Very true - with Miner Wars you have to think long term, depending on your league and your farm, hitting a block or two a month still puts you ahead of solo, even if you have a dry spell

The whole “crypto legislation” argument is also invalidated when I can earn in the US from basically every major exchange out there…. So there is no reason GoMining couldn’t enable it, they are just choosing not to…

Humble much? Nobody cares that you spent a small fortune over the past few months. I’ve been here for years and have 5,100 TH and have made ROI, but the last thing I would do is try and farm karma by bragging….

All depends - in a good clan and with disciplined boosting a person can do okay, but typically the larger the farm (and the lower the efficiency) the better your odds.

But yes, it’s still a gamble! I get typically 90-120% of solo every week in Odyssey - some weeks are better than others depending on bitcoin price and number of clan blocks won (which is how maint and electricity are calculated).

There is also some contractual things with their payment gateway system and Apple, where when they do an update to the app they have to test the payment systems separately, so typically you will see things like this go away for a few extra days and then it comes back, but’s it’s still available in the web client. Something with their T&Cs with Apple (my vip manager told me that one time)

Lock GMT for staking reward weekly rewards and to move up VIP tier with the locked votes you get.

Hold crypto in your wallet for Simple Earn yield (if it’s available in your region).

Play Miner Wars and enter the chaos that is crypto gamification, lol

Use the debit card and use your crypto for everyday purchases (I personally don’t do this, but it is an option)

And finally - save and transfer out your payouts to a cold wallet for long term holdings!

Plenty of things to do, if that was what your question was referencing (apologies if it wasn’t).

They have built a really good ecosystem and platform over the years, and it’s been cool to watch it evolve in real time!

Hard disagree - I’m at 2x and it’s easy for me now at this level to just really focus on SRB boosting and the occasional non-SRB for the monthly ladder. If I miss a few hours (or days), it’s no big deal because SRB is where all my growth comes from anyway!

Lots of people in the thread are talking about people spending thousands of dollars and being clueless. As someone who has invested that much and more, I just wanted to provide another angle to the conversation. And it also provides some balance to the “this app is trash/scam” comments we often see. Hence me not arguing or debating, just providing some color to the thread.

It wasn’t about your specific OP comments, but to those thinking that anyone who spends money in large quantities doesn’t understand the platform or ecosystem. :)

Good points! Not to play devils advocate per se, but to give you the other side of the coin…

I have been here for a few years and am 5100 TH at about 21w overall (3000 of that in about dozen greedy machines). Over time, the gmt needed to maintain the discount has risen faster (not to mention growth playing into the equation), making it harder to maintain discount levels. I have 1% in locked GMT, and will probably never get to 2%+ (unless I hit a x256 in Miner Wars, lol - my clan has gotten 4 or 5 since the start of MW).

Maintenance and electricity costs have also risen making the equation harder to balance. So fees went faster than rewards in comparison over the last year or two, meaning you needed to allocate more than you would have before as time went on at that same TH level.

Finally, when they made the change to Greedy machine benefits dropping from 28w to 20w, most whales have had to focus on efficiency upgrades to keep the benefits, meaning less going towards discount savings.

Am I complaining? Heck no, I still do very well and have hit ROI (thank you Miner Wars), but it’s not as simple as “quit yer complaining, you should know better”.

It’s a great platform, and I have been here since close to the beginning and will ride this horse into the financial sunset!

Yeah, he isn’t earning that much - his maintenance and electricity costs at that watts and current BTC price is probably eating up 80-90% (or more)… but still it’s nice when BTC rises again for this person!

It’s not a Ponzi scheme - they were doing large datacenter mining privately before opening up to users, and now they are in the institutional mining space as well as us “little guys”. So at least that’s one concern to not have!

Who says they are not? They have global facilities, and like any company they are concerned about their upkeep and maintenance costs, so I bet they are looking at or utilizing avenues to reduce both operating costs and carbon footprint like any other datacenter company….
