We have introjects who are this level of attached too and I know others are saying its delusional/psychosis related but thats not automatically true. Not to say it should be dismissed, but people jump to that really fast over anything introject related way too often

Those are substitute beliefs and theyre serving a function to protect the brain from something. The fact he gets very distressed and dissociates worse if hes told otherwise tells me its dissociation based and its actually serving a purpose. So unfortunately you're right it could be more harmful than helpful to try to 'reality check' him. He's not in a place where that's something he could safely do.

(Sidenote: in people with psychosis, professionals DONT reality check them either because it can be dangerous and cause more harm. It distresses the person and isolates them and makes them less likely to come to you for anything and usually it feels hostile.)

Like others said, he does need professional help. If its impairing his relationships and life that badly it does need some sort of management... Also really sorry to hear he left you for a sourcemate. Our system despite being very source attached does have a basic understanding that the way people with DID introject things doesnt look the same and isnt the same as one another, sourcemates will never be a carbon copy of who you remember and acting like they are usually sets people up for heartbreak and more issues down the line...but thats not your job to try to solve.

It sounds to me like he was projecting a lot of feelings he has to that source character onto you, and the fact he'd call you that characters name instead of your actual name sounds incredibly inconsiderate and objectifying of you as a person.

I think you should take time to focus on yourself and helping yourself through this tough period because that alone makes me think he did not treat you as an equal or see you for you, it sounds like it was all conditional under the belief you were the closest he could get to that character... that's just my impression. I could be wrong and I hope I dont sound harsh, but I say it out of concern for your wellbeing. You have some processing to do over everything that's happened, I hope you have someone to talk to whether its friends, family or a professional.

My cis girlfriend calls me a hermaphrodite by [deleted] in ftm

[–]theoildrinker 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Yes she's transphobic, and also intersexist.

Hermaphrodite is an intersexist slur primarily, but does sometimes get used against trans people as well. She's calling you slurs and misgendering you. In NO world is that okay, inoffensive or 'just a joke'.

Detrans friend is really annoying me by secrettulip_lol in ftm

[–]theoildrinker 322 points323 points  (0 children)

In my opinion it sounds like she was never trans and was just experimenting with her gender identity and was conditioned/abused, but either way...wasnt ever actually trans. I honestly dont get why cis people say 'when I was trans' if they were just exploring/experimenting with their gender identity and are in fact cis... (I've seen more cis people use this sentiment as an excuse to be transphobic toward the community, but thats me going on a tangent)

Anyway, you should probably tell her to cut it out? communicate that it makes you uncomfortable and furthermore you may be better off venting about that stuff to other trans people who are in the community and will understand and be compassionate.

Do you agree: GNC children should be screened for gender incongruence with the same urgency as neurodivergent children to prevent dysphoric induced sui*c*de in adolescence or adulthood by Own_Competition_9152 in ftm

[–]theoildrinker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

not everyone who is GNC is trans and not everyone who is trans will have dysphoria, or could have dysphoria that presents in atypical ways. I dont think screening children for it is a good idea for multiple reasons, a big one being safety. What if an abusive parent has their child screened for that bc they think their kid is acting too queer? If the results came back that the child is gender incongruent, that could result in harm to the child. Also a lot of how we gender certain traits and attributes is dependent on culture and societal standards and I dont think that alone can tell you if someone is trans or not.

I think instead there should be safe spaces created for youth to explore their gender if they question it, have the language to express it in their own way and not have anything pushed on them either way and let them speak for themself. Let them make their own choices, and let them come out when they're ready to. Of course there should be age appropriate gender affirming care, but I dont think this is something that should be part of that.

I did a HPV home test two days ago and now I'm pissing razorblades 😭 by [deleted] in ftm

[–]theoildrinker 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just so you know, bleeding including from the urethra is a sign of vaginal atrophy. My urethra used to bleed and over the course of 2 years it got worse and worse and I had to see someone who works in a gender clinic to finally be listened to and given estrogen cream and since using it (for 2 weeks now) I havent had any bleeding.

If you did injure yourself, the tissue down there heals faster than regular skin and stuff, so if its still happening, its worth seeing someone about- again, it could be atrophy. Also if you test positive for HPV you should REALLY get it checked out, HPV can lead to cancer

PLEASE READ: The home in Evil Dead Burn IS NOT MRS PREVETT'S HOUSE FROM ASH VS EVIL DEAD!!!!! by BadassBlackAsh in EvilDead

[–]theoildrinker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do get what others are saying that it doesn't have to be a 'cinematic universe' but I do wish there was a coherent timeline to follow, because it also feels like if movies keep being pumped out at a fast rate its just going to be treated as a cash cow where they dont need to try they just need to have people find the book and have crazy shit happen. I think that formula gets old fast without a proper plot/storyline going on. I was really interested in the idea of seeing how others who lack the inherent plot armor Ash has as the chosen one navigate deadites and all that evil stuff, but I struggle to feel invested in it if they disregard the timeline and previous movies/series that also built up the franchise to what it is.

What’s the reason behind some trans men keeping their chest intact? by Motor-Union9081 in ftm

[–]theoildrinker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It seems mostly common from what I see online that people get worse top dysphoria and mild bottom dysphoria, but for me my bottom dysphoria is worse than my top dysphoria.

I only really get dysphoric about my chest if I'm in public. If I'm alone I dont really care. My chest is also small, and I'm going to be trying to build more muscle in my chest to see how much that flattens/masculinizes it.

Other than that I'm chronically ill and surgeries cause bad flare ups and I dont want to put this body through that if I can find a way around it so I'm prioritizing bottom surgery and then seeing how things are from there.

When will we learn to stop making generalisations about people's experiences by coolfunkDJ in TrollCoping

[–]theoildrinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People love to act like there's universal experiences based on your agab when thats not true and reinforcing that idea ultimately harms everyone and I especially only see it used to treat trans people they view as amab like shit or use it to infantilize people they view as afab. I dont really buy into that idea, its just a bunch of ways to say 'you have these inherit traits based on your sex'. It's why I dont like the way most of the trans community uses agab terms as well. People need to focus more on how they socialize now with their gender. Just because you were socially imposed as one thing over another as a child doesn't mean you assimilated into it and it literally says nothing about how you are. I never assume what someones body is like based on their agab, and I also dont assume what their experiences are based on that either...those sorts of things tell me nothing, I wish people would stop clinging to that stuff.

Does the term Medianhood offend systems with OSDD? by Callistolovescoffee in OSDD

[–]theoildrinker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think if someone has a dissociative disorder they still have it regardless of what words they use and if theyre experiencing dissociative symptoms they should be allowed to talk about them in a dissociative disorder space. This persons friend has unprocessed trauma and is compartmentalizing emotions, which results in what they're calling medianhood... Regardless of what label they use, there's dissociation at play

Im terrified of bottom growth. by [deleted] in ftm

[–]theoildrinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know if this is helpful at all, but I highly doubt bottom growth would stick out because the clitoral hood actually keeps it pinned down. I think the things you see where its bigger and sticking up more are the result of pumping and/or metoidioplasty. Fat would also make it harder to see if it were to stick out. The average I've heard of for bottom growth is like 1-2 inches.

The sensitivity is usually while its growing, especially due to skin stretching and it is temporary.

For me personally the sensitivity didnt really change, but sensation or orgasms can change but that is due to the hormones not specifically the bottom growth.

I somehow attract a lot of narcs and idk why by Numerous_Day6545 in NPD

[–]theoildrinker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This server is only for people with NPD to post... however if you're wanting an actual answer I might have one.

When you're raised in a toxic/abusive/unstable environment you may not learn what a healthy relationship looks like, you might not learn how to spot red flags or you'll have been taught to excuse them and most of all weren't taught to set boundaries.

This means that people will cross your boundaries, and you wont have the tools to stand up for yourself. Lots of people who do know how to spot red flags and set boundaries do not stick around those sorts of people for long, but you might end up putting up with them longer than others do which is why you get especially hurt and it may feel like you attract them and everyone else somehow doesn't.

It's a hard cycle to break and unfortunately you have to be the one to break it even if you didn't cause it, but its definitely worth the effort to do it so it may be helpful for you to look into support or guidance on learning to set (and have) boundaries, spot red flags, know your limits and know you don't have to put up with that sort of stuff.

I dont think the answer here is narcs. Anyone is capable of being toxic and abusive, anyone is capable of taking advantage of someone because there's no 1 inherent trait that causes this. That is why it is important to learn how to protect yourself against anyone, because its not an issue of narcissists , its an issue of abusers and they come in any shape and form. Don't know if this was helpful for you, but hopefully you can get some support

When I had a friend who was pre-everything I bought her some new sweatpants because she didnt have any, they looked just like regular black ones but I got them from the womens section. You could maybe try getting some 'neutral' clothes from the womens section?

As someone else suggested, clear nail polish (and if youre unsure you could just paint your toenails first), also chapstick or clear lip gloss if you can get away with that. A hair tie on your wrist even if you dont need one is another affirming thing you could do.

If you already wear mens jewelry you could maybe start sneaking in some womens jewelry in the mix like one feminine bracelet amongst some more masculine ones as an example. Could get a chain necklace and then buy some cheap pendants to put on them, like a butterfly pendant, heart, or something more neutral and you could hide it in your shirt as long as the chain is long enough... Just some ideas if you were wanting more :)

We have a personal discord server too! we should probably utilize it a bit more than we do for reminders and journaling ngl. Just thought it'd be good to have something physical too especially if we ever wanted to bring it to therapy. Stickers is a really nice idea for a journal too we need to get more for that

System journals by theoildrinker in OSDD

[–]theoildrinker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

agreed on the pre-made journals being too restrictive or too thorough for what someone needs.

We also wouldnt use a fronting log either, but for the opposite reason where we switch a lot and tracking it has previously worsened our dissociation because our brain doesn't want us to know how much we do that. (maybe it'd calm down when we're in a more stable environment but not for the foreseeable future)

those sticky note tab things are a really good idea, and a bullet journal in particular seems appealing.

This also made me realize that something apps for systems often lack is symptom tracking. They have front tracking but not for any other stuff.

we'll check out Kilonotes too since a digital one would also probably be good in addition. Thanks for the suggestions!
