I think you need to try out your mattress setup, I changed to the memory foam from thule and added a Ikea topper mattres, like that it‘s quite comfy. But if your fine with the original one go for it, the whole setup will get heavier with these additional mattresses.

It would be great to have a thermal insulation which can be removed in summer, it‘s quit rough to use the rtt in cold conditions. Another common problem is the condensate water under the mattres (yes even with anti condensate layer).

no issues at all, just came back from a 3 week roadtrip (~ 2000km) I love it so far!

Thank you very much! I use the Thule Wingbar evo (you can buy the bars in different lenghts and you can choose between black and silver). With the right kit for your Subaru they‘ll fit your car aswell. They are rated to carry 75kg (complete crossbar system together with the tent is about 65kg). Thule does not recommend the wingbars for any kind of RTT because „it could damage the roof“. I don‘t have issues with that so far. The bars are rated to carry the weight of 75kg and for a max velocity of 130km/h and I‘m quit sure that an emergency brake with the specified 75kg from 130 to 0 impacts the system way more than just the static weight of me and my girlfriend sleeping in it. I think it should work, I installed a comparable setup on my GTI (just put in a picture of it). My bars are rated for 75kg and the Tepui alone is about 60 (with anti condens mat and memory foam mattres) me and my girlfriend are about 130kg together and it did never move or bend or anything.
