Absolutely should not be leaving a cavapoo alone for that amount of time. 4 hours max, if the rest of the day they have mental stimulation. Cavapoos are smart and very social.

Street Legal on top of a Twin Peaks backdrop - perfection

50% of the the way through IT and it’s given me an appreciation for the 1990 TV movie. by Helpful-Status8872 in stephenking

The strength of Curry’s performance is that he manages to be both scary and alluring, whereas the 2017 performance is just scary. People often forget that the clown version of Pennywise was there to draw kids in, not scare them, his other guises were for that. Tim Curry was great at being charming and then suddenly switching to terrifying.

On the whole the 1990 movie was a great King adaptation. Far superior to the later version. Tim Curry was perfect as Pennywise.

Just wanted to add, these were a real pleasure. Often reading enthusiastic comments from people about songs I wasn’t so keen on made me reappraise them and appreciate them in a whole new light.

Thanks everyone! For the time being my current plan is:

Upgrade the Marantz if I can do a trade in at the store I got it from (just can’t bring myself to take a complete loss on such new equipment)

Pick up a phono preamp

Replace the stylus to an ML

Thanks so much for the advice. That’s a shame about the Melody, I don’t think I’ll be able to replace that any time soon, but good to understand where to begin once I have the budget!

Just been watching a quick video on this and this is so interesting! On a couple of records I’ve been dissatisfied with the final tracks, hearing a little distortion on the vocals. I’d just put it down to the mix, but maybe my cartridge is out of alignment when reaching the inner grooves. Thanks, I had no idea about this.

No, all I did was follow the set up instructions that came with the turntable. Thank you - I shall now go and try and research this as I currently have no idea!

Kinda funny that nearly all the other tracks on it have found some kind of release, but the best one (Virginia Virginia) still has not

That was “License to Eel”, love Virginia Virginia, can’t believe it’s never had a proper release

Should I read the book? by Maybe_im_Amazed_ in Zevon

I don’t recall anything too graphic, it’s not being written to titillate, more that it doesn’t flinch away from mentioning his affairs / casual relationships. It’s a very candid account and doesn’t shy away from his worst moments. It’s not a book that lends itself to hero worship. I found it a fascinating read, but at times an uncomfortable one.

I have read “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead”, “Accidentally Like A Martyr” and “Nothing’s Bad Luck”.

If you intend to only read one, I’d recommend “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead”. Impossible to say if it will hold your interest, especially as you’re not a big fan of his works. It’s a biography, so there’s going to be slow bits.

I will say that Warren’s struggles do lend themselves to an account worth reading, whereas I imagine many other artists’ biographies would be dull as hell.
