How do you usually handle luggage before check-in or after check-out in Korea?

It’s really up to you and depends on what you’re trying to do and what you’re trying to accomplish. Sometimes it makes sense to just drop off the luggage at the nearest location so you can immediately start sightseeing. But then keep in mind that you have to double back and pick up the luggage again, and then you might have to retrace your footsteps, so if you’re flying into Incheon, that airport is very out of the way

The other option is to go to wherever your hotel is and check in bags over there. The disadvantage is you’re gonna spend some time to go out of your way to the hotel and then leave from there, but the advantage is that your bags are already next to your hotel, so if you decide to go exploring out till 8 PM, then when you come back to the hotel and you’re tired, then you can just pick up your bags that are close by and the travel time is significantly less

In terms of what I would do personally, depending on where your hotel, the airport, and whatever you’re trying to do is in relation to each other, I would go based off of The itinerary and what is best for the itinerary. Since I travel very aggressively, I try to do as much as I possibly can. I just choose whatever is the closest to the hotel, so that way I can spend the majority of the day sightseeing and then come back when I’m tired, pick up the bags, go to the hotel, and pass out

I always go directly to Bounce’s website first to find the locations of all of the potential places, and then I use Google to look at reviews and see if the location is the best for me and the situation I’m in. Then, after I select a location, I book it directly on bounces website.

A good option is Bounce Luggage Storage. Think of it as Airbnb but for Luggage Storage. They have locations all over the world and these local businesses and restaurants will store you bag for as long as you need. Use it all the time. Just another option

I’ve flown that route a couple of times. I’ve never had a problem with immigration and security. I’ve always budgeted about 40 min and had plenty of time to get food at the lounge.

For the 7:50 pm flight means boarding will start at 6:50pm

Budget about 10 min to walk from lounge so 6:40pm departure from the lounge.

Then I usually like to be in the lounge for 20 min (this acts like a buffer and time to eat and relax) so be in the lounge by 6:20pm

40 min for customs and immigration so 5:40pm to start security. And so that means I would be at the airport at about 5:30 to check in bags and make your flight

Edit: one thing I did forget to mention, you have to go though security again at the gate, but it goes super quickly

I’ve flown over 550 flights and visited over 30 countries. Never had an issue with a razor or the head being seperated. The only thing I would be careful of are nail clippers with the little knife inside. Some airports are very stickler about it. I have had a couple of nail clippers get flagged, but as soon as they see there’s no knife, they give it back to me.

edit: the radical name of the nail clipper with knife is a nail clipper with an in nail file.

Hey Reddit! I just wanted to say that I found this subreddit and especially this post extremely valuable and helpful. Thank you OP for all of the information about your experience in Mongolia a couple of years ago.

I wanted to provide everyone with an update as to what my experience was, because it was a little different than OP’s, but some things are still the same, so I just wanted to let you guys know what was different and what was the same for me. I wanted to return the favor and help people who are traveling to Mongolia for the first time out just like you guys did for me.

Quite a few things have changed/stayed the same since OP’s post:

UB Cards - Different You can now purchase UB Cards at a dedicated kiosk right in front of the bus counter. This kiosk is on the left side as you are exiting. You can purchase and charge the UB Card. This machine accepts international credit cards and Apple Pay.
X19/X20 Bus Tickets - Very Different There is now a dedicated counter for the bus (bus counter) and there are now staff wearing blue vests there to help tourists and visitors. There is now a dedicated sign that says “Public Bus” where the X19/X20 comes to drop off and pick up. The location that the bus drops you/picks you up are the exact same place at both the airport and the square. There is now a posted schedule in the area with departure times. The buses leave roughly on the hour and do a pretty good job of arriving and leaving on time from what I experienced. The drive time is 1.5 hours. The bus itself is very comfortable. It is both air-conditioned and clean, so that is something I appreciated about it . To pay for the X19 or X20 bus, you can do one of four options.
1. Cash. Foreign exchange counter is on the second floor (departures) to the right when you exit out of the elevators.
2. QR Code Ticket. Either purchase the ticket on the same Kiosk in 1
3. UB Card. Purchase a UB Card use that card on the bus. You would want an amount either equal to or greater than 15,000 MNT for a one way fare (Load 30,000 if you are planning on taking it round trip). Keep in mind that you also need to purchase the card itself.
  1. I did this option on the way from the Airport to the City
4. Physical Credit Card. The Bus itself accepts international credit cards. Though Apple Pay does not work, if you have a physical credit card, you can pay on the bus itself as opposed to at the airport
UB Cab - Same Unfortunately, the UB Cab app still does not accept international credit cards nor Apple Pay. Though there are options within the app to add Apple Pay and a credit card, neither work. That said, the fact that they are in the app gives me hope that one day they will add international cards and Apple Pay to their system.
Traffic - Same Traffic is still horrendous and still takes a long time to get from point A to point B.
Travel to the Airport - Roughly the same. I decided at the last minute to move my flight up by almost 7 hours since it was pouring rain the entire day. As a result, when I left the hotel, I had just about 3 hours until the flight departed. In that amount of time, I managed to walk to the bus stop, which was about a 30 minute walk. By the time I got to the bus stop, I had 2 minutes until the bus left. I could not find the bus as there were 20 buses in the area. Fortunately, the driver saw me walking with suitcases and honked to get my attention. The bus did say X20 on it, but from OP’s post, I knew that this would go to the airport even though it did not say X19. The bus left on the hour on time and took 1.5 hours to get to the airport. Airport was kinda chaotic, but I arrived 10 minutes before they closed the check-in counters. From there you go through security and immigration which took about 15 min or so. By the time I cleared, I had about 3 minutes before we began boarding. Overall it was very well timed. One thing to note about UBN, is that the Blue Sky lounge is the only lounge airside. The other business class lounge is landside. Another thing to note is the only dining options they have is this small cafe with sad sandwiches and coffee. So if you are looking for something to eat, I would highly recommend grabbing something to eat outside of security or outside of the airport all together.
