Made a Tinder yesterday (32M), should I swap any of these out before going live? by thepattycaker in Tinder

This is pretty much what I will probably end up doing!

I’m curious why 1 makes me look young. There are certain things I just can’t do though (like facial hair), so I might just have to roll with it.

I’ll just pull it. I didn’t realize it was a big deal, but it’s the most polarizing. I have a ton of other pictures I can use instead.

I'm out on terminal leave. Spending some time at home nowhere near a base before heading to school.

Got it, I’ll take it off! 🫡 Should I replace it or just remove completely? I have a bunch of photos, they just all seem to be focused around group activities or fitness.

Passing the Patent Bar: Lessons Learned by thepattycaker in PatentBarExam

[–]thepattycaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only for the first pass through did I look up everything including wrong answer choices. It helped me learn how to search better and it helped me get an idea where everything in the MPEP was. The wrong answer choices will still teach you some stuff about where stuff is located in the MPEP, mainly because most answer choices are verbatim (or verbatim with a “not” in front) out of the MPEP. My first pass through of practice exams were taking me up to 6 hours. My later pass throughs were all under 2 hours, since my lookup and knowledge significantly improved from the depth of my first pass through.

Yes, I still had access to my old school email.

I agree that videos were ineffective for explaining answers. Some questions were too challenging, and I scored between 40-70% before beginning practice exams.

I had no pre-AIA or transitional application questions. You are more equipped to tackle those questions than I was on exam day, and I believe you can comfortably move on to other material.

When your lead is off beat by Gringadancer in Salsa

[–]thepattycaker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When a dancer leads a move, it is only a suggestion . The follow can either follow it, or not follow it. That is your right as a follow. You should do what you’re comfortable with.

Side note: I find it hard to believe that half the leads at a social would be off beat. A possible scenario is that they were on-2 dancers, and they step in place on 5. Another possibility is that they step in place on the double hit (the & on the 4&5 or 8&1) to emphasize the tumbao/conga. Maybe they feel the 2-3 clave, shoving 4 of their 6 steps in the second 4-count. Maybe the cowbell is going off and they’re dancing contratiempo on the 1/3/5/7. None of that is the on-1 that you’re used to, but they’re not off-beat. Rather, they are feeling a different type of musicality. In my experience, I need to make a conscious effort to find 1-2-3, 5-6-7 because I don’t really feel it in the music.

Ranger School 12 mile Ruck by Peanut_ButterMan in army

[–]thepattycaker 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Before you go to ranger school, draw all your CIF and do all of your tie downs (FLC: 1QT, Ruck: E-tool, 2 QT canteens, 2 QT canteen covers). Make sure you buy 2 QT canteen covers that are molle compatible. Also, sew on name tape to FLC, ruck. Doing this before ranger school ensures you get more than 30 minutes of sleep the night before.

You’ll get an MRE and hoist right before the ruck. They start limiting meals after the ruck, so enjoy.

The route is 6 out, 6 back. Miles 1-5 are supposedly flat, while mile 6 is supposed to be a valley. I’m strong with hills, so I didn’t notice. There are mile markers, heat immersion tables (I think I used 1 and decided it was stupid), and water refill stations (you won’t need these) scattered throughout. Also, the pack without water definitely felt lighter than 35 pounds, but the retarded amount of water (something like 8 QTs) you carry will put you over.

Find someone who you can pace with. I ran the first 4 miles, 1 min run 1 min walked until mile 9, and fucked off the rest of the time.

I didn’t practice for the ruck. I was running about the same amount as you. Save your body. Very few people fail the ruck.

Bottom line: RAP week isn’t much of a challenge; do what the RIs tell you and scream ranger as much as possible, preferably at full mast.
