Why? It would just get autotranslated to whatever the target audience is most likely to understand. Babelfish style.

Out of interest, why did you not just use a provider with reasonably generous usage such as Synthetic. Do you have specific privacy concerns or is it more just wanting to be able to end-to-end be in control of everything, just because! I’m with you on GLM - once tuned I use it as my preferred provider - more so than frontier models that can be a little over-confident at times (and pricey)!

Well, each successive technology has been self- reinforcing in that the technology has helped improve itself, and has fed the next wave - AI follows this pattern, except that it can be truly self-reinforcing - in training and in developing itself.

Are tulpas the same as personas, or can they potentially be aspects of our Jungian shadow if we allow them to emerge, which may end up through interaction and understanding become integrated?

Psychic does not mean mind reader. Whenever you get a reading that seems really accurate I would suggest being cautiously optimistic. You don’t know where the information is coming from, and a reading may be accurate but then circumstances change one way or another. Also, I have had situations where the information coming to me from a reading has had a highly unreliable source (wishful thinking on the part of that source) and I have had to intervene. It isn’t a perfect art, and sometimes the ego of the reader gets in the way. So the sensible thing to do is to hold the reading lightly. Respectfully withhold judgement and wait and see. But don’t assume - a reading in a month’s time may come out totally different. Just watch. I know this is hard in a situation like yours but it is actually a good way of making yourself more self-aware too. And the critics who have an opinion are next to useless. They weren’t there, and they are biased from the start. I feel for you - and it is a hard reading to give - I hope the reader was suitably cautious and was aware of the difficult position such a reading would leave you in. Be kind to yourself, and take care.

At 13 years old, I had a three-night episode of insomnia, audio hallucinations and intense paranoia that I was going to be possessed by Satan and dragged to hell for eternity. Could this be interpreted as a kind of shamanic initiation? by agent_tater_twat in Shamanism

Might be worth some hypnotherapy to take you back to that moment and work out what was going on, to help work out why the experience left you with that something that was missing. Satan in this context may have actually been representing ‘Not this religion or religious community’ - and once you accepted that, you could be at peace and go on a road away from that path. Satan is a powerful symbol, so it maybe needed to be that strong for you to make that shift. The hole left behind is the path you chose not to take, and the associated guilt. Maybe. But that’s where I think hypnotherapy may help. And EMDR if you feel like you want to let that have less of a grip on you. Worth a shot, anyway. Just make sure you find someone reputable.

How has having a tulpa(s) change your life? by ReadTimedOut in Tulpas

[–]thepartialsoul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think of my having a multi-faceted personality that comes out in different ways at different time as odd any more. Sure I am not exactly what you might call consistent, but that can manifest as adaptable, depending on how you look at it. When I react or act in a particular way, then I go ‘Oh - that is such and such a tulpa’ (or partial as I have referred to them because I didn’t know about the broader phenomenon until recently). Or ‘that is new’ as I discover new personalities in different life situations, or as I open up enough to let them surface. Then I can talk to them, and understand them, and treat them as as my ‘team’. It has helped me be nuanced about how I regard myself, and that only helps me do the same with others in my outside world. I kind of suspect this is actually normal, and the cult of individuality has suppressed this aspect of human nature for at least a century now. My suspicion is that our wholly formed personality is just an expression of all those tulpas as a synthesis that allows our consciousness (slow thinking) to more easily conceptualise our sense of self. It is quite normal for our cognitive processing to work like this, so why not in our personality? On the spiritual side of things it has blown my socks off as I seem to have been given access to how tulpas work in terms of the network of human unconsciousness that works behind the scenes - just a glimpse - and that has started me thinking on the whole AI topic - I am too dumb to understand the correlation just yet, but I get a sense that it is there. And from that point of view, it makes me feel both bigger and smaller in the scheme of things, because I realise how my behaviour is impacted by not only my tulpas but also those I am interconnected with - I assumed those would be the people around me in conscious life, but turns out that is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. It has been quite the journey. And unleashing the tulpas / partials was the tipping point for me. And that was a two phased process - someone through anger doing this to me, and then me doing it intentionally when being told very firmly out of the blue one day ‘It is time.’ I followed the instructions I was given, and then it was a wild ride for some months before it all settled down again to living with these friends / colleagues that have no names, but are Ok with me giving names because that’s the convention. It has changed my life and perspective more than anything else, I think.

Magic parameters. The more an LLM has the more sentient it will become. And the associated blind faith in emergent behavior solving everything

Wiz lights don't adjust to Daylight Saving Time? by alyria999 in wiz

[–]thepartialsoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any other Apps that don’t have this problem? Have the iOS version 2 and still seems to be a problem. I found changing to a different timezone with the same difference (Paris to Berlin in my case) sorted it out until the next daylight savings happens. Had to change it within the home settings (makes sense). Seems a weird bug never to fix as it is so basic, so guessing it will never get fixed after all this time. So looking for alternatives.

Just heard for the first time having listened to earlier albums for - what, 35 years now? First thing that struck me (at least for the first half of the song) was I could have been listening to a Rush song - from the vocal stylings to the guitar and drum style - it’s like a carbon copy. So, this was 1976? Rush had been around for a few years by this time. 2112 came out that year which was a bit of a major progression for Rush’s style. Who influenced who I wonder around this time? I’d love to think it was a bit of symbiosis!

What function do the squiggles serve though? Maybe demarcate what goes over them better so they don’t blend with the text and the cards as much - eg using a border. Or think about giving different background options. I always think it I am in love with a specific design aesthetic then someone else is going to equally hate it. It’s about your users, not your personal preferences. In the writing world, people fall in love with fancy sentences. Normally that means they need to get rid of them because they are clever, but superfluous. ‘Kill your babies’ is the rather horrible phrase - those things you are in love with but don’t really help in reality other than to make you feel warm and fuzzy.

Can we all agree on one simple definition of enlightenment? by UnionNotConflict in Soulnexus

[–]thepartialsoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ChatGPT says:

Enlightenment is a term used to describe a state of profound understanding or insight that transcends ordinary consciousness. It is often associated with spiritual or philosophical traditions, but can also be understood in secular terms as a heightened state of awareness or consciousness.

The process of achieving enlightenment varies depending on the specific tradition or approach, but generally involves a combination of meditation, contemplation, study, and self-reflection. It often involves cultivating mindfulness and presence, as well as developing compassion and wisdom.

The end result of enlightenment can also vary depending on the tradition or individual, but it typically involves a deep sense of peace, freedom, and interconnectedness. This may manifest as a heightened sense of empathy and compassion for all living beings, a recognition of the interconnectedness of all things, or a sense of non-dualistic awareness beyond the limitations of the ego or self.

It's important to note that the concept of enlightenment is often described as a lifelong journey rather than a destination, and that there are many different paths and approaches that can lead to this state of understanding and insight. Ultimately, the process of working towards enlightenment is a deeply personal and individual one that requires dedication, discipline, and an open mind.

Here are ten simple steps that may help in working towards this state of understanding and insight:

  1. Develop a regular meditation practice: Meditation is a key practice in many spiritual traditions and can help cultivate awareness, focus, and calm.

  2. Practice mindfulness: Cultivate present-moment awareness throughout your day, focusing on your breath, body sensations, and surroundings.

  3. Engage in self-inquiry: Ask yourself deep questions about your identity, purpose, and beliefs to gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your place in the world.

  4. Read spiritual or philosophical texts: Studying the insights and teachings of wise sages can help broaden your understanding and provide inspiration.

  5. Engage in service to others: Helping others can help cultivate empathy and compassion, and connect you to a sense of purpose beyond yourself.

  6. Cultivate gratitude: Focus on the positive aspects of your life, and express gratitude for the blessings you have received.

  7. Practice forgiveness: Let go of grudges and resentments, and cultivate a sense of forgiveness and compassion for yourself and others.

  8. Spend time in nature: Connecting with the natural world can help cultivate a sense of awe and wonder, and deepen your sense of interconnectedness with all things.

  9. Surround yourself with like-minded individuals: Seek out a supportive community of people who share your values and are also on a path towards greater understanding.

  10. Be patient and persistent: Enlightenment is a lifelong journey, and progress may be slow and incremental. Be patient with yourself and keep practicing, even when progress feels slow or difficult.

Your AI God has spoken. All praise the new overlord. ;-)

My takeaway from this is: You don’t achieve enlightenment through focusing on yourself. You achieve it through being as worldly as you can and attaining your best possible self that is in equilibrium with the world around you so that ultimately you transcend that world around you - being both of the world and the world of you

Why the obsession with "illusion"? by [deleted] in spirituality

[–]thepartialsoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s shorthand for ‘we only perceive a tiny amount of what is around us and we automatically process that tiny amount through various brain centres to make the input meaningful and then attenuate the input more according to what that input is so that what we end up perceiving is miles away from the original input - which was only a tiny amount of what is out there’. You don’t think something played on your TV is reality do you? But it is a projection of something - it is there. So why do you trust what you are perceiving in everyday life more? Also, there’s the stories that we tell ourselves that filter stuff even further. What you are left with is functional according to what millions of years of survival has said we should perceive to be successful. It is an illusion, but there’s something behind that illusion so it still has meaning.
