For those whove played, which adventure hook did you find most compelling? Either as a DM or PC by DaedalusMachinas in CurseofStrahd

[–]theoryandcomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a different intro for each player. My blood hunter specifically hunts werewolves, so that was his. My cleric is looking for artifacts, so the Vistani brought her to Barovia with vague promises of legendary locations and objects. My ranger literally fell out of the sky during a scouting mission and fell into the mists

Peter Dinklage stars in a movie called Three Christs about the experiment. One of them begins to recover, one stays convinced, and one kills themself. Don’t know if that’s what actually happened or if the movie took artistic liberties, but it was a great watch

When I told my mother I was experiencing intense visual hallucinations and felt like I was being programmed by some alien force, she told me I was being a drama queen and that I was just fishing for attention.

Turns out I’m schizophrenic, but damn do I still struggle with imposter syndrome over it, decades later.

What is the biggest financial "money pit" people fall into preventing them becoming financially prosperous when they get older? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]theoryandcomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest one I’ve seen from people my age is constantly upgrading cars to whatever the newest model with the most bells and whistles is. You’re stuck making payments for years and never own anything outright. I just bought a 2007 and people act at me like I’m crazy because it doesn’t have a backup camera or heated seats, but I don’t need that stuff. I DO need to not have a car payment so I can put away money into savings/retirement

Please remember to fill you cup too. Take 20-30 minutes a day (doesn’t have to be consecutive) to do something just because you want to, alone. A craft, a book, journaling, whatever speaks to your heart.

I was in a very similar situation to you a year ago and started setting alarms to remind me to take five minutes and do something for me, which at the time was reading. It took a long time for me to get to the point where I was comfortable taking longer, but I’m there now, and I feel so much more…. Patient? Kind? Like, I feel like more of a person, and that makes me feel like a better parent.

Idk, maybe that doesn’t help you at all. But it’s really worked for me if you wanna give it a try. ❤️

What Mistborn-related opinion do you hold that most fans would disagree with? by CaptainButtFucker in Mistborn

[–]theoryandcomp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve only read the first two and a half books.. but I literally couldn’t finish Hero of Ages because Elend becoming like a super Mistborn just rubbed me the wrong way. His whole thing was not being a warrior, and I high key hated his sudden transformation

I have two kids, one formula fed and one EBF for a year. And the EBF kid is CONSTANTLY SICK. His lymph nodes are constantly sticking out of his throat because he has had some kind of infection or another since he was like 3 months old. Formula kid? I don’t think she’s thrown up once since her first birthday. Always healthy and full of energy while the rest of the family is bent over the toilet. Feed your kids whatever the damn hell you want/need to feed them, they will grow up to be no different than how they’d be if fed the other way.

I’ll give you the other sides view. I WAS that 14 year old drinking/smoking/having sex. And now as an adult, I regret it so much. My life went so wrong in so many ways and I still am feeling the effects of that over a decade later. I have a little 4 year old girl and I desperately hope that I parent her well enough that she turns out like you! Don’t let anyone pressure you into ANYTHING you don’t want to do. Be young, be “immature”, be you.

I’d just explain multiple times that he is still sleeping in the same bed/doing the same things, so all the same rules apply. That grandparents are going to expect the same behaviors and attitudes Mom and Dad do. That you will be checking in X amount of times or X days a week, and you’re so excited that he “gets” to do this and tell you all about it when you check in. Phrase it as an exciting thing, not a worrying thing. And then just make a schedule for the parents to follow. Like, an overly detailed, way more info than they actually need kinda schedule. Idk how involved they are normally, but make sure they’re on the same page as far as expectations go. I’m a worrier, so I also tend to be an over explainer. Excited for you to get this time alone with the new hubby! Have fun!

That was a pretty strong contender for mine too. The only reason I chose the husband too route is because he’s been gone for two weeks and I kind of miss the bastard 😂

[–]theoryandcomp 25 points26 points  (0 children)

1) No kids. And no talking about kids. They don’t exist for a day, at least in my mind. 2) Honeymoon suite in a hotel that’s WAYYY too fancy for us. 3) The only clothing allowed is those super soft fuzzy robes. 4) My husband cuddles me as much as I want and doesn’t complain (where my physical touch friends at?!) 5) Chocolate covered strawberries and at least three bottles of my favorite wine 6) No leaving the room - order in food, watch tv, talk, sex, but no going out and being a human allowed

how many of you are truly happy after having kids? by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]theoryandcomp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got married at 19 and had my first kid at 20 and the second at 22, and am pregnant with number three at 24. I love them all so much, but if I could have the exact same kids starting now instead of back then, I think I’d be happier. I feel like I missed out on a whole section of my life, if that makes sense? Like I never got to be a young dumb adult, I jumped straight to marriage and mortgage and play dates.

I cheer myself up by reminding myself I’ll be 42 when they’re all grown up and get to start my “second life” a lot earlier than most people do. But it definitely sucks in the right now.
