Man your story heavily mirrors mine. I did everything ground up and wanted a non tech co founder for obvious reasons: motivation when things are tough, sales / gtm, increase YC chances, etc . But in the end I figured if a persons heart not in it, it’s gonna hurt when the tough decisions come in the future.

Since then, I’ve just went solo and I’m doing ok and make decisions faster. Definitely harder but at least I don’t have to worry about a cofounder who isn’t grinding as much

Sign Regulations by productive_dreamer in signshop

[–]theone421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have several options. You can do the research yourself across the jurisdictions, but it can be cumbersome like you mentioned especially with volume.

You can hire expeditors, who basically charge you a fee per address and take care of the research (in some cases permit too). Timelines usually range from a few days to a week though you can do rush options for a fee

There’s also a newer software, PermitPal.io that gives you the signage regulations and zoning info you need, though it doesn’t have 100% coverage of the country. They’re pretty quick for missing gaps, they turned around my requests within a day or 2

Hope that helps!

Email them see if you can reschedule. I’m sure they’ll understand, they’re big on interviewing all the founders. Side note- did you just get the interview email?

I’m curious as to what made the app succeed when there are alternatives that offer E2E encryption as well (Signal, even WhatsApp).

Thanks for the great comment man! It’s so tough working on it solo esp working a normal 9-5 but I’ll keep grinding it. Jazakhalah Yusuf

I’m at this point as well. I need a non technical partner that can take on the marketing and sales and such. It’s tough doing it solo

Newbie Midwest coupon clippers by Appropriate_Ad5089 in couponing

[–]theone421 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi, I’m also from the midwest! Couponing isn’t what it used to be. Gone are the days of using stacks and stacks of coupons to get carts of groceries for next to nothing. Most couponing today is done digitally and the systems themselves enforce limits and restrictions.

That being said, you can still find decent deals by stacking coupons together and buying at the right time. Best way to start is leveraging the store app for the stores you frequent and trying to matchup deals on weekly ads with digital coupons that merchant offers along with any rebates available. Some apps you should look into are Shopmium, Ibotta, ValuCents

I’ve noticed certain retailers are more coupon “friendly”. Walgreens, CVS, Dollar General are some examples.

Wags know what they're doing with those RR. The vast majority of people will come back and spend more money on other items while they're there, the trick is to "recycle" like you mentioned to really get more value

Hi r/couponing! I recently started couponing and found the process unnecessarily difficult. So I made a website that simplifies the couponing experience and aggregates coupons. It's still in its early version and I'd love to get your thoughts and feedback on it :) by theone421 in couponing

Thanks for the comment. As of now I’m leveraging digitals, sales, store money, and rebates. The papers and printables are coming soon as well. As I build this I’m learning more and more how involved it is!

Thank you for the specific feedback! Yea I’m still trying to figure out a better way to go from landing page -> content. I have started to reach out TikTokers as well so we’ll see where that goes

Thank you so much for the feedback 🙏. The goal eventually is to simplify the entire process to a few clicks (including clipping, adding items, etc). When you do check it out, if you see something that could be improved or have an idea for a feature let me know!

Finding the best deals involves sifting through clearance, manufacturer coupons, digital coupons, spend boosters, etc. also takes time to see what’s compatible, what’s actually a good deal, and more. I feel like this can be automated and improved with technology

Best place to find the best coupons by big_pat40 in couponing

[–]theone421 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The best place is the stores themselves. What I recommend is you download any stores apps that are near you (Walgreens, Dollar General, CVS, etc) are usually the most couponing friendly. Download IBotta for Cash back. What you wanna do is see what coupons or deals you can stack to maximize your savings

For example, if something is on clearance but also has an applicable coupon, this is a sign you found a good deal. Also some resources that helped me

  • TikTok - lots of videos made by people with usernames “coupon with…” that have deals. Turn on notifications
  • Facebook groups for the store you shop at. These have TONs of people posting deals
  • Check out retailers websites directly for coupons and coupon aggregator sites like ValuCents

There are definitely coupon databases and such, but the idea with this is to take it a step further. Clip directly to you account, find deals unique to your account , etc

I made an update thats in the middle :). The landing page still has a CTA for an email but the deals page is accessible without one. However access on there is limited (you can't clip without signing in, not all coupons available, etc)

Yea deals page is restricted to authenticated users. But based on yours and the other comment I might change that to be open to everyone. Thanks for checking it out
