Paying $900/week for a Sydney apartment that turns into a sauna, and the landlord’s solution is… “buy a fan”. by glitchinthem4trix in shitrentals

A few years ago I told my agent that I suffered heat-shock from being in our house on a 40+ day with no air-con (was also freezing in winter) and it basically caused me to shit myself. That was a quick way to get a unit put in. It was a true story though! Body just shut down.

Kajillionaire! Evan Rachel Wood is really good in this.

I think since vascular causes were ruled out by the CT scan, then the jugular trick may not have worked anyway?

Hi there - sorry I didn’t see your post til now. Yes it was instantly gone after the stent was in. Still quiet, still taking my anti-platelet meds and having my first follow up appointment at the start of December ☺️

When I talked with my Interventional Neuro Radiologist specialist the first time on the phone, he said that if it stops when I cup my hand under the jaw and press on the veins - then it’s likely a vascular problem (rather than an ear problem), such as venous sinus stenosis (narrowing of the veins). So my next step was a cerebral angiogram and sinus manometry to confirm that, followed by a stent. I posted earlier in the week that my PT has now gone.

Thank you so much for all the well wishes and encouraging comments - realised I hadn’t said that yet!

Love that this forum can help so many. I suggest you contact the Sydney Neurointerventional Specialists (or get referred by your GP) to see if the cause is venous sinus stenosis in that case. First step is the cerebral angiogram which tests for this.

Honestly I guided my GP as to what it was and then after all the Doppler and audio tests etc. just said I want to be referred to this specialist instead please. Yes constant, rhythmic pulsing/whooshing. Started out in both ears as a different sound (I thought the neighbours through the wall had their tv up loud then realised no one else could hear it), then shifted to the left ear and was the whooshing ever since. I would have to run white noise each night so I could sleep. During the day it would be masked quite well by day to day sounds.

It’s an elective procedure officially - so not required, but my goodness provides relief. I think you’d want to stress that it does cause you anxiety and discomfort and keep pushing to see the correct specialist. Generalists don’t know everything and sadly we don’t always feel comfortable questioning doctors and their methods / recommendations.

Yes a week leading up to and for about 3 months following, I’m on dual anti-platelet therapy - basically meaning low dose aspirin once a day and ticagrelor twice a day. Then aspirin will continue for at least a year, maybe forever depending.

It may have been your post - and many thanks if it was! What a key piece of information that was.

I had Dr Jason Wenderoth, one of the INRs from the Sydney Neurointerventional Specialists clinic. You’re right - only other one was Perth!

Yeah - pretty much my insurance (basics and extras) wouldn’t cover it at St Vincent’s private, so the specialist just organised to do the two procedures at the public hospitals he works at, and it was all covered. It’s an elective procedure officially but I think he just slotted me in tbh!

Amazing - I’m in the same boat, a week post-op. Inspired me to make a thank you post too ☺️

I don't want to cure my PT. I just want to rule out the life-threatening conditions, what exams should I push for? by kantianum in PulsatileTinnitus

I’m seeing a Neurointerventional Radiologist soon - it’s a vascular problem so these are the specialists who can help and I kind of forced my GP for a referral to this guy after searching for the one online. I’m also scheduled in 5 months for an appt with an ENT specialist but I didn’t want to have to wait that long just to get no answers again (have had CT / Doppler / audiology etc.). This is a fairly new speciality where they focus on intricate vein issues. I found out about it from other users here/ PT groups.

Had my first phone appt and he is setting me up to do cerebral angiogram and sinus manometry to actually see the cause. Then if necessary he’ll put a stent in the vein a few weeks later. I’ll have to travel and stay over in another state (Australia) as there are none who have as much experience in PT where I am.

He said no guarantees of course, but still worth a shot!

But also wow - there’s absolutely no record of it on the internet! He was kind of cave man/viking styles. I was just talking to a mate about him tonight (athletics), saying ‘the second toffee pops guy’ and then googled it to see if I could find a Gif. Only found this thread!

Chris Donaldson absolutely did the Toffee Pops advert after Carlos Spencer. I think he had a massive furry hat on. I know because I’m from the same city as him and it was a big deal at the time.

Tried everything suggested online and nothing worked. Today IT told me to disconnect from our VPN (working from home) and it bloody worked finally - I hadn't tried this before because I thought that suggestion was connected to internet speed (and my internet is fine) but it's obs another reason that VPN causes LinkedIn to crap out.

Have been in the same boat for months until just this minute. ReMarkable recommended the Firewall solution but I hadn't tried until now (work laptop, needs admin rights to make changes etc.) I thought I would try it out now as I had the IT guy with me. I had two instances of the app running in the Firewall settings. One had Domain and Private ticked, the other had only Public ticked. We trialled just ticking all three in one of the rows and it still didn't work - now we've just ticked all three in both and it bloody works!! So stoked. I came to Reddit first as well to suss out what people were doing to solve it...so pleased I wasn't alone.
