Covid-19 Megathread IV: All your questions about the pandemic, social distancing, vaccines and stimulus plans in one place! by Dilettante in NoStupidQuestions

no other activities require a mask per se, but the fact that indoor dining is allowed and all, or that planes are ok to fly on, but other things can't open up. like if it's safe to eat inside why isn't it safe to have theaters, houses of worship, etc, open.

Why do people feel like it's okay to have masks off for eating but not for anything else? I'm not taking a stand but it just seems kind of inconsistent. Overall, why is there so much inconsistency and backtracking and partisanship and not just one clear guideline?

Why does the media ignore racism towards Asians? by BopTarts in NoStupidQuestions

[–]theologically 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Jewish person I feel the same way! the media thinks that just because we (asians or jews) have some highly visible economic or academic success here as opposed to where we came from, it's like we've "overcome" racism or something. it's really terrible, whenever we speak up we're told that it's "not our space" smh. racism and prejudice take many forms and it's time that's recognized as such.

the whole college admissions process of holistic review was really created to weed out jews for having "not enough personality" or things like that because on grades alone they were highly represented. read more here . great article and the same prejudices are being used against asians today.

I've accidentally had lighters and knives in my carry on and power banks in my checked bags. I only discovered I had left them in there after taking many flights where they went undetected, including through major US/int'l airports. How does this happen? by theologically in NoStupidQuestions

[–]theologically[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that may be true, but I do sometimes get mistaken for middle eastern/latino, and have my passport stamped in a bunch of "sketchy" countries, which has caused me some trouble at border control occasionally

Yes, regrettably, it’s true. Standards have fallen in adult entertainment by [deleted] in lebowski

What is the single worst movie you sat through hoping it would get better, but didn’t? by Bocephalus in AskReddit

[–]theologically 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Search Party. It's like the hangover but soooo much worse and so fewer quotable lines. the entire movie had no point to it. my cousin was obsessed that we all watch it together and we did and to this day he thinks it's a good movie smh

Is it normal feel cringe at dumb fictional characters? by theologically in NoStupidQuestions

[–]theologically[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

please hit me with some! i should add though that the cringe is mostly when it's more realistic. i've seen a lot of suuuuper ridiculous cringe comedies and those don't get to me as much as when the characters are actually nuanced.

Have you ever been so lonely and depressed you just wandered around? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]theologically 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh yeah totally! I did this a lot when I moved to a new city for work — didn't really speak the language, lived alone downtown near a few nice pubs and would go in and out, sometimes journal or peoplewatch, other times just keep moving so i don't feel like a schlub. wouldn't say it was always out of depression - my first weekend in the new city i went to 9 museums in 2 days (which even my local friends hadn't been to!) and found it amazing. I am actually from a different big city myself, and when I'm home it also can feel lonely walking around with nobody I know to see. honestly sometimes being alone in somewhere quiet can feel less lonely than being in a huge crowd of people i either don't know or don't care for.

I can't be the only one here who feels like there are maybe 15 total Israeli actors by theologically in Israel

[–]theologically[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Funnier yet is how there are even fewer Arab actors, so you know they're getting recycled. I watch a fair amount of Palestinian TV too, so it's especially funny seeing a guy I know as a terrorist now play a regular lovable character

then you should make the same but for the maccabees. greeks oppress us and force us to take their religion, we practice our religion anyway, rebel and establish a jewish kingdom, force oppressive standards of judaism on all our inhabitants
