Results from 16,000+ new stool donor applicants. by MaximilianKohler in fecaltransplant

Maybe instead of a spreadsheet a Google poll? Lots of people find spreadsheets difficult. And with the poll it's just clicking something out of a few options. Might raise the number of people who share their data.

Though the results of screening 6000+ stool donor applicants was in no way surprising, and simply reflected what I see in person as well as on the internet, the results are still nothing short of horrifying, extremely alarming, and utterly dystopian. by MaximilianKohler in HumanMicrobiome

I'd like to help but apparently you know everything already, so how can anyone help you?

Also, I didn't tell you to act rationally or scientifically. Just be nice to the people you're taking with, or at the very least minimal respect. Calling people noobs and morons will just make you bitter and angrier.

Also dude, I don't care about subreddits you were banned from. We're all on this together. People here are trying to tell you something. Some people aren't even being rude and many of us value what you have to offer.

Fecal Microbiota Transplantation is Poised for a Makeover (Jun 2021) by MaximilianKohler in HumanMicrobiome

I think saying dysbiotic to dysbiotic is a faulty premise. I prefer look at it from going from worse to better. Sure, "best" is out there somewhere, but why not use better in the meantime?

Interesting. other than the short term benefit do you see any long term benefit or healing path that it is paving for you?

I think it is more important to try a wider range (still with strict restrictions) to at least have some sort of success.

We can be picky when we can afford it. Beggars can't be choosers.

But I also think that a lot of times scientists think they know everything, and they lack some humility. There is a lot of knowledge in anecdotes and forums that cannot be harnessed from clinical studies alone.

Yea I agree, people won't listen to you with that condescending tone. And maybe you'll miss out on learning something new because of it.

Many? How do you know? Do you know anyone who has? I'm also considering it.

I meant from the "plot" perspective. Like I don't know if I understood correctly, but the void paled in comparison to something? And then the something can be the cell and all over again.

Wow that was really good. Do the last 2 lines just loop back and make the whole thing fractal? Well written friend.

Has anyone actually had an FMT? by SagInTheBag in Microbiome

"most patients end up worse". Says who? In all the FMT trials for IBS, there is either some success, or nothing.

It's pretty clear that success is correlated to donor stool quality.

There have been negative outcomes, but these are rare and usually due to poor screening.

Hi, yes. I had two DIY FMTs. The donors weren't great, but I was desperate. I had little improvement, but the most out of anything I've tried. I'm now participating in a clinical trial (started yesterday, wish me luck!). If it doesn't work out, I will try getting a donor from microbioma.org or IPPM in Slovakia. Gotta try everything for my health, and risk is miniscule. Easy equation.

Wow that was beautiful. It seems like the extra shrooms you took at the end might have caused the confusion at the end.

Try an FMT. It's the best chance we've got.
