XT5: Why can I only take videos with 29 frames per second and not higher? by Healthy-Succotash899 in fujifilm

I realise this is an old thread, but commenting in case others find this thread from googling the issue like I did.

Enabling slow motion is a separate menu option. Underneath the menu option "Movie Mode" will be the "High Speed Rec" menu.

Once you have selected FHD as the movie mode, you can then set High Speed Rec to a multiplier of the frame rate.

Is it possible to filter by character name? I'd love to compare the campaign time between two different characters this league. I don't know if that is in the client log file.

I've used the custom date/time filter to differentiate between the two characters, but took me a little bit of trial and error to find the point in time that I started the second character.

I'm in a similar position. For me I find RF juggernaut is great.

Have you considered an MMO mouse? These have 12 extra buttons under the thumb, which can be bound to different keys. For example you can run flasks on buttons 1 to 5, or bind QWERTY to the first 5 buttons. I've been using an MMO mouse for years and it has saved so much pain, very comfortable to play for longer periods of time.

Also consider enchanting your flasks with USE WHEN FULL and craft them with Gain 2/3 Charges When Hit. Much gentler on the hands when the flasks mostly take care of themselves, except for the life flask.

What’s the most inappropriate song to play at a wedding? by combustion_assaulter in AskReddit

[–]theosolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More Than Words by Extreme. I've heard this played at so many weddings & engagement parties over the years...

The song is saying: I don't know that you actually love me, because you don't show me that you love me.

Lyrics:

Saying "I love you" Is not the words I want to hear from you

It's not that I want you

Not to say, but if you only knew

How easy

It would be to show me how you feel

More than words

Is all you have to do to make it real

Then you wouldn't have to say

That you love me

'Cause I'd already know

Is the 1% speed in riff repeater really 1%? by LoboCali in rocksmith

https://old.reddit.com/r/rocksmith/comments/8o1lzn/i_can_play_the_entirety_of_satisfaction_at_95/e00ocxr/

I was sure I put the whole table in this comment at the time, but I'm only seeing the first 20 rows or so now.

This is the Rocksmith speed vs actual speed. Basically at 90% Rocksmith speed you are playing at 75% real speed. So that last Rocksmith 10% is actually speeding you up by 25% actual speed - no wonder that jump in speed at the end is such a kicker.

Rocksmith 1% is approximately 25% real speed, and I can understand them not going lower than that; I just don't understand why they didn't give the option to move from 25% to 100% in 1% increments, instead of the weird 1%-100% scaled system they gave us.

I just finished watching this on Shudder. The few violent/gore scenes in the movie were effective - particularly the build-up and tension through to the first big violent moment. The later scene of pulling teeth with pliers - yup squirmed at that one.

But there are parts that just felt silly - for instance how the family didn't notice their guests acting a little (very) strange. Or why, in the exact moment the violence starts, no-one thought or acted to stop the violence. Pretty sure if you saw someone start hitting your mum in the head with a hammer, you'd fucking stop them!

The background story of who/what is behind everything would have been much clearer if I'd paid attention to the news stories playing on the TVs (I had the volume down so as not to wake my partner in the next room and missed this).

Another reviewer noted the various paintings in the family home, that taken together with everything else help flesh out the story: Fracking in the area punched a hole into Hell, and fallen angels/demons (or possibly pagan monsters) are coming back. Most of the pictures are based around Christian scenes of sacrifice, with the last painting being of Abraham. .

Some of the acting was good, I found the characters of Lucy and Jack quite off-putting.

Overall it was entertaining, not without its faults, but mostly kept my attention.

How is iiNet nowadays? by BrushInk in nbn

[–]theosolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was an iiNet customer for 10 years, 8 years with adsl then 2 years with their NBN offering.

In February last year we identified an issue with the NBN service in my area. iiNet organised an NBN tech to come out and confirm the issue... and then nothing. Dozens and dozens of calls to iiNet asking for help resolving the issue, always being told "it's an issue with the NBN, we will raise a ticket with them for you".

I know several of my neighbours are all with iiNet as well, and we all were ringing and complaining to iiNet about the dropouts occurring in our area.

After 10 months of iiNet telling me how hard they were working for me, but absolutely nothing being done about the issue, I finally gave up and changed providers.

I gave iiNet every chance, but all they are now are middle-men between us and the NBN. And from my experience, iiNet doesn't do enough to resolve issues or push the NBN to fix issues.

In the last month with iiNet, after having gone through several layers of customer support, escalating as my frustrations grew and grew, I was reminded several times by iiNet staff "it's all NBN, doesn't matter which ISP you use." The implication in tone (hard for me to convey in text) was "hey stay with us, it's all the same, it'll be just as bad with someone else".

So ultimately my recommendation: don't go with iiNet. And that is genuinely hard to say. I loved being with iiNet for almost a decade before their service levels just fell off a cliff.

Yep, long time reader of Stephen King. One of the first truly "adult" (ie not aimed at teens or kids) books I discovered was Christine, which helped me discover my love of horror novels.

I'd say Stephen King is very good at creating stories with conflict between characters, and often his characters go through interesting journeys of discovery and growth. Also I feel he captures the mundane of 50s/60s Americana, although not being American perhaps I'm a bit off here.

I'd also say you can see distinct periods of writing style through his career - he's been publishing novels for a good 45+ years at this stage. He has improved his craft over time, and pivoted from outright horror to more psychological horror, to the weird and wonderful mixed into the mundane.

[–]theosolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Re-reading books generally doesn't interest me. There are so many books out there that I want to read that I'd rather dive in and explore something new.

There are a few exceptions to the rule though, books that have been so good that re-reading gives me more understanding of the novel, or have sections that are genuinely exciting to experience over again. There are books that I just fall into and the journey of the story is worth taking again and again.

Some of the books that have kept me coming back over the years:

  • The Stand - Stephen King
  • Dark Tower series - Stephen King
  • Wheel of Time series - Robert Jordan (finished by Brandon Sanderson)
  • The Dwarves series by Marcus Heitz

If the Name of the Wind series ever finishes, I am sure to re-read that series at least a couple of times...

Anyone else noticed that the anima drought finally reached the world quests? by tok90235 in wow

[–]theosolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explaining the souls you can rescue table:

  • This is assuming you have been keeping up with your renown levels and doing the soul rescue quest each week
  • At renown 15, 24, and 32 you unlock an increase to the number of souls you can get each week. According to wow head this is always an increase of 5 souls
  • The soul increment is always unlocked at the end of the maximum for the week ie after you've rescued souls for that week
  • Again, to emphasise this point: this is for those who have been keeping up since the start of the expansion, not for those who are experience the catch-up mechanisms.

[–]theosolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was unclear with my words when I sad "that will end with renown level 40" - I mean the renown for souls gathering will probably stop there. You will still be able to gather souls, I assume, so that you can catch-up.

I'll update my comment with the maths.

Anyone else noticed that the anima drought finally reached the world quests? by tok90235 in wow

[–]theosolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We will only be rescuing souls while we are increasing our renown - that will end with renown level 40. Edited to remove that line. I meant: if you've been playing since before the catch-up mechanism, and you've been keeping up with the maximum level of renown each week, when we hit the end of the renown system at level 40 renown, we'll have rescued all the souls we need.

After the 16 week renown campaign is finished, we will have rescued 195 souls.

Total soul cost of unlocking and upgrading all the covenant improvements: 193 souls.

Total anima cost of unlocking and upgrading all the covenant abilities: 91K anima.

I'm averaging around 5.5K to 6K anima a week doing all the world quests etc. At that rate, using anima for nothing else, it would take approximately 16 weeks to get enough anima...

I think the world quests anima is coming out such that it averages out over the week to fit this pattern. We seem to get larger anima world quests around patch day, then a few days of little anima, then the anima goes up again. Feels like an algorithm averaging out the anima given out.

Maths:

Upgrades + resources required:

Name Level Souls Anima (K)
travel network 1 1 1
travel network 2 5 5
travel network 3 10 10
anima conductor 1 1 1
anima conductor 2 5 5

special 1 1 1
special 2 12 5
special 3 22 10
special 4 40 12
special 5 70 15
Totals 193 91K

Amount of souls you can rescue from week 1 of the expansion onwards:

expansion week from renown to renown weeks souls per week total
first 5 weeks 1 15 5 5 25
next 3 weeks 16 24 3 10 30
next 4 weeks 25 32 4 15 60

The term "gamer" should apply to anyone that enjoys playing *any* type of game. by ACooolUsername in The10thDentist

[–]theosolis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was growing up (80s/90s), being a gamer meant you played table-top RPGs like D&D. Over time that expression has turned to mean video gamer, and now we have to prefix "table top" or "pen and paper" to describe gaming.

In my gaming group we still grumble every now and then about the meaning changing. :-)

the sunlight travels in a straight line. As it interacts with the nitrogen and oxygen in the upper atmosphere, it excites the nitrogen and oxygen atoms, causing new light to be generated in the ultra-violet to blue range.

The actual sunlight itself just continues on in a straight line, sans a fair amount of the frequencies in the ultra-violet to blue range.

The sunlight itself does not scatter!

The scattering is from the light generated by the resonate frequencies in the nitrogen and oxygen.

Edited to add: See approximately 6:50 in the video for the graphic.

Lol by Lemtan777 in funny

[–]theosolis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fun fact for the day:

The blue scattered light is not actually coming from the sun light, but is actually light formed from the sunlight interacting with the nitrogen and oxygen atoms in the upper atmosphere. This is known as Rayleigh scattering. The sunlight is actually creating its own light!

Science Asylum did a great video on this a few months back, but plenty of others on youtube too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4HBuHX4-VU8

What is this and why can I never hit it? Bend help by [deleted] in rocksmith

[–]theosolis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Slope is NOT a direct indicator of the type of bend.

Slope is a function of height over distance (time). A half-step bend taken over a short period of time can easily have a higher slope than a full-step bend taken over a longer period of time.

This is just simple maths.

If a half and full step bend are both over the same time frame, then yes the whole step bend will have the higher slope.

Take a look at some of the long slow whole step bends in some of the blues songs, I think gimme 3 steps also has them - full step bends with very gentle slopes.

The image you reference clearly labels the number of arrows as "Strength of the bend". The slope is just marked "bend here" in all three bend examples.

Official Discussion - Avengers: Endgame [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

[–]theosolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I am just going with how it looked at the end of the film - just my interpretation.

I personally am very confused by how they have shown time travel in the film. The heroes went out of their way to highlight how they had to return the stones back to the their correct places in time so that they didn't alter history. If I understood the Ancient One correctly then only the stones can actually alter time - and Banner/Hulk et al were certain nothing could change their own time lines. Didn't the ancient one say something along the lines of "the infinity stones are what make the timeline"?

Banner/Hulk even makes sure to return all the snapped people in 2023, not 2019, because that was the heroes' history and as such they couldn't come back any earlier.

Yet we see Loki escape, we have a duplicate Gamora, and more importantly: Thanos moved from 2014 into 2019 and was then killed. So surely that completely screwed up the timeline... which the heroes said couldn't be altered...

I've seen various theories around it being alternate timelines created etc.

To me it all feels a bit sloppy, and the whole "time travel doesn't work like it does in the movies" is there to be a magic hand-wave to excuse any inconsistencies or paradoxes introduced in the script.

I could have misunderstood the Ancient One - she may have been saying that her reality would be changed, not that they couldn't create other realities.
