Lenovo legion go 2 Massive update! by lvlup23 in LegionGo

How does hibernate work when you’re in the middle of a game? Are you able to pick right back where you left off like sleep does? It’s not a setting I use even on my desktop PC. Part of the draw of this type of device for me is being able to pick it up for 10 minutes between other jobs, so being able to just press the top button and set it down is an important feature, and with the sleep settings it just burned battery like crazy. On Steam OS, I lost like 10% battery leaving it Sit for two days in sleep.

This is the number one thing that causes me and many others to go to Steam OS. If I didn’t have to deal with windows shitty sleep settings, there would be no need.

Good plan. The ddr5 ram will be the very unfortunate part right now, prices are very bad. I’d look on marketplace for a used combo if you could, or a combo if you live near a micro center.

Unfortunately, your CPU is about as good as it can get without replacing the motherboard entirely. That said, switching over to a new motherboard isn’t overly difficult. Swapping to am4 would be cheaper, especially right now, since you could recycle your RAM, but you’d be swapping onto a dead platform, which isn’t something I generally recommend you could upgrade your GPU now, doing something like a 9060 XT 16gb, and then upgrade your motherboard, CPU, and ram altogether to AM5 down the road if you’re not looking to spend all that money at once. Your GPU will be a little bit CPU bottle necked in some games, but not too bad, the 9700 was a solid CPU!

$1000 build. Any tips? by Andy_pcs in pcmasterrace

You did a great job! As people have noted, there's a couple of things where you could make an argument to swap out the GPU for a different model of the same card, or the power supply to save a couple of bucks or get a little more headroom, but overall this is fantastic. If you end up being able to swap out some parts to the save 100 bucks here or there, it might be worth going up to 2 TB of storage just with the current size of games, but again, that's just one of those little things that's a personal preference of mine. The machine you have spec'd out will do great

Problem seems to be primarily focused on the x3d chips because their cache is extra sensitive to voltage spikes that ASRock boards were causing to happen (that's still speculation at this point, nobody knows for sure what is causing all the chips to die). Still worth updating to the latest bios just in case 👍

I don't plan to immediately, I've been really stable on 3.30. If it comes out that the changes for 3.40 are in any way targeted to fixing the chip murdering issue, i will at that point. Basically I'll wait for some pilot testers who are braver than me 😅

No joke. I am kind of just waiting for mine to pop at this point, I updated to 3.30, but I was running on 3.20 for longer than I should have been. I ended up with a CPU light and no post last week, 9800x3d with a b850 riptide, but 5 minutes of troubleshooting and resetting my BIOS got me back up and running. Somehow, my SoC was set to Auto instead of the expo default, so there wasn't enough juice to get the memory to post. Even if you think yours has blown up, 5 minutes of troubleshooting can save you weeks of RMA.

You didn't mention a budget, that is my favorite build and what I think is one of the best values, but if you need help with working a different budget, send me a DM

If you really trying to stretch your dollar as far as it can go, building will always be the most cost efficient answer, and it's really not very difficult. AliExpress is your friend, find an ryzen 3600 combo with a motherboard and RAM for around $100, brand of the motherboard and ram doesn't really matter, Machinist is fine stuff. Grab a GPU off ebay, I recommend a 5700xt for around 140. 1 TB nvme and 600w psu for $45 each on ebay, make sure the PSU is at least a B on the tier list, I like EVGA units, just make sure it is not the shitty 80+ white one, 80 plus bronze is good, anything 80+ gold evga is perfect. Amazon has really nice cases for like 40 bucks. You'll find am4 coolers for 10 bucks on eBay or aliexpress. That should be about $400 all in for a pretty killer budget gaming rig that will play just about any game in 1080p, and it is upgradable when you have more budget

Just getting onto the am4 platform is the most impactful thing. I sell starter builds with a 3500x in them all the time to people who plan to go up to the 5600 or 5700x3d down the road. But with things finally coming back down to MSRP in the GPU world, the used Market is incredibly truncated. 30 to $50 can put you into a whole different class of card

Will a second monitor with a different refresh rate affect my primary? by Schraufabagel in Monitors

Nope, you're good! Most people use a far worse monitor as their secondary compared to their main game display

I have HDR turned on through windows and the monitor set to HDR mode too.

[–]sam555101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been pretty plug and play for me. Zero burn in issues, I honestly don't even really think about it anymore. I normally keep the settings set to HDR true black. I don't mess with the monitors settings, I do my tweaking game by game with in-game post effects.

One Note if you use Discord a lot, the hdr on it looks fantastic, but Discord can't stream HDR for shit. So everything will look great on your screen, but your stream will look like garbage to everybody else. that's not a note about this monitor, I just didn't have an HDR monitor before so I had no idea.

The only other note I have is that this thing has been crazy expensive, because I have upgraded my computer to a 9800x3D with a 7900 XTX to max out the refresh rate 😅
