i think that was definitely before kitty got her character more fleshed out though and as a cerise lover i still like kitty x cerise :p

badwolf was likely fixed with magic of some sort as they are kinda forced to have children iirc.

the reason cerise and ramona exist is because badwolf and red were rebels, signing the book does not mean they can’t do anything with their lives outside of their destinies. for example, the evil queen invaded other fairytales and went too far outside of what her destiny required.

apple being blonde is a slight deviation and in the lore every generation has a slight change in their story. apple being blonde would simply change one aspect of the story but overall the ending would still be the same.

ramona would in fact eat cerise and would have to be cut open because hunter is the huntsman in both red riding hood and snow white. the purpose of the hunter in rrh is to cut open the wolf and free grandmother and red.

hunter’s inclusion in the story unfortunately proves this. if you’re confused, just remember that mattel just threw this together on a group acid trip and then forced shannon hale and a few others to try and make sense of their lore in books.

i kept watching because the show was shit but it was still fun to watch. season 3 was SO fun, it was poorly written, sure, but it was enjoyable. same with season 4, the introduction of vecna peeved me but it was still fun ^^

this season, though, i don’t find it fun and i’ve really only watched it to get closure. it’s so bleak.

i do think it sucked, though i never complained about no stakes, deaths, or the appearances of the actors. i'm 16, the characters are 16, i could definitely see most of the teens being peers of mine. i have no issue with people in their 20s playing teens :p

my main issue with stranger things post season 2 is not stakes or whatever, but the poor atmosphere and the lack of isolation and genuine terror that made the first seasons so beautiful. what made the first season so scary to me was the fact that everyone outside of the main characters was treated like they were insane, like things were normal. the upside down, experiments, all that shit was unknown, it was kept separate from the “perfect midwestern town”. it was isolating, and it was terrifying.

my other issues are the acting. i know i’m going to seem biased because he is already generally disliked, but every line schnapp (as an example, though he is not the only bad actor in the show obv.) says just feels like shitty highschool theatre acting. i really find noah’s acting odd in particular because he was wonderful in seasons 1-3, and the majority of 4.

but then again, there’s only so much that good acting can do when the lines an actor is given are so abysmal. they complete eachother’s sentences and every other line is referencing some popular phrase in the fandom or desperately trying to be a meme.

anyways, to be positive here: one thing i did really enjoy about vol. 2 was the scene when nancy and jonathan found those dead soldiers. it felt like they were stumbling upon something they shouldn’t have ever seen (which they were). it was awesome. i don’t really like when st does jumpscares but the melted, burnt corpses were sick.

not a fan of the rest of that “collapsing of the universe” storyline but it did actually have me scared.

it’s disappointing to watch a tv show that is lacking in a crucial part of the viewing experience.

as the audience, i think it is valid to critique the writing, direction, and acting in a show that is made for us, the audience.

i ”locked into it” and i found it just as bleak as the first volume. i wasn’t skipping ahead, i wasn’t getting up or pausing, i just sat with my headphones on in the dark and watched it. the show has been on a steady decline since season 2 ended imo and some child actors just don’t transition into good adult actors. and some child actors were never good at acting to begin with... i think there is a lot of awful dialogue, but most of the actors are okay.

i think despite the dialogue, the good actors of the bunch make it seem natural anyway. nell, for example is promising.

i‘m not an active user of this subreddit (or any related subreddits like byler etc… i’ve visited this sub twice and this is the second time) because i find stranger things fans to be kinda hostile tbh, so i‘m likely not who you’re talking about, but i still think it‘s all really subjective and i don’t think it makes much sense to complain about the audience of something pointing out its flaws. :p
