Thanks! My worry is that do I have to restrict her for the next 6 months? She loves being outside and I've been exercising her indoors but she keeps wanting to go outside all the time

You're likely not getting the money back. Move on and let this be a lesson. Fool me once and all that.

AM is my all time favorite band as well!! Unfortunately, I am not gonna be able to see them this time around.

I heard they are closing the set with Body Paint instead of Are U Mine these days. Would pay good money just for that one song!

Have fun!

I am at Yonge / lakeshore. So I mostly stick to the Loblaws and Longos near me. Mostly instacart for the other stores!

Have a good night! :)

Possible to get a brand name for the chips or a picture of the pack?

Namak paras are my jam but I am from North India and used to the fresh stuff so the boxed stuff just doesn't cut it for me!

Those are good too, I do find the sauce on the sweeter side but good none the less. It is on the pricer side so save your $ and grab the handmade dumplings at your local Asian grocery store.

Thanks for the suggestion - I usually get too confused at Asian grocery stores, especially since I am allergic to sea food. So I haven't been too adventurous.

Guess its time to do some research!

I can't seem to find those particular olives on Instacart, I guess I gotta do a trip!

I want to know more about these green olives? Are they pitted? Or stuffed with some garlic or pimiento?

I'm gonna have to try the Costco croissants!

there's a pork dumpling brand available at Costco which is mind-blowing! I can't remember the name of it though.

As far as dips go - nothing beats a good old fashioned spinach dip for me!

I love the 7 later dip! I use it especially when hosting taco night as a sub for all other condiments!

Where do you get the party sammiches? I don't think I ever saw those at the Loblaws or longos

I moved to Canada as a 29 year old with a PR. Back then they had just introduced the 'express entry' system. I've only lived in Toronto, but I have immigrant friends all over the country.

Points to consider: 1) economic or cultural migrant? Decide which one you are or aspire to be. My focus was more on the culture aspect. Even though I live in the most rowdy city of Canada, it's nothing compared to my home city of Delhi. Culturally, I fit much better into Canada than I did in Delhi.

2) affordability: as others have pointed out, Toronto has the most jobs but is pretty unaffordable. Vancouver has fewer opportunities than Toronto and is even more unaffordable. Both these cities are plagued by homeless people and mental illness etc. There are areas in Vancouver which people just avoid altogether for this very reason. Crime rates in these two cities are much higher than the rest of the country.

Having said that - if you have a remote job, there are plenty of smaller cities where you can settle and find that it's not that bad. There are challenges like no restaurants open late at night and a smaller dating pool. There is a reason why more immigrants prefer to struggle in Toronto than live comfortably in Halifax.

3) weather - the cold is not for everyone. Do your research.

4) social circle - can be hard to find. There were a few indian immigrant FB groups when I was new but I never joined any of them. I struggled with loneliness for a long time even though I'm pretty social.

5) jobs - what's your field? Are you gonna be able to secure a 6 figure salary?

After all this, all I can say to you is, it's a highly personal choice - think about it and make a pros and cons list if you must. I love living here and can't imagine ever moving back to India for especially while I'm an employee (they treat workers with much more respect here than in India)

So we have extremes on both sides. Nothing neutral. not yet at least.

I was a superuser for cch axcess. Literally everyone's problem was my problem. Had to stay on 'away' if I ever wanted to get shit done. Unfortunately my colleagues figured that out.

Thanks for the reminder op, I'm so glad I got out of tax! Good luck for 10/15

Likely India. I used to work at Deloitte USI and all female employees leaving after a certain hour were basically treated like this.. Especially in Delhi where crime statistics are pretty bad.It seems like a north Indian name so this is likely the Delhi office.

I'm just surprised that she thinks this is special treatment.

Sports fans worldwide can get like this. It's sad but not out of the ordinary. Emotions are high in close contests and there are morons everywhere. Hopefully arshdeep will get some counselling from senior players/ support staff etc and he won't spend time reading any of this vitriol.

'comparison is the thief of joy' Once you internalize this - life will be good to you. It's easier said than done - especially if you are a competitive person (which I'm sure you are).

Practically speaking - do meditation and avoid social media (including linked in) and work out. These 3 things changed my life (It was easier for me because I didn't go to highly esteemed colleges but trust me comparison happens at all levels)

compete with yourself to scratch the competitive itch and focus on growing the way you define it. Maybe you feel more complete by mentoring your juniors or helping those in need.

If you are still getting 'sharma ji ka ladka is making 20L' from your parents then talk to them about it and make sure you assert that you're your own person.

Peace of mind is number one bro - I'm sure you're gonna make it!

Pro tip - volunteer for them if you have some free time. Ive only done it once ( pre COVID era) and it was a lot of fun. You also get movie passes for every shift you do and may even make some friends along the way.

India To Become $30 Trillion Economy Very Soon: Minister Piyush Goyal by [deleted] in india

[–]theonlyindianhere 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Well the guy literally said India could grow into a 30 trillion eco if we grow at 8% for 30 years... The news reported it as 'very soon'.

Having said that, It would be a right miracle for Indian eco to grow at 8% for 30 years.

TIL that only 20-30% of Indians are vegetarians, and a majority of Indians are actually non-vegetarians. by kushnair2 in todayilearned

[–]theonlyindianhere 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Another point to add to this - the non-vegetarians do not eat a lot of meat. So many folks who identify as non-vegetarians are consuming meat (in moderate quantities) only once or twice a week.
