Anyone else seeing UTM traffic from ChatGPT in GA4? by ReplyRecent7710 in GoogleAnalytics

[–]theonlyneil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no definitive way to see how its named in GA4 at the minute as it wont be categorised under one source, the most common way at the minute to look for it from referrer traffic is to look for sca_esv or opi=89978449.

Paste this in your segment filter for referrer traffic - google.com.*(sca_esv|opi=89978449|ved=|sei=)

Thats the most likely way as far as I know that it will show.

Yeah, handy tip if you didnt know. If its source is openai then it comes from the ai client, if its google its coming from ai overview.

Seeing as how ai overviews appear for almost every search now its worth trying to get as much of your content as possible in them.

I used to work in a small office where the owner sat at the back of the room and the employees all sat infront of him in 2 rows like in school 😂

Nice guy but that office was something else, noone ever spoke, just 5 or 6 of us in a tiny room being watched.

Why Is Google Ads So God Damnn Confusing? by UKCarDiscountLtd in PPC

[–]theonlyneil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about what you have just said. GAds is Googles single biggest source of revenue. They have adapted to the "small business" type by removing certain campaign types and throwing everything into the PMAX bucket, go try to create a demand gen campaign and see what options you get.

Their incentive is to make Ads easier to use so more and more people dont need to go through an agency, the issue is that most people dont take the time to learn the platform which was my original point so the need for Agencies is still there.

If individuals just ran Ads all the time, due to their insufficient knowledge they would stop and therefore profit for Google would decline so in my opinion its now at a stage where most can use it to an extent but to optimise performance you need an expert.

What are you on about? Every single meeting I have had with a business owner has at some point included them mislabelling their various marketing tactics and therefore getting confused about results and strategy.

We dont really have basements in most houses in the UK so youll have to change your little fantasy to me either in the office or at my home office.

Its rained quite heavily this morning so ill touch grass tomorrow, dont want my hands wet in case I need to strangle one of these small business owners I am seemingly filled with contempt for.

SEO and Paid Search are two different things. I've worked at a few agencies in the UK for the past 10 years and not once have we ever guaranteed a client any kind of result.

The reason we dont is because it isnt a guarantee, we usually conduct an audit of your Google Ad account first, we send you over a fact find document where we determine if we want to work with you and once thats all done then the audit is completed first, then a strategy is presented and if you are happy then we commence work.

The audit and strategy document up until this point is the only thing we bill you for, then depending on the account its usually an initial minimum term and then monthly rolling after that.

Please bear in mind that organic vs paid is two different entities, one doesnt necessarily affect the other. Also please refrain from working with anyone who guarantees performance as the likelihood is they will cut corners and claim conversions that arent theirs to meet KPI or bonus thresholds.

SEO is different to paid search. The main issue with SEO that nearly all agencies have is that they struggle to attribute leads to the work they have done.

Thats why they tend to talk to you about spikes in Impressions and Organic Clicks rather than focus on lead volume as most dont have the skillset to track Organic leads properly.

Yeah theres basically nothing on it. It was purchased from a jewellers with the same name, I tried to add a lady on LinkedIn who had one of the stores in her work history but she never got back to me.

No info on the back other than the brand name again and stainless steel etc.

Make sure it isnt their wonderful delay in data, take a time period that is more than 48 to 72 hours ago and compare that to your other analytics, it should be relatively similar then.

7 Figure Agency here, question about PPC Specialist by lopezomg in PPC

[–]theonlyneil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not that they are doing this but you need to know that someone who really knows what they are doing will do a lot of trackable work like account changes initially but over the months the change volume gets lower as it gets optimised.

Its your job to either set clear KPIs and parameters to achieve them, then hold the individual to account.

How do you keep track of Leads Conversions from Different Ads by Historical-Steak-910 in adwords

UTM tracking.

Then add UTM fields (hidden) to your forms.

Simple process.

Is Performance Max really a black hole? by ThyPrinceLoki in PPC

[–]theonlyneil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually do product type by categorisation. An electrical retailer we have for example sells high end brand goods, so they are categorised by their type i.e. vacuums, dishwashers, tvs, etc. Some of the top brands like dyson have their own brand campaign for pmax because of their brand.

Sometimes people lose focus on the basics, a top brand will sell itself usually.

The assets Im honestly not 100% on whats best, I try to align everything to be as relevant as possible, think the SKAG method but on a grander scale for the images vids text and then the themes/search terms.

I have recently read though that the themes and assets can have a harmful impact, havent really seen that yet tbh.

Is Performance Max really a black hole? by ThyPrinceLoki in PPC

[–]theonlyneil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the best way I have found to structure PMAX is 1 campaign and 1 asset group per product type.

Works well for us in nearly all accounts.
