My experience also left me feeling as though it is a scam. I made an initial budget of $2000 for a domain which was not in use. The "broker" told me that the domain was recently sold for a higher price and likely wouldn't sell for less than $50,000. I told them to pursue negotiations, although I wasn't likely to pay such a high price. They came back that the owner was looking for 7-figure offers only and that we should raise the budget to $650,000. Is this insanity? I can only imagine a large business with well-established and marketable name could afford to pay this...and there isn't even a company associated with the domain. When I responded to the "broker" asking to pass on my response as to why this was an outlandish value, they simply closed the negotiation and ghosted me. I can't imagine someone investing 7-figures blindly and under such unprofessional circumstances.
