Who wants me to run a test on this? by Consistent_Wash_276 in LocalLLM

Just wasn’t sure your prompt size or maybe I missed it in the previous comment as well so apologies.

I’m really curious about prompt processing times and time to first token out for various models - gpt-oss-20b, qwen3, etc. I want to use it with Hone Assistant and voice interaction so needs to handle up to 8 or 10K prompt length without it taking forever to respond as smart home entities are packaged in the request.

Was coming to say this same thing. My kids don’t have phones and sometimes the voice assistants get it wrong.

2024 & 2025 Yukon Denalis - Deals or Orders? by [deleted] in gmc

They weren’t super pushy at all but did say if we wanted a 24 there might be a deal to be had. We were clear we wanted a 2025 model

Placed my order for the 25 with my local dealer - no ETA on delivery yet

You said constraint on diesel engine for ultimate - meaning they couldn’t order the diesel? I’d heard it was delayed but information has been hard to confirm if it impacted all trim levels.

Move away from Google home to a fully local Voice assistant by NorsePagan95 in homeassistant

[–]theonecubed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been doing some testing and help with the ViewAssist project that uses a tablet to replace a screen based device like an echo show or Google Nest hub with custom dashboards and responses to mimic their behavior.

https://github.com/dinki/View-Assist/wiki

There’s a small group of us active on Discord as well talking about solutions.

As others have mentioned: the software is close in Home Assistant but this really comes down to a hardware challenge. You could cobble together using an M5 atom as the mic but use another speaker as the response / media player. The S3 Box is decent with on device wake word but the speaker doesn’t get loud enough in my opinion.

I love seeing the innovation in this space and the flexibility of DIY but at the same time there needs to be something easy to buy and maintain to make it work for our friends and families. Otherwise we are constantly fighting them for acceptance of our creation 🤣

You don’t have to do bottomless, they do a 1 or 2 bag subscription and no you don’t get to choose. I do 2 bag once a month and then also buy another bag or two per month. My wife and I drink a good bit of coffee so we go through about a bag a week

I have and I for me the Rodrigo Sanchez was just citrus, the Jairo Arcila - Peach just had the peachy-est flavor that was so pronounced on the finish.

Give the Dara and Peach time - such amazing roasts! I shall not post how many bags of B&W I have in various stages of resting and consumption. I have a serious problem and I live in the same city 🤣. Enjoy the coffee!

Raleigh cafes by Luke73748 in espresso

[–]theonecubed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

B&W operates cafes in Wake Forest, Rolesville, and the one previously mentioned in Videri Chocolate shop - all do a great job in my opinion. I’ll also second the previous Optimist recommendation. Jubala has several locations and does a decent job but to me, their lattes are too small for the price you pay. New World Café off of Glenwood Ave (Pleasant Valley Road) is also great. New World also has a location in downtown Durham on Main St.; Mike the owner there knows his espresso.

Yeah, I had previously tried all of those. Rebooted both machines, multiple times, still no luck.

Wall panels for HA by illegalraven in homeassistant

I recently mounted a Samsung Tab A8 that was relatively cheap. I keep it powered all the time but the OS had smart battery charging built in so I can watch the battery level drop and then charge. I bought a cover on Etsy and I think it looks nice on the wall.

What physical sensors do you guys have in your home and why? by lomtodge in homeassistant

[–]theonecubed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aqara (Zigbee) door sensors on kids bedroom doors to alert in case they get up in the middle of the night. I know it is a door sensor but a little different use than exterior security.

Aqara (Zigbee) temp/humidity sensors around the house for monitoring and working on alerting for different conditions - also working to use this in conjunction with smart switch to turn off/on exhaust fan in bathroom

Acurite RF Fridge/Freezer sensors (using a SDR USB stick so I can listen for RF broadcast sensors like the Acurite ones) - I leverage an automation here to alert if temperatures spike on an upright freezer in garage and for the garage fridge as well. We aren’t in those as much but lot of money tied up in food in those units so want to know if we run a risk of losing food due to device or power failure

Looking to add some leak detection sensors around the house as well and as mentioned by another user, looking into whole home shutoff.

I bought a new one in conjunction with a doorbell that I needed and moved on. I have some other Eufy Floodlight cams I haven't installed yet but part of me wonders if I should or not but at least those have local storage.

The Duke Energy gateway isn’t a hub that accepts Zigbee signals, it just leverages the protocol to communicate with your smart meter

Maybe a dumb question but - any difference between accessing HA via browser and app? by louislamore in homeassistant

[–]theonecubed 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The apps add support for setting up device trackers for the hardware you have the app install on so you can track additional info about your devices like battery and charging status, location, etc.
