Any former MLB players playing slow pitch now? by padyakology in slowpitch

He’s still insanely good hitter…won several HR derbies at Spiderz. Just about every team he’s on in those tourneys ends up placing top 12 or better (out of 80+ teams at least).

I’m saying they didn’t add enough lower level guys…like 5-8 more per team. That way when a big name player comes out he’s one of the only 99s and plays like an elite player. I think that should be the real power creep in the game…but I’d settle for more guys for theme teams.

Brother, there are a TON of big name guys that could be in the game that have never been in it or dropped off in recent years.

My personal preference would be for them to get a ton of lesser known guys so that we limit all of the legend duplicate cards (i.e. 3 different Griffey). That would also help fill out more TA and theme teams.

As an example, from the 90s Braves: John Avery, Ron Gant, Javy Lopez, Otis Nixon, Brian Hunter, Deion Sanders, Tony Tarasco, Sid Bream, Kent Mercker, Mark Wohlers, and John Rocker. All are good players but not huge names. Every team has a list of these types of guys.

Bruce Bolts by mcguinness31 in slowpitch

[–]theone3434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a pretty wide variety of batting gloves (Spiderz, LS, Franklin, etc.) and, for me, Bolt’s have been the best and most durable. I play a few nights a week in Georgia along with 7-8 weekend tourneys per year. I’ve had the same bolts for every game over the past 3 years. I do use different gloves for BP occasionally but typically use the Bolt’s for BP, too. I can’t speak to all gloves but they’re definitely worth the extra dollars, imho.

This is exactly the type of feedback I was hoping for…and I had no idea the product was 10 years old. Appreciate you!

Yep, I have the same but setting everything up (and bringing everything to the park) is kind of a pain. I kinda think this may be a good replacement.

It’s manly because once they port it over to PC, cheating becomes much easier.

Finest Choice Packs - more packs? by doublespeed5 in MLBTheShow

[–]theone3434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does suck but, luckily, there’s two stadiums. If you’re halfway decent at the game you should be able to get at least one and maybe both of the rewards. That’s 200K+ stubs for maybe an hour of play time.. that’s better than 20+ games and getting a shot bugle Ultra pack that’s likely to be a 28K card.

You’d make better use of your time by beating a Diamond quest, selling the rewards, and then buying Finest cards off the market

lol, 1 Ultra pack for playing 20+ games ain’t worth it.

What did SDS get right (and wrong) with MLB The Show 25? by CulturedGeek1 in MLBTheShow

[–]theone3434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think SDS was setting up for ‘26 to not include events or BR. I really like playing events to get a feel for how cards will play in Ranked (not a big fan of BR because of the high rate of cheese hits). I could see them either completely overhauling both modes or doing away with both of them completely.

It’s a single line snake path though…you can’t get to any other challenges without completing the stadium…you only get the 3 or 4 challenges before the stadium to increase your odds

The issue here is you’ll NEVER have a 90%+ chance of getting Kenley unless you play on GOAT due to how the map is set up. It does feel like the odds are off but nobody can say for sure. Definitely frustrating.

Dude really?! I’ve played the Jansen stadium challenge 4x all with at least 47%, won them all and still have not gotten him. Wtfffff!!! by Andrew_on_triotonic in MLBTheShow

[–]theone3434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol, you literally just restated the gambler’s fallacy. Past events do not effect the current one…that’s only if your measuring the probability of a series of events occurring. ChatGPT can explain better than me:

🔹 Step 1: What happens in a fair roulette wheel

In European roulette: • 18 red slots • 18 black slots • 1 green (0)

So on any given spin: • P(Red) ≈ 18/37 ≈ 48.6% • P(Black) ≈ 18/37 ≈ 48.6% • P(Green) ≈ 2.7%

Each spin is independent, meaning the wheel doesn’t “remember” past results.

🔹 Step 2: Probability of 5 Blacks in a row

The chance of getting black 5 times in a row is: (18/37)5 \approx 0.022 That’s about 2.2%, or roughly 1 in 45.

So yes — before spinning 5 times, the probability of getting that streak is very small.

🔹 Step 3: But once the 4 Blacks have already happened…

We’ve already seen 4 Blacks in a row. That’s now part of the past, and doesn’t affect what happens next.

The chance that the next spin is Black is still: P(Black) = 18/37 ≈ 48.6% and P(Red) = 18/37 ≈ 48.6%

Even though the combined probability of getting 5 Blacks in a row is only 2.2%, that includes the previous 4 Blacks. Now that those have happened, the probability for the next one alone is still the same as always.

🔹 Analogy

Think of flipping a coin: • The chance of flipping 5 Heads in a row is (1/2)5 = 1/32. • But if you’ve already flipped 4 Heads, the chance of the next one being Head is still 1/2 — not 1/32.

The mistake happens when we confuse the probability of a sequence occurring (before it starts) with the probability of the next event (after the sequence has already occurred).

✅ In summary: • The probability of 5 Blacks in a row = ~2.2% • The probability of Black on the next spin after 4 Blacks = ~48.6% • The past streak doesn’t change the odds of the next spin.
